Chapter 83: Unexpected
The roulette had five sections, each containing a single word.
[ Talent ]
[ Skill ]
[ Consumable ]
[ Item ]
[ Random ]
"Talent? Is it talking about innate talent?" Roken's eyes widened.
"Yeah, that should be the case," Julian nodded. "I believe that's the most valuable out of the five there."
"Well, getting that Talent option out of the five will prove that Nat's luck ritual is the real deal," Almond grinned. "You better not fail, Nat."
"Humph, just watch."
"She won't get it," Lily chimed in. "But I am saying this so that she will get it."
"Here I go!" Natalia pressed the red button, and the roulette started spinning.
"It seems that I have to press the button to stop it," Natalia raised her eyebrows.
"Well, that's just perfect," Lily grinned. "Now it's really all up to your luck."
"I pray for Talent," Roken clasped his hands.
Natalia hit the button, and the roulette started slowing down.
The needle was hitting each section's border, slowing down more and more until the needle entered the [Random] section and hit the border.
"Go over, go over!" Natalia's face was red as she muttered.
Everyone's eyes were glued to it. The needle even bent since it was a flexible one, but would it cross over to the [Talent] section from the [Random]?
Natalia spluttered gibberish in the next second and…
It didn't cross over! The roulette stopped on the [Random], and a pitch-black palm-sized box appeared.
"Damn!" Roken slapped his thigh. "So close."
"Well…." Julian simply shook his head while smiling. "That's how luck works."
"Open that box," Lily said.
"Yeah, the moment of truth is only after you open the box," Almond grinned.
Natalia touched the box, her expression utterly somber, "Behold."
The box opened as a strange black glowing light in scattered form oozed out slowly.
It lingered around the opened box, making everyone feel something mystical.
Inside the box was a soft red cushion, and on it was a black bead, looking rough but still having a strange sheen to it. There were hidden patterns on it, but they were so deep within that it had entered the micro-realm. It was simply impossible to observe them with normal or even just enhanced eyes.
Everyone just quickly inspected the black bead to satisfy their curiosity.
"What the hell is this?" Natalia blinked.
[Broken Myth Bead]
-Rank: ???
—Requires 1000 Perception to inspect this item—
Everyone was dumbfounded.
But before anyone could say anything, another strange thing happened.
"W-What's going on with me?!" Natalia shouted as she looked at her arms and body, glowing all black and gold sparklingly.
"This…" Almond was shocked. He suddenly had a very familiar feeling looking at the phenomenon on Natalia.
Lily looked at Almond's face, hearing him and seeing his expression, she knew Almond guessed something.
"Is her class evolving?" Lily turned back to Natalia as she connected the dots. The only thing Almond had experienced that she didn't was a new class awakening. It was an instinctively logical conclusion, but she was wrong this time.
"What's going on?" Roken was dumbfounded. "That's class evolution? Damn!"
Julian narrowed his eyes. "No way, right?"
Almond saw Natalia's expression easing up and her eyes closing. "We can only wait now."
"Anyway, I'll take the bead. This is definitely something good, and this is Nat's 3rd lucky trigger in a row. I'm guessing whatever that is happening to her occurred because of opening these random things and getting lucky in them."
…
Somewhere in the mysterious black space filled with stars.
There was a throne, and on it sat a lady-like figure that couldn't be perceived properly. Only the shape and outlining of her hair and outfit were visible as she glowed in a white-ish blue aura.
[Grimworld Tutorial Overseer]
In front of her was a screen displaying the live feed of Almond's new home.
Her eyes seemed to flicker as she saw the black bead and then Natalia as an amused expression appeared on her face. "He is already affecting World Lines in his new life…Is he unconsciously making things better for the people around him?"
"Interesting….the Heir of Oblivion talent is enhancing it due to its effect of his strong impression imprinting on people he finds important."
'What an interesting curve this is going in,' the lady seemed inebriated. She pointed her finger ahead as a square runic plate appeared. Her finger released a trail of white string as it entered the plate.
Her eyes seemed to blink afterward as the screen changed again, showing Almond who was in a sword stance while unconscious, his aura oozing out watery dreamy golden substances as he faced the dreadful level 300 Mythical-rank Floor Boss.
The lady appeared highly intoxicated as she watched him.
"Scatter…away…." Almond's lips moved unconsciously, his eyes closed as he stabbed forward in the air and slashed, unleashing a torrent of golden destructure that destroyed a foe several times stronger than him, completely and utterly.
"Almond, oh Almond…you better set foot into this realm of power again and properly this time, or else everything will be ruined again."
…
Natalia sat back down on the couch, her eyes glittering as she was reading something.
She could feel four gazes on her, all hungry to know what happened to her.
"Share it already," Lily rolled her eyes.
Natalia grinned, her nose pridefully high, "Behold the wonder of Divine Witch Natalia."
[Scales of Fortune] — Innate Talent
- Rank: Legendary
- Effect:
- >+10 Luck: Passively increases the user's overall luck, enhancing chances of favorable outcomes in day-to-day events and challenges.
- > Fortunate Scale: The user can manifest an ethereal scale that stores a desired amount of luck, ranging from one month up to one year's worth, to provide a temporary surge of exceptional fortune. This stored luck can be unleashed at any chosen moment for a powerful, one-time effect, greatly boosting luck for a critical situation. Once the lucky event occurs, the boost dissipates, and the user's natural luck decreases proportionally to the stored amount, resulting in average luck until the pre-used luck period has passed.
