Natural Disaster: I Started By Hoarding Tens Of Billions Of Supplies

Chapter 357:\  Secret

Chapter 357  Secret

Long Yu nodded in understanding and gently wiped the sweat from Yao Ran's forehead. Coming out of the tent, Chen Zizhen approached them, coughing awkwardly as he watched their public display of affection. Hearing his slight cough, Yao Ran and Long Yu turned around.

"Are there other patients who need treatment?" Yao Ran asked as Chen Zizhen approached them.

Chen Zizhen replied, "Some members are sick, but it's not serious."

Hearing this, Yao Ran frowned slightly and said, "Even a simple cold can kill people nowadays. Why don't you bring them all here? I will take a look at their conditions. It's better to be cautious than to wait until their illness worsens."

Chen Zizhen's eyes lit up at her suggestion, but he held back his excitement and asked, "Miss Yao, wouldn't that cost you too much medicine?"

Yao Ran, sensing his concern, replied calmly, "I have enough medicine for everyone. Also, since you have agreed to join my team, you and your companions are now part of us. Helping you is also helping our team grow stronger."

Seeing that he still hesitated, Yao Ran added, "If you find it hard to accept the medicine without paying, just make sure to work harder in the future."

Chen Zizhen lowered his eyes and seriously considered her words. He couldn't simply stand by and let his companions suffer or die from illness, but he also felt uneasy accepting such help without giving anything in return.

After a moment of thought, he finally said, "Then I will trouble you to check on them."

"Mhm," Yao Ran acknowledged with a nod.

After making the decision, Chen Zizhen went to call the patients. Soon, he returned with a group of people. Judging from their sunken cheeks, pale complexions, yellowed eyes, and frail bodies, Yao Ran could tell their conditions were far more severe than Chen Zizhen had told her.

Looking at him, Yao Ran said, "Please prepare a place for me."

"Sure," Chen Zizhen replied before leaving to fetch a table and chairs.

Soon, the survivors assembled a simple makeshift consultation area, and Yao Ran began examining the patients one by one. While she worked, Long Yu stood by her side, quietly observing everyone.

A few hours later, Yao Ran sent off the last patient with a pack of cold medicine and a small bottle of diluted lake water.

After the patient left with the help of other survivors, Chen Zizhen walked into the makeshift consultation room and asked, "Miss Yao, how are they?"

Yao Ran packed her medical tools into her medicine box and stored them in her space. Then she responded, "Most of them are malnourished and dehydrated. I will provide some vitamins for you to distribute to everyone."

"Three of them, however, require IV drips immediately. Their conditions are too severe, and they might not survive the day without treatment. In addition to the vitamins and IV drips, I will also give you food and water."

After she said that, Chen Zizhen was stunned by her generosity. He hadn't expected her to offer so much simply because he had agreed to join her team.

Once he regained his composure, he asked, "Miss Yao, why are you so kind to us, people you have only just met?"

Yao Ran met his questioning gaze and replied honestly, "I need your ability. The supplies and help I'm providing aren't free. I hope you will work hard for our team in the future."

Her straightforward answer seemed to ease Chen Zizhen's doubts, but a sudden thought crossed his mind. He realized no one, not even his closest companions, knew about his ability. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Narrowing his eyes, he asked, "Who told you about my ability? Miss Yao, it seems someone has deceived you."

Yao Ran chuckled softly at his words and replied, "I know you have a mind control ability. As for how I know that secret about you… well, that is a secret of mine."

"..." Chen Zizhen was rendered speechless by her cryptic response.

Unbothered by his confusion, Yao Ran asked, "Do you have a dried and safe place to store food and medicine?"

Chen Zizhen shook his head. "No. The slum is chaotic, and the structure is complicated. Even if we had a suitable place, we wouldn't dare store supplies there."

Hearing this, Yao Ran thought for a moment before suggesting, "In that case, you will need to come to the villa every day to collect supplies. I will provide enough for you to prepare porridge for everyone. As their health improves, we can change the food to more solid foods."

Chen Zizhen agreed and said, "Alright."

After finishing what she came for, Yao Ran held Long Yu's hand and said to Chen Zizhen, "If there is nothing else, we will head back now."

Chen Zizhen escorted them out and said, "Miss Yao, I need to stay here to arrange care for the patients. My brothers will accompany you to collect the supplies."

"Sure," Yao Ran agreed.

After their discussion, Yao Ran left with Long Yu and a few of Chen Zizhen's men while he focused on arranging places for the patients to stay and assigning people to help with cooking.

Meanwhile, Wu Yehao and his subordinates had been waiting for hours. When he saw Yao Ran exit the makeshift infirmary, he pressed the earpiece in his left ear and said, "Get ready."

A second later, his subordinates responded, "Roger that."

As Yao Ran and Long Yu left the slum, Wu Yehao appeared before them. Before he could introduce himself, Long Yu drew his military dagger, activated his wind element ability to enhance his speed, and charged at Wu Yehao.

Sensing the incoming danger, Wu Yehao flipped backward, narrowly avoiding the dagger's sharp edge. The moment his feet touched the ground, four thick vines, as wide as two fingers, shot toward him.

Before the vines could pierce his body, Wu Yehao leaped into the air.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Crack!

Looking down, Wu Yehao saw the vines embedded in the ground.
