Chapter 83 Reflection
Reflection
"And so it begins." Christopher mumbled.
He'd been observing his subordinates through Fate and saw that the battles happened around the same time.
Which wasn't meant to be so, but he was currently playing with fate and shifting it in his favour, making the various swarms of Void Creatures reach their destinations at the same time wasn't too difficult.
As he watched, he saw how his subordinates easily handled the Void Creatures, the only person who didn't instantly wipe them out was Belladonna though.
She purposefully let a few past and allowed the human army to fight the Void Creatures. Many of them should have died, but the artifact he gave her to give them didn't just make their equipment more effective at slaying the abominations and boosting their strength, it also healed them and brought back anyone that was from the brink of death, so no one died.
'If no one dies then it's alright I suppose. Though I wonder why she's doing that.' He wondered but decided to pay it no heed. Belladonna wasn't the type of person to do something without any reason.
So with that said, Christopher watched as they easily dealt with the problems, though he winced slightly when he saw the bridge Kim was fighting on collapse due to the force of her attacks.
'It doesn't matter.' He shook his head.
In not too long a time, all the Void Creatures had been defeated and the few 'lucky' Voidwalkers that escaped started to move as far away as possible.
And now it was time for him to implement the next phase of his plan.
Originally, he wanted to make it so that voidwalkers that were escaping to a certain area would meet up with each other and realise that they'd be trapped if they proceeded past each other as that would mean meeting the force that was chasing the other person.
This would force them to change course and start to move towards where their base was.
Christopher could still do it if he wanted to, however, he had a quicker and easier solution, one that relied heavily on one of his newer subordinates.
And that person was Prism.

"Dammit! Dammit!" Gregory cursed as he ran.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
He managed to put a sizable distance between himself and the madness that was those beings that utterly decimated the Void army, but he knew that wouldn't last for long.
They for sure would realise all the Voidwalkers who had helped guide the creatures hadn't been killed and would soon pick up on his trail.
As such, he ran as fast and as far as possible. However, he couldn't move as quickly as he wanted. He'd been injured pretty badly just from the aftershocks of one of those wolves attacks and so running wasn't very easy.
Eventually, he had to stop and tend to his wounds.
He panted and leaned against a rock, constantly checking his back to see if he had been followed
When he was sure he wasn't, he looked down at his side that was stained with blood. He suppressed a groan and he slowly removed his hand from the wound. It was deep enough for him to see bone.
'This won't do.' He thought and thought of how he could treat the wound.
He had already consumed a few potions to heal it, but the Mana was especially potent and was very keen on killing him. So the potions he took served to slow the bleeding at most.
It was at that point he heard something and his entire body tensed.
He looked up in a certain direction and his face turned solemn under his mask.
Ignoring the wound, he summoned a hatchet from his spatial storage and growled.
"Show yourself." He spoke and poured Mana into the weapon, the hatchet Glowing a dull bronze.
A moment later, someone stepped through the greenery, and Gregory felt his eyes widen in shock.
"Gregory?"
"Frank?" The two Voidwalkers spoke at the same time and Gregory blinked behind his mask, he didn't want to believe it, but that muscular frame was one he recognised all too well.
"Gregory, aren't you meant to be attacking with our brethren? Why are you here? And why are you hurt?" Frank spoke with confusion, his tone somber.
"... I should be asking you that." Gregory asked with some suspicion.
Frank seemed to have sensed this and raised his hands.
"Calm down brother. The army of Creatures we were leading was decimated." Hearing this, Gregory wavered.
"What?" He asked with shock and Frank's fists clenched.
"When we reached our destination, we were attacked by a terrifying being. Its power… was at the Gold rank. Most of us were killed immediately the fight started and I barely managed to escape. Though not unscathed." Frank pulled up his sleeve and Gregory winced when he saw the blackened skin that was essentially rotting. He also noticed that the hand was trembling slightly.
"... Are you alright?" Gregory asked tentatively and Frank shook his head.
"I'll live. But what happened to you? You look almost as bad as me." Hearing this, Gregory's face turned bitter under his mask. Enjoy more content from empire
"We… faced a similar situation to yours. When we reached our destination and started the attack, a terrifying being appeared and utterly annihilated the army. I was the only one that survived as far as I can tell." He sighed and Frank fell silent.
"... If I'm not wrong, I remember that you were meant to retreat to the Elven territory if something like this happened?" Frank spoke slowly and Gregory nodded, then paused.
"Yes… and you should have been on your way to the Centaur Kingdom." When he finished, they both fell silent again.
"... You aren't perhaps being chased by an army of Elves… are you?" Gregory asked and Frank sighed, cursing his luck.
"Yes… and you are probably being chased by an army of Centaurs…" Frank sighed tiredly.
"It would seem that moving in either direction is a death sentence." Frank spoke again and Gregory hesitated before asking.
"So what should we do?" Hearing this, Frank was silent for a while before speaking somberly.
"We'll retreat to the main base. It should be a straight shot from here." Gregory paused.
"Frank, you know that isn't allowed." Gregory said with a solemn tone and Frank nodded slowly.
"I do, but what choice do we have? It's either suicide of being captured by those idiots and getting tortured. I'd rather be punished severely than go through any of those." He sighed and Gregory clenched his fists. He wanted to retort, but the guy was right.
"Fine… we'll retreat." He conceded.
After coming to an agreement, the two of them turned in the direction they would have to go to reach their goal. But right before they started moving, Frank suddenly spoke.
"Oh, and I have to thank you." Gregory paused and looked at his colleague with confusion.
"Thank me? For what?" 'Frank' turned his head towards him and spoke, his voice now strangely feminine.
"For making a good reflection." Alarm bells immediately rang in his mind.
"What do you-"
SPLURT
Gregory's body jolted and a pained gasp left his mouth.
He looked down and to his shock, a blade was piercing his chest, straight through his heart.
The blade was then pulled out and Frank fell down. He was dead before he hit the ground.
"Phew." 'Frank's stared at the perfect replica of Gregory and exhaled. Then slowly, he… she began to change.
In a few seconds, the muscular man was gone, and instead, a beautiful woman who seemed to be made of transparent glass with wings on her back was left in place.
Prism… or rather, a Shard of her stared at the bleeding corpse in front of her and gently kicked it.
Then, it suddenly started to… crack, like a mirror.
It exploded into dust, but the dust didn't settle. Instead, it started to reconstruct itself, and soon, a new 'Frank' stood in place.
She stared at the two clones and spoke softly.
"Go and regroup with the other clones and make your way to the main base. Make sure to bait the armies to follow you. Make it swift." She spoke and the clones nodded before going on their way.
Prism stared at them and nodded to herself.
"It's done." Then, she tapped the space in front of her and it splintered like a mirror. But it wasn't the Void that was there, instead, a magnificent dimension lay beyond the shattered space.
Of all of his Subordinates, Prism perhaps possessed one of the most disgusting abilities among them.
Her mirror magic was far more harrowing than what most people would think.
Among them was the fact she could split herself into multiple "pieces". With each piece possessing her full power, though it had a lower energy capacity.
And another one of her abilities was the ability to create "reflections" of people. As long as she stayed near a being for long enough, she could create a perfect copy of them, containing their memories, mannerisms, and so on. Which was utterly terrifying.
And those were only some of the abilities she possessed.
What do you think?
