Chapter 188: A Name for Junior Slime. Core Formation Confrontation; Yang Wei Faces the Overcultivated Plant Life!
"Junior Slime, is that really you?"
When the baby dragon noticed the way Yang Wei was looking at him, he glanced at himself and realized he now had golden scales. Not only that, but he had also grown appendages and even had heightened perception.
Normally, any self-aware being would notice when it evolved, but the baby dragon was so focused on eating the pills and boosting its cultivation level that it completely forgot about the transformation it was undergoing.
Even Yang Wei was too engrossed in pill refinement to notice.
"Rawr!"
The baby dragon darted towards him, scurrying on all fours until it leaped, using its wings to propel itself a bit before finally landing on Yang Wei. Yang Wei toppled backward, allowing the baby dragon to lick his face bit by bit as its eyes sparkled like stars.
"Haha, it seems like you've wanted to do this for a while!"
"Rawr!"
It was evident the baby dragon was delighted to be able to lick Yang Wei now. Previously, in its Viscous Form, all it could do was attach itself to Yang Wei's face, which usually caused Yang Wei a lot of discomfort.
"Rawr!"
"Rawr!"
He continued to lick Yang Wei's face, sporting a bright smile as Yang Wei chuckled, relishing the affection the baby dragon showed him.
Mingyu never let me have any pets. There was this one Chaos Dragon I wanted to adopt, but she said she wasn't willing to share my affection with anything else. I tried explaining that loving a woman and loving a pet are different things, but she got jealous and really furious. So, she insisted I make her both my wife and my pet... Sigh~
Yang Wei carefully lifted the baby dragon off him and settled himself before raising the dragon slightly to get a better look at it. The baby dragon looked adorable, panting with its tongue out and wagging its tail back and forth, which brought immense joy to Yang Wei as he looked at it. "Wow," he exclaimed, "looks like your cultivation level has shot up.
How did you reach the 3rd level of Mortal Realm in just a week? And your cultivation base seems to be stabilizing rather quickly too."
The baby dragon responded with a cute, squeaky roar, making Yang Wei smile even more. "I didn't even realize you were munching on those pills," he remarked. "Despite their sorry state, they're still blood pills. That means you can do blood Qi cultivation like any other demonic cultivator, right?"
Although the baby dragon had gained a lot more consciousness compared to its slime form, it still couldn't speak, so it just let out another roar.
"RAAaWwr!"
Yang Wei gently placed the baby dragon on the ground and affectionately patted its slicked-back white horns. "Anyway, I'm glad everything worked out," he said. "Otherwise, Yàndiān might have paid me a not-so-friendly visit."
He felt relieved.
"Phew."
He knew the dangers of consuming blood pills, especially for someone with a low cultivation base and weak spirit root.
So, he was happy that nothing harmful happened to Junior Slime after it ate all those blood pills that were burnt beyond recognition.
Imagine if Senior Tortoise found out I was responsible for the death of one of his sect's supreme treasures... it'd be quite unpleasant.
Remaining seated cross-legged, Yang Wei pondered for a moment, rubbing his chin. "Hmm, maybe I should give you a name," he mused, glancing at the little dragon snuggled beside him. The dragon looked eager, flying up and circling around Yang Wei, barking with its high-pitched voice to express its excitement about receiving a name.
Yang Wei chuckled and raised a hand to calm the dragon. "Easy there, eager little one," he said affectionately.
The dragon settled on top of Yang Wei's head, finding a comfortable perch.
"Well, you seem to like your wings, they look quite heavenly - the prettiest I've seen... and those blue eyes," Yang Wei observed, smiling. "They're definitely charming qualities you inherited from your father," Yang Wei nodded approvingly, always making sure to find a way to praise himself even when he was complimenting another person.
Hmm...
He fell silent, contemplating a name.
What good name really screams a heavenly weapon used by a powerful sect...
For some reason, the bald shiny head of Jin Tianyu flashed into his memories.
Suddenly, snapping his fingers, he exclaimed, "Alright, I'll name you Tianyi!"
At the sound of his new name, Tianyi let out another enthusiastic roar.
"RAWR!!"
Yang Wei grinned, pleased with the dragon's reaction. "It seems you like your new name, mhm, good boy."
However, his smile quickly faded as soon as he glanced back at the pill furnace. He could already spot numerous cracks on the supposedly sturdy cauldron, and to make matters worse, he hadn't even successfully refined the blood pill yet.
"Sigh~ If I try to use any more extract in this cauldron, it might get destroyed," he muttered worriedly. "Also, Xiaomei would be furious, and she might even refuse to help me any further."
Yang Wei brought out a small bottle from his storage pouch and looked at it. The golden liquid, which was a celestial dragon's blood, was almost finished.
Even if I wanted to give making the pill another chance, I can't because I only have enough celestial dragon blood left to make one more extract. The extract is supposed to be less corrosive than the blood itself, but it's still super corrosive.
The problem isn't really the blood being too corrosive; it's the fact that there's neither a cauldron out there that can handle celestial dragon blood extract nor a fire hot enough to cook everything into a pill.
He shook the bottle, looking at his last drop of celestial dragon blood.
"Sigh~ this is absolutely depressing."
Seeing him sad, Tianyi gave him a small pat on the head with his small hand.
Yang Wei's eyes went up to the little dragon perched on his head. "Good boy."
Out of nowhere, Yang Wei felt a powerful vibration that shook the entire temple to its core.
RUUUUUUUUMBLE!
The room he was in vibrated intensely, and suddenly, his whole body tingled with awareness.
This feeling...!
The thick trees and vines made a movement. A movement so slight that even the air itself wouldn't notice it.
However, Yang Wei instantly picked up on it.
Without thinking, he swiftly dashed back with the force of a rocket as over ten powerful roots and vines shot out from the ground, aiming aggressively at him. The speed and destructive force of the roots were unmistakable.
This plant life was already at Core Formation realm!
"Interesting..." said Yang Wei.
Airborne, he watched as roots and vines approached him. Tianyi, who was perched on his head, let out a roar, indicating his readiness to fight. Yang Wei swiftly condensed a blood sword out of thin air and used it to deflect the roots and vines, but despite his efforts, he couldn't cut them and was blasted out of the temple like a ragdoll.
BOOOM!
More roots and vines sprouted from the earth with a blasting force, appearing even more destructive than before.
Spinning like a ragdoll in the air, Yang Wei sensed several vines stretching toward him like spears.
My blood sword isn't strong enough to match its Core Formation level strength! If only I've already cultivated my Innate Blood Spirit!
He steadied himself in the air and swiftly formed twenty dragon swords in the blink of an eye. He sent them flying towards the vines, appearing as blue streaks of light, and this time the dragon swords easily tore the vines to shreds.
Then, Yang Wei heard a female voice calling his name.
"YANG WEEEEEEEI!!"
Looking really far down, he spotted Mu Lin with a worried expression, holding a basket.
Surprised, he exclaimed, "Lin'er?!"
What's she doing here?! Oh... wait...
However, before he could react further, the vines and roots had already regenerated without a moment to spare, darting towards Yang Wei once more. This time, they approached from different angles, attempting to swallow him. Using its Core Formation realm aura, the plant life sought to suppress him in order to mutilate him with its vines!
