Chapter 252: Electronic Recycling Hub (1)
"Where is this place you're bringing me to?" Zhang Qin Feng asked. He knew that there are not many places to go around the Wind Base, but since Satella says it would be interesting, he might as well give it a chance.
It would take them too long if they were to walk. Hence, Satella decided to drive a car instead. Seems that she had some driving training while Zhang Qin Feng was not around for today's sake.
Although Zhang Qin Feng knows how to drive, he finds the control panel for operating the vehicle in this world was harder to get adapted to. The principle they're using is more like controlling a plane.
From starting the vehicle to driving it, all it need was a press of the ignition button for the power to run all the tires, engine, and moving parts. Everything was set to automatic mode. The driver can control how fast the car can go through the driving wheel from how much further she pushes the steering.
There were no indicators or pedals for him to use. Because most of the functions would activate automatically, there was a voice control recognition for most features. In a word, controlling the vehicle look simple, but it was too straightforward for Zhang Qin Feng to get used to.
The route they're using was quite a smooth one, maybe because it was in the outskirt. There are significantly fewer abandoned vehicles and ruins over here. At most, what was blocking their way was a few stray zombies or fallen trees. Also, they'll come across uneven roads once in a while, likely from the mutant worm is tunneling around.
About the mutant worm, it seems that their activity is reduced by a little recently. Based on the scout's report, the number of chances they encountered a mutant worm reduced to only one to two encounters in a week.
It was considered quite different compared to before, where two encounters in a day are considered a norm.
"We're here," said Satella as the car approached the open area behind a building. What was catching Zhang Qin Feng's eye was not the abandoned hauler trucks here but the building.
He doesn't know if he should jump and scream in happiness or he should reward Satella right here.
"Look at you… You're like a child that can't wait to go in and see what you would get," said Satella as she pulled a totally new rifle out from the car. Her casual gear is no longer the Phalanx and Centurion. Now, she had a more recent, durable version of firearms printed using a mixture of carbon and silicate carbide, along with steel mesh for durability.
The result came out incredibly amazing.
Modded especially for Satella's personal uses, the new Delta-Model Pistol was like a magnum revolver on steroids. It now came with her desired red-dot sight that could help to improve her accuracy and better grip. To suit her combat personality, Victor made sure that the pistol could respond automatically. Hence, all Satella need was to fill it with ammunition and start emptying it.
Her rifle was a complete version of what Zhang Qin Feng brought back to the modern world and issued to the Tianhe Special Squadron. Given the name "Thunderbolt" for its three firing modes, this gun is another one injected with steroids all the way.
It was powered by two advanced prototypes of Atom Battery, which promised an unlimited electricity supply until the weapon went overheated. Instead of firing the bullet by relying on the explosive, this rifle followed the magnetic discharge concept.
This made the gun recoilless, precise, and light.
Without the need for gunpowder, each magazine of this Thunderbolt Rifle now had 160 bullets instead of the traditional 30-50 bullets. The only problem would be how long the gunner can maintain his position while firing.
"How can I not be excited?" Zhang Qin Feng pinched Satella's cheek for bringing him here. It seems she already check that place out and make sure it was safe for the two of them to explore without restriction.
Bringing out his own set of custom-made equipment, Zhang Qin Feng took another look at the building's signboard. After making sure he didn't read it wrong, he followed Satella's lead as they got into the building that made him happy.

"What happened to the search party?" Wang Yufei asked. Today was the fourth day after the accident on Zhang Qin Feng's flight.
Although many parties were unwilling to give up on searching, they had no choice but to follow the decision of the exploration organization. Aviation Insurance Company was the one cooperating the most, followed by the military side.
Unfortunately, strong will alone is not enough to power the searching effort. Such an extensive mission would cost them close to a million dollars a day, or two million Han Country's Yuan.
Right now, about 70% of the search party had given up on searching for the debris related to the exploded airplane. Furthermore, the black box was found about a kilometer from the flight's last point before missing from the radar.
"The organizer has decided to extend this search for another three days. If there are no other results, everyone will pull out and leave it to the independent search parties." said the Aviation Insurance Search Party representative.
He felt terrible to announce such a piece of news to them, but it was unavoidable.
They'll eventually have to accept the truth anyway. Rather than making it later, it might be better to know about it now. At least, the family members of the people could start preparing for their burial and documentation process.
The only unfortunate part of this accident is no corpses were found. Plenty of the victim's belonging was found, but not a single flesh or limbs. This made everyone questioned what actually happened. Even the experts find it intriguing.
"It's alright. These people operate according to the allocated budget, profit, and losses. When there's a conflict of interest and benefit, it was typical to find an excuse for quitting." Jun Minji said.
"The Jun Conglomerate will continue with the search. Get me a satellite cellphone, so I can get in touch with my family," she added.
