Chapter 213: What A Scoundrel
Chapter 213: What A Scoundrel
Mu Qingshuang watched as the little fox, Xuan Shi, clung to Lu Xun with a happy and satisfied expression. It deeply pierced her fragile and lonely heart. She couldn't fathom how even the little fox had found such an excellent man, while she remained single…
Faced with the deep affection of the little fox, Lu Xun was always somewhat awkward, let alone displaying such intimacy in front of a stranger. However, he also knew that if he acted too aloof, it would hurt the adorable little fox. He gently held her slender waist with one hand and affectionately touched her little head with the other.
"Alright. I'm here to see you," Lu Xun said softly. "And I came here in a rush. After all…"
As his voice trailed off, he quickly leaned in close to her ear and said in a hushed tone, "I dare not defy your master casually. If she gets angry, I'll be in trouble. You know how short-tempered she is. Okay, okay, you should get down now. Others are watching."
The little fox didn't hold a grudge against Lu Xun; she understood his predicament. After all, it was her master who allowed him to stay. She pursed her lips and playfully said, "Forget about her, let her be alone. I've finally got you. Hold me tight!"
You really are a little fox trained by the big demoness! Lu Xun chuckled awkwardly. He didn't refuse her request and quickly held her slender waist and happened to catch a whiff of the unique fragrance emanating from the little fox. Suddenly, he felt a surge of desire, more intense than when he embraced the demonesses or Fairy Su.
On the other side, the charming widow Mu Qingshuang could barely contain her wide-eyed astonishment as a torrent of emotions washed over her – frustration, helplessness, longing, and desire. She couldn't help but notice how the young man cradling the little fox exuded an aura of gentleness that she didn't expect.
Wouldn't it be a pity to assign this young, handsome, and gentle man as the lover of the little fox?
Mu Qingshuang clenched her lips tightly, trying to divert her gaze from the scene before her. However, she couldn't help but use her peripheral vision to secretly observe the young man. But as she watched, the situation seemed to change a bit.
The cute and playful little fox held her lover's head tightly and passionately kissed him. It was hard to tell the exact details since the little fox had her back turned, but it was clearly an exceptionally intimate act.
Cough, cough!
Mu Qingshuang coughed forcefully twice and complained with a lack of enthusiasm, "Xuan Shi, that's enough! I'm sitting right here, and it's broad daylight. Doing such things so brazenly, how improper is that? Can't you go back to your room?"
The little fox, blushing, turned her head to see Mu Qingshuang, who was behind her, looking annoyed. She giggled and said, "I did it on purpose for you to see!"
"You…"
Mu Qingshuang was infuriated but couldn't find any valid counterarguments. She could only swallow her anger and say irritably, "Well, then, you can stay here."
With those words, she gracefully rose to her feet, and her lotus-like steps led her away. Her supple hips swayed gently beneath her skirt, outlining a perfect roundness. Lu Xun could hardly believe what he was seeing, and he narrowly avoided being completely entranced by the mature woman's seductive charm. Fortunately, his frequent exposure to such sights kept him from acting impulsively.
Having suffered under a covetous wife and an insatiable demoness, his desires remained as fervent as ever.
What a scoundrel.
"Big villain!"
"I want to eat the grilled meat you make," Xuan Shi said as she sat in Lu Xun's lap, snuggling up to him. Her big, expressive eyes were filled with a dreamy mist. She continued, "Season it generously, especially with the Western region's cumin and pepper."
"Grilled meat…"
"It might be a bit difficult to do it here. How about I grill a few deer for you when we go back?" Lu Xun spoke tenderly. "For now, I'll personally cook lunch for you, making a variety of delicious dishes—pork, lamb, fish—except for beef; it's not our home."
"Sounds great!"
Xuan Shi nodded repeatedly, her face filled with a cheerful smile. "I want to eat the lamb leg you made last time, the one boiled in plain water and dipped in salt. And also, those deep-fried carp, drizzled with a sweet and tangy sauce, and sprinkled with a crispy crust on top."
"I want three lamb legs, twenty carp, and for pork, let's go with spareribs. Cook them until the bones are soft," Xuan Shi excitedly listed her requests.
Lu Xun became increasingly helpless as he listened and couldn't help but lament internally. He felt like he was being treated like a servant. He regretted making such promises and digging himself into a hole.
"Alright, alright."
Lu Xun smiled ruefully. "You're even more demanding than your sister."
"Hehehe," Xuan Shi hugged him happily and said in a gentle tone, "But sister is even more troublesome."
"You both are quite demanding…"
Meanwhile, Mu Qingshuang was sulking in her own chamber. Her frustration wasn't coming from the little fox but from herself. Her two close friends had both found love, which happened too suddenly and unexpectedly, amplifying her own sense of solitude.
Knock, knock, knock.
There was a series of knocks on the door.
"Squeak…"
The little fox entered from outside, swaying her three furry tails. She hopped and skipped into the inner room and sat across from the charming widow. She nonchalantly poured herself a cup of tea and sipped it while swinging her legs.
"Why are you not accompanying your husband?" Mu Qingshuang asked casually.
"He's making lunch for us. I ordered three lamb legs, twenty carp, and a set of pork ribs. It's going to take about an hour, and it should be ready by noon," the little fox replied with a gentle smile.
He can cook too? Handsome, eloquent, gentle, and now he can cook?
Mu Qingshuang hadn't expected the young man to have so many virtues, especially ones that she found highly appealing. She gently bit her lip and muttered, "You're so lucky to have encountered such a great lover."
If only he were exclusively mine, but alas, he belongs to my sister, at least for now. I'm just using him temporarily. The little fox held her tea cup, her face full of concerns as she sipped the clear tea. Then, she said with a soft voice, "I also have many difficulties, but I can't share them with you."
"Don't worry about your figure, he will desire you sooner or later; you're so adorable and charming that no man can resist," Mu Qingshuang comforted with a smile.
The little fox frowned and quietly said, "It's not that. I know he will always desire me, and he has assured me about that. My difficulties are because of some… personal troubles."
Seeing her look so downcast, Mu Qingshuang debated her words for a while, deciding against saying what was on her mind, and finally asked softly,, "Let's look on the bright side and not dwell on the negative. By the way, when are you planning to go back?"
"Uh, maybe another two or three days, then I'll get ready to return," the little fox replied.
"What about your husband? Is he coming back with you, or does he have other plans?" Mu Qingshuang asked, seemingly indifferent.
"I'm not telling you!" The little fox suddenly became coy and replied playfully.
Mu Qingshuang rolled her eyes at her and said, "Afraid I'll steal your husband?"
"Hmph!"
"I'm not afraid at all," the little fox pouted. She said softly, "Don't underestimate the bond between him and me."
"Is that so?" Mu Qingshuang said with a teasing smile. "Let me tell you, men in this world are most susceptible to temptation."
"He's different," the little fox pursed her lips. She spoke playfully, "Anyway, you wouldn't understand."
Mu Qingshuang didn't press the issue further and shifted the conversation to various topics. However, her chatter eventually overwhelmed the little fox. After saying, "Call me when it's time to eat," the little fox lay down on Mu Qingshuang's bed and fell asleep, breathing softly.
"Why is this little girl tired again?" Mu Qingshuang tucked her in, then returned to her tea on the table.
Suddenly, a strange impulse welled up within her. She cautiously glanced at Xuan Shi, who was sound asleep, and gently placed her teacup down. With light footsteps, she silently left the room.
She arrived at the kitchen door, which was slightly ajar, revealing a gap about half a hand's width. Through this crack, the alluring widow saw the young and handsome man deeply focused on cleaning fish. His focused intensity stirred something within her, causing her heart to flutter.
"Madam?"
"What are you doing here?"
The widow, who was secretly peeking, hadn't noticed the presence of someone next to her. She was startled by her maid's voice, causing her to tremble all over. Her brows furrowed with alarm and unease.
"It's nothing," Mu Qingshuang nervously replied. She looked at her maid and, suppressing her shame, asked with a calm tone, "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, the young master inside asked me to buy some spices. So I did," the maid replied, while holding up a bag of spices.
Even though the maid was puzzled by the sudden appearance of a man in the mansion, she didn't dare to say anything more. After all, Madam Mu had expressly instructed against gossiping. Moreover, the lady had gone to great lengths to accommodate this man, even sending away many people from the mansion, indicating his significance.
Looking at the bag of spices in her maid's hand, Mu Qingshuang hesitated for a moment, seriously considering. She softly said, "Give me the spices."
The maid obediently handed over the spices and then withdrew.
Mu Qingshuang, holding the spices, tried to calm her inner emotions and took a deep breath. She gently pushed open the kitchen's wooden door.
