Chapter 185: The Cruel Foxes
Chapter 185: The Cruel Foxes
The foxes were easy to find. Many of them were sunning on the grass outside the village, looking relaxed as they basked in the warmth. But dont let how tiny and cute they are fool you. Adventurers made sure to give them a wide berth.
Monsters near the village wouldnt attack unless provoked. But every single one of them was strong so dont even think about attacking them solo. Even with a team, it was hopeless.
Feng Wu walked alone to the den. They looked just like the foxes found on Earth because they were mob designs created by Longze. They werent real beasts and didnt have any sentience.
Feng Wu couldn't sense any life from them so she knew it was useless to try and communicate. She wanted to find the new clothes and she knew it was hidden inside one of the foxes. She took out a rusty sword, a newbie weapon, and used it to poke at one of the little foxes.
Just that tiny poke roused the entire skulk's ire. It was like stabbing a hornets nest. In an instant the lazy, cute foxes turned into ferocious monsters. Their eyes flashed and drool dripped from their mouths as their furry faces contorted hideously.
They glared and slashed. Then leapt and tried to bite her.
A bite from their sharp teeth would have been incredibly painful. No wonder adventurers avoided them, preferring instead to pick up other tasks. Pain was 100% genuine in the virtual world. Who would go directly in the foxes path and abuse themselves like that?
Feng Wu swung her sword and the tiny foxes trying to get a piece of her flopped away. Adventurers passing by were surprised at the scene. How could such a cutie have such lethal abilities?
Feng Wu used techniques Flower Sword and Willow in the Wind to easily dispatched the foxes.
A pile of copper, fur and other materials dropped to the ground. In the pile was a ladys fancy undergarments. Feng Wu picked them up. A line of text appeared after she did.
Task completed. Adventurer may return to the village to hand in the items.
That put Feng Wu in a good mood. She scooped everything into her backpack and returned to the village for her reward.
Her level rose to 3 because of the foxes. This can be considered fast.
Everyone in Novice knew killing mobs was a fast way to level up, much faster than completing tasks, but they couldnt defeat the murderous mobs outside the village, so what could they do? They could only look at mobs from the safety of the village. Mobs lived an easy life, while they themselves worked hard to clean toilets, chicken coops and pigpens. It was hard work.
Not everyone knew the virtual world was created as a training ground to refine their abilities, so they were bewildered at how strong the monsters were. Mobs were designed to be as strong as real magical beasts in the physical world. So if the adventurers wanted to defeat the monsters here, they would have to get stronger themselves.
Several adventurers moved toward the den after Feng Wu left. They didnt believe these were the infamous foxes mentioned in the task. No way could a girl beat them down so easily if they were.
A pity those fools used their lives to prove it was true. Their foray ended in death and they found themselves resurrected at their last save point. The disbelievers lamented. Why had they been so stupid?! Hadnt they seen how other people hid? Some heroes they turned out to be.
Never mind the regret though, the death experience was enough to make them drink the pain away. They would be too scared to sleep for a few days.
Those observing retreated after witnessing the carnage. Too scary, too scary! Lucky they were too slow to join in initially, otherwise they would have died too!
Dear adventurer, have you brought back my new clothes? The chiefs wife asked as she looked expectantly at Feng Wu.
Feng Wu nodded and took out the clothes. These were the chiefs wifes new undergarments.
You are so powerful! Dear adventurer I must thank you! Your sword skills are so powerful! I shall give you this sword. With it, your strength will surely increase! She took out a long black sword.
Feng Wu accepted it expressionlessly. Information about the sword appeared in her vision. It was a bronze sword without any special attributes, but it was still an improvement over her freebie iron sword. In a good mood, Feng Wu thanked the village chiefs wife.
Dear adventurer, my friend, Mrs. Luna seems to have something on her mind recently. I think you will be able to help her. Will you help me find her? The woman had a gracious smile on her face.
Feng Wu nodded and said yes to accept the task.
Chain quest! If Ai Lin had been there she would have surely yelled this. Chain quests were great to get!
While Feng Wu was accepting her new quest, Zi Cheng and Yifu were busy working on their own tasks.
Zi Cheng didnt play online games or read the genre so she wasnt familiar with the current setting, but she did have experience playing regular web based games on her phone, so she had a vague idea about what was going on.
