Chapter 112: The End of the Trial
Chapter 112: The End of the Trial
Unknown to everyone, Zeke actually keeps a tally of the number of [Conjures] defeated by every member of the elites. He placed the counter as soon as the fight began, and this isn't as simple as placing a single count per kill of a [Conjured].
All the skills used.
Every digit of damage dealt.
The speed of the fight.
How many can be killed at one.
Zeke placed much attention on all the data provided, having a huge screen in front of him provided for by the [Gamer's System]. Quinn leads on some aspects but, when it comes to healing done, support provided and, the amount of damage received, he is completely beat.
Zeke also made sure to note every move that wasn't necessary. Every habitual act that could place their lives on danger. Every pattern that is too risky and all these other things.
"Not too shabby." Zeke commented, witnessing the final moments of the fight.
It must be noted that the elites are already tired because of Heron's training. In fact, it would've been better to give them a shuteye first. But what Zeke needs is data of their fighting capacity when they are on the brink of exhaustion. He already has an understanding of their full power. What he wants to know is how well they deal with situations even when both their minds and bodies are already strained.
A few more minutes passed after this and, the elites have finally mowed down all of Zeke's [Conjures]. Even with the general ranked [Conjures], the elites didn't have too much of a hard time. After all, Quinn already defeated three all on his own, leaving only two for the group to eliminate.
*huff*
*huff*
"We're done here right?" Mordred asked, looking at the cleaned-up battlefield.
*pant*
"Yeah I guess so." Was Kaguya's reply who had a harder time breathing because she only woke up recently.
Some of the elites actually thought that they could gain experience points from the fight. Much to their surprise however, there wasn't anything added to the count. This is because the [Conjures] are summoned by Zeke who isn't a hostile enemy. Thus, no experience points can come out of it.
"That's a shame. They would've easily gone past 20 levels if the [Conjures] provided any experience points." Zeke commented, finally coming down from where he is and towards the exhausted Elites.
He clapped at them as all their attention is already fixed on him. Beside Zeke are Harun and Morpheus who both gave a huge thumbs up to the group.
"You actually did it huh." Zeke said as if there was some doubt in his mind that the elites wouldn't win.
"Of course we did. We're the elites after all." Quinn replied proudly.
"Ahh yes, the cockiness that comes with being young and ignorant." Zeke thought to himself, holding himself back from actually telling this to Quinn.
"First of all, I need you all to look at this." Zeke said to them, snapping his fingers and creating a data screen provided by his [System].
"That includes all of the statistics that comes with your fight earlier. It's good and all that you can kill my [Conjures] but if you don't have any idea how it is that you did so in the most efficient way, then you're just improving without any clear goal." Zeke said to them.
The realization immediately dawned on the group. They looked at the numbers but, because of all the strain that they are already on, they couldn't make a good understanding of all the data. Zeke saw this and, decided to just leave everything else for later.
"Okay it's settled then! You guys are coming with me." Zeke continued and before the group could even make any comments, Zeke followed his statement.
"I'll provide you some of the details after but, for now, there's somewhere I need to be. Heron and Morpheus will tend to all your needs." Zeke said, turning around and giving command to his two subordinates.
"Oh and, as a graduation gift from being useless to being not entirely useless, I've given each of you a set of equipment that'd help you get even stronger. Feel free to get them at our hideout." At this, Zeke vanished, leaving the group all to themselves.
"He seems to be fond of doing that." Jake commented, remembering how Zeke used the same move on their first mock battle session.
There is are a limited number of places where Zeke cold go. Although the demon continent is vast, he will not go to areas such as fortresses of generals that have already been conquered. So where is he exactly?
"Let's see, a hundred from the north, and some hundred and fifty from the southwest area. Hmmm not much going on the other parts huh." Zeke commented as he looked at his [Minimap]. The gamer floated lazily on top of the farm, high enough to not be noticed by any of the demon farmers.
On his [Minimap] Zeke keenly observed all the red dots that came closer and closer toward the farm. They are at least a whole day away from the farm but, Zeke doesn't plan to let them get any closer.
Even though it is only a single day which has passed, Zeke knows that news travels fast within the Demon Continent. In fact, he figured that it would only take another day before the generals make their move again. But his expectations were exceeded. Because right now, troops are already marching towards the farm.
"Those mounted soldiers are probably their runners." Zeke said, begging his preparations.
The only reason Zeke could think of as to why the number is this much is to ensure that, at least one of the soldiers could run back bringing with him or her all the information gathered from the farm. Zeke applauded the foresight of the generals but, pitied how shortsighted they still are.
He took out his twin pistols and, loaded a single bullet on each. Without the enemy soldiers even noticing it, Zeke has begun surrounding them with a cloud of mana similar to that which is being used by Heron. But it is much thinner, making it seem as nothing more than normal air. Unaware of it, the soldiers are entering unto an area that has all mana, noise, and all other things silenced.
[Explosion]
[Burst Damage]
[AoE Amplification]
[Death's Embrace]
[Range Extension]
[Greater Accuracy]
[Acceleration]
Zeke activated seven skills at once, adding their effects to the charged bullets. He checked the coordinates carefully, ensuring that all enemy units enter within the special area he created. They couldn't sense it, let alone see it. And, as soon as all of the troops got inside, Zeke pulled the trigger, releasing a mass of light that sliced through the air.
Both bullets shot looked a lot like meteors falling from the sky. Staying only for a second as they reached their target. Immediately, the bullets expanded into humongous explosions, spiraling around a single area which is covered by Zeke's mist.
The soldiers all screamed for their life but, everything is too late. The bullets only took a moment to do their job. Within two seconds, the skill effect cleared. And on the ground, there is nothing left but scattered blood and remains of creatures which are too dismantled to make anything out of.
"Conjure." Zeke began his normal ritual, wanting to have as many of these summons as possible before he lets loose and wages a war against the whole continent. While he performed this, Zeke looked at all the lot gained from his little surprise attack. There's not much to the items but, once forged, Zeke could create [S] tier equipment out of them.
He then proceeded to the next area and as he did, an arrow came flying towards him. The arrow itself is infused with magic, making it faster and able to pierce even better. He caught it of course and immediately fired a bullet toward the direction it came from. Zeke didn't hit anything, telling him that the opponent is probably even farther than he thinks.
He then looked at the arrow on his hand. Something about it seemed oddly familiar even though he already has a new body. There is a gut feeling that Zeke just couldn't shake off. And, to his surprise, a message is tied to it. Zeke took this off and, soon enough a smile formed on his face.
"We have seen your face. Rest assured that our forces will soon come hunting you down." There is nothing noteworthy with the letter itself. In fact, it passes as nothing more than an empty threat as Zeke could even wipe out 5,000 soldiers all on his own. But, it is the emblem burnt at the bottom of the paper which got him riled up.
"It's interesting to see how the Windsprite sigil is being used by some general on this continent." Zeke said, placing the piece of paper on his inventory
He knows that there are still a lot of pieces to the puzzle which he has yet to discover. He also knows that Glade won't leave the continents without actually having reliable individuals guarding them. And so, even with all his strength, Zeke still treaded carefully. After all, a lot of things can happen in the battlefield. And with the letter he just read, he feels that some unpleasant events are soon to follow.
"Okay, I think that should be enough for now." Zeke said, finally returning to the hideout to meet the elites.
