The Fake Heiress's Inner Thoughts Were Heard by Her Entire Family

Chapter 267

“Grandma, look, this is my room, and next door is my sister’s…”

Little Jing Yi excitedly held up her phone, showing her new room to the grandma from the orphanage. The room had been prepared in advance, but the overall style was finalized only after Jing Yi returned.

Most of the room’s arrangements were done with Jing Yi’s input, and she absolutely loved it.

In the video, the orphanage grandma smiled, the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes deepening. It was clear that Little Jing Yi had found a family who truly cared for her.

To be honest, even now, she couldn’t quite figure out what the Jing Family saw in Little Jing Yi. She prayed and worried at the same time.

She feared that the Jing Family might have ulterior motives, and she also worried that Little Jing Yi might only share the good news and hide any troubles. But the joy on Jing Yi’s face seemed genuine.

“And this, this little table was picked out by Mom and Dad when they took me shopping…”

The grandma listened quietly as Little Jing Yi shared every detail of her life since returning to the Jing Family. Her aged eyes were filled with affection.

She needed to live a little longer, at least long enough to see Little Jing Yi enjoy more good days.

Most children in the orphanage were unfortunate, and like many others, Little Jing Yi had her share of misfortune, though hers was a bit different.

It wasn’t uncommon for children to be left at the orphanage’s doorstep. Most parents did so with a hint of pity; otherwise, these children might have been left in some forgotten corner.

Unnoticed, until they vanished from the world.

Little Jing Yi had also been left at the orphanage’s doorstep, but it was during a harsh winter, wrapped in a thin little quilt, placed there in the cold.

“Mom, do you see a child over there?”

The world outside was blanketed in snow, so bright it made the grandma’s eyes water. Her vision was already poor, and in such conditions, she could barely see.

She and her daughter supported each other as they walked over. The child was so cold that her cries were faint, almost inaudible.

The grandma took the child back, and fortunately, she survived—a healthy little girl.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

She never hid this from Little Jing Yi. All the children in the orphanage had the right to know their origins. Only by knowing where they came from could they let go of their worries and move forward.

This was what made Little Jing Yi different. Even she couldn’t understand whether the person who left her there wanted her to live or not.

She thought this mystery would never be solved, but then she met that couple.

The news of Little Jing Yi being adopted by such a family couldn’t be kept quiet. After Jing Zeyou and the others left, the principal of the local elementary school was quickly replaced.

Now, everyone in town was talking about how Little Jing Yi had been adopted by a wealthy family.

The orphanage grandma had been focusing on taking care of the remaining children, as the Jing Family had donated a large sum of money, enough to provide a better and larger home for the kids.

She and her daughter were discussing these matters when the couple showed up.

“Who are you?”

The man was tall, scanning the orphanage with a calculating look in his eyes.

The woman was thin, her chin sharp. When she saw the orphanage grandma and her daughter, she seemed disappointed but also peered behind them, as if searching for someone.

“Hello, we are…”

The woman seemed hesitant, glancing at the man beside her. He spoke impatiently, “Did you have a girl adopted from here?”

The grandma’s daughter didn’t like their attitude. The man’s imposing figure made her instinctively shield the grandma, her eyes wary.

“This is an orphanage. It’s normal for children to be adopted. Who are you, and what do you want?”

Seeing their reaction, the woman quickly stepped in, her voice soft, “You’ve misunderstood. We’re here to find our daughter. You must have taken in a girl about seven or eight years ago, on the 25th of the twelfth lunar month, wrapped in a floral quilt…”

As the woman provided more details, the grandma’s heart grew heavier. Her daughter also realized who they were looking for.

The two exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with concern.

These were Little Jing Yi’s parents.

“Big Brother said I can start school next week with my sister, and we’ll be in the same class. Second Brother is also at that school…”

Little Jing Yi was still excitedly telling the grandma about everything that had happened since she returned. She didn’t notice the growing weight in the grandma’s expression.

“Oh, Grandma, Big Brother said I can visit you during the holidays. Mom and Dad have a big plane, so I can fly to see you. It’ll be so convenient!”

The grandma looked at Little Jing Yi with a warm smile. “Alright, I’ll be waiting for you, Yi Yi.” But as she watched Jing Yi’s joyful expression, her heart ached.

Her Little Jing Yi had only just started to enjoy a good life.

The grandma smiled, though her lips trembled slightly. “Yi Yi, is your Big Brother around?”

She couldn’t tell Little Jing Yi; she was still just a child. She could only hope that the young man would handle this matter properly.

Little Jing Yi nodded obediently. “Yes, Big Brother is probably in his study. Do you need to talk to him, Grandma?” The grandma nodded with a smile. “There’s something I need to discuss with him. Could you ask if he has time?”

“Sure!”

Little Jing Yi climbed down from the sofa and headed to Jing Zeyou’s study with the phone in hand.

Just as she reached the door, she ran into Jing Zeqian, who was coming out. He crouched down and scooped her up.

“What’s up? Are you looking for Second Brother? Where do you want to go today?”

Before Little Jing Yi could explain that she was looking for Jing Zeyou, Jing Zeqian had already thrown out several suggestions. “How about the water park? Or should we sign you up for martial arts first? Or maybe bumper cars?”

Little Jing Yi shook her head seriously. “Second Brother, I’m not a little kid anymore. Besides, I’ll be starting school soon, so I need to focus on studying. And I’m here to bring Grandma to talk to Big Brother.”

She waved the phone, and the kind old woman on the screen smiled at him.

Jing Zeqian’s smile froze. “Hello!” Oh no, would she think he wasn’t mature enough?

He obediently led her inside, but as soon as Little Jing Yi handed the phone over, she pulled him back out.

After closing the door, Little Jing Yi motioned for Jing Zeqian to lean in closer.

He crouched down. “What’s up? Don’t you want to hear what Grandma and Big Brother are talking about?” Little Jing Yi shook her head and whispered, “Second Brother, let’s go play bumper cars today.”

Jing Zeqian was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter, startling Little Jing Yi, who nearly covered his mouth, her eyes darting toward the study door.

“Second Brother, Big Brother and Grandma are discussing something important!”

“Well, well, Jing Yi Yi, weren’t you just talking about focusing on your studies?”

Little Jing Yi felt a little guilty. Grandma always said she should study hard no matter what, but she hadn’t even started school yet! And there were so many fun things she hadn’t tried.

Jing Zeqian laughed and ruffled her hair. “Alright! After lunch, we’ll go out and play! Bumper cars it is!”

“And Sister too.”

“Yes, and Sister too.”
