Chapter 737: Upsetting Allegations
(Luke’s POV)
It took Luke less than 30 minutes, working alongside Leo and the others, to completely annihilate every last member of the DarkSky guild in Gattuso Town, finally liberating it from their control.
During this brief but intense battle, Luke gained a newfound appreciation for the formidable companions he had joined in this war and took the opportunity to measure himself against them.
In his assessment, Leo stood far above the rest as the strongest, with Dumpy the ancient swamp frog’s immense power trailing closely behind—though its full capabilities were difficult to gauge.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Following them was PinkLotus, her skill undeniable, while Luke himself clearly ranked as the weakest of the group.
‘Yeah… this is exactly where I need to be’, Luke thought, surprising himself with the positivity of his reflection.
‘Unlike when I am with the DarkSky guild, I’m not the strongest here—I’m the weakest. And that’s what will make me grow’ Luke thought, as a soft smile spread on his face.
“I’m the only non-master warrior in this group, I need to improve fast” Luke muttered to himself, as he felt his desire to become stronger and better, growing with each passing moment.
“Brother, I think we are done here, I’m going to log-out, I’ll see you on the other side” Leo said, waving him goodbye, as after conquering the town, Leo simply logged out of the game, half-way through the gaming session, without even caring how much daylight was still left for them to enjoy.“What? Why does he even do this?” Luke muttered in confusion, as he simply shook his head and chuckled.
Then, with Leo gone, he opened the global forums for a moment, to take a look at what the people were talking about, as was his daily habit, however, when he logged into the global forums, he surprisingly only saw a bunch of hate comments directed at him.
“Skylion, one of the top players of the game and an ex-DarkSky guild member, has betrayed all of us. He’s a dirty little snake attacking his own guilds stronghold after leaving on his own accord”
“I looked up to SkyLion as a DarkSky guild member, in my heart his position was as unshakeable as the heavens.
When he participated in the grand tournament and was dropping his opponents on their heads via suplexes, I was the loudest cheer in the crowd, however, today when he dropped me on my head, I started to despise him.
I’ve never hated someone as much as I hate him, for i lost 3 levels from dying by his hands and also dropped my (epic) ranked sword upon death, that took me 7 months of savings to buy.
This setback is going to cost me a lifetime to recover, and for this situation to have arisen because I met one of my heroes is just deplorable.
Skylion is a snake”
“At this point, Skylion should just leave the lion out of his name and change it to a snake, because he loves to bite the hand that once fed him”
“I was sad when Skylion left the guild… but now I’m glad we got rid of such a toxic and unstable guy–”
Luke felt his heartbeats rising steadily when he read these hate comments, as he could feel the rage building inside him.
He was sure that it wasn’t him that had betrayed the DarkSky guild, but the guild that had betrayed him, however, he was too much of a gentleman to expose what had gone down behind the scenes.
He had taken a dignified exit from the guild and was now his own man, however, the forums painted him as if he were still an active guild member who backstabbed them.
“These guys make me sick to my core” Luke mumbled as he closed the forum chat and closed his eyes to relax.
He could feel the rage bubbling within him, as he struggled to hold his calm.
At his core he was a guy who cared about his public view too much and seeing himself being bashed online with all this hate messed up his mindset big-time.
However, unlike before, he felt better equipped to tackle it today, as instead of snapping back and bantering on the forums, he simply took in a deep breath and focus on his mental peace instead.
“The world can say what they want about me, but the fact remains that I gained two levels today from this war.
I’m rapidly improving by coming here and am also getting a chance to use my untested skills in practical combat, getting used to a new fighting style.
Today was hence a productive day, and nothing can upset me about it” Luke said to himself, as let inhaled and exhaled deep breaths trying to bring his heart-rate down.
“You okay? You’re breathing a little uneasy…” PinkLotus asked when she saw Luke struggling in a corner, as immediately Luke smiled and gave her a thumbs up.
“Yeah, I’m okay, don’t worry” he said, putting forward his best face, as although PinkLotus was not convinced by his reply, she simply nodded and smiled back.
She knew that this war was always going to be hard on Luke, however, so far he seemed to be handling it exceptionally well.
He fought without showing his opponents any mercy and did not shy away from killing them rather brutally.
He was here with the intent to fight, which made PinkLotus feel satisfied in his performance.
However, while Luke’s performance today impressed her, Dumpy’s performance outright shocked her, as the frog, who was also a swordsman seemed to be both faster and stronger than her.
Dumpy’s strength impressed her today to the point where she felt on the edge to ask the creature for a spar, however, when she realized it was an NPC and not even a human one, she restrained herself from the embarassment.
‘Its just a stupid pet…’ she thought, however, while she thought Dumpy was just a stupid pet, his strength still left a deep impression in her mind.
