Chapter 15 - The Value of Attribute Points × Huge Loss!

Chapter 15: The Value of Attribute Points × Huge Loss!

“What a little monster!”

Netero gazed at the collapsed Lorraine, his eyes brimming with awe and excitement.

Compressing one’s perception of time through sheer mental will!

Netero had stumbled upon this realm at the age of forty-six, when both his martial arts and physical prowess reached their zenith. In gratitude to the art that had shaped him, he spent two years in the mountains, performing ten thousand thankful punches daily. Only then did he accidentally step into this miraculous state.

Even after that, it took him several more years to perfect it.

But today…

He saw it in a young, inexperienced boy.

Though Lorraine’s performance was undoubtedly immature and far from his own limits, it was still shocking beyond belief.

What puzzled Netero the most…

How did Lorraine achieve such speed with a body that wasn’t particularly strong?

When Netero entered this state, his body had already reached the peak of human potential. Even so, it took years of training for his body to adapt to such speed.

Otherwise, compressing time would merely extend one’s perception before death—without the body being able to match the mind’s reactions.

Watching Lorraine lying on the ground, utterly drained, Netero began to form a theory.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

“A bona fide monster,” Netero silently cursed, though his lips curled into a smile.

He hadn’t been mistaken after all.

“That kid’s out cold. You two want to give it a go?” Netero turned to Gon and Killua.

Hmm…

There’s no harm in grooming playmates before the real hunt begins.

“I’m in! I want to try!”

“I’m out. I surrender!”

Gon and Killua gave completely opposite responses, then turned to each other in confusion.

“Hey, Gon, didn’t you see the fight? That old man is on a whole different level. We have no chance of getting the ball,” Killua huffed.

“I know! But even if I can’t get the ball, I want to see if I can enter Lorraine’s state,” Gon’s eyes sparkled with excitement and anticipation.

Though simple-minded, Gon wasn’t foolish. Lorraine wasn’t much stronger than him before. If Lorraine could suddenly become that powerful, Gon wanted to try too.

Killua paused, then scoffed.

“Do whatever you want! I’m going to bed, but don’t get your hopes up…” he said, casting a glance at Lorraine before walking off.

Unlike Gon, Killua fully grasped how outrageous Lorraine and Netero’s display was.

As Killua left, Gon turned eagerly to Netero. “Mr. Netero, let’s start! I want to be like Lorraine!”

Netero blinked, impressed by Gon’s determination.

In over a century, he had only encountered one such monster. Still, he smiled and encouraged, “Alright, let’s see if you can pull it off.”

Listening to Gon and Netero’s conversation and the start of their game, Lorraine didn’t mock Gon.

He knew Gon had potential too.

In the Chimera Ant arc, Gon’s forced growth through a vow turned him into “Black Gon,” capable of true Heart Drop Fist Listening with Killua in Godspeed.

Although they hadn’t spoken, Killua heard Black Gon’s remorse.

However, for Gon to reach that potential without forced growth, he’d need decades of training, just like Netero.

Still…

“Why can I do it?” Lorraine wondered.

He didn’t believe he was comparable to Netero or a transformed Gon. So why could he so easily enter that ultra-high-speed state?

The answer appeared in his mind.

Lorraine focused.

[Level 100 Deity System]

  • Name:Lorraine
  • Level:1 (20/1000)
  • Vitality:1
  • Mental Strength:1
  • World:Hunter x Hunter

Undoubtedly, his entry into that state was due to his single point in vitality and mental strength.

Initially, he thought one point of vitality simply made him stronger than ordinary people, and one point of mental strength helped him control his body better.

But now…

“The value of these points is far greater than I imagined!” Lorraine murmured.

Then, he noticed a change on the system panel.

“Experience: 20?” Lorraine froze.

He clearly remembered starting the second test with 14 experience points. The physical exertion since then shouldn’t have earned him even one point.

So…

“Did I just gain this?” His heart raced.

It seemed he’d found a shortcut to leveling up: the ultra-high-speed state that compressed time perception!

Examining his exhausted body, Lorraine recalled his theory that experience was tied to physical training.

It made sense.

No—it didn’t make sense at all!

With his stamina, he could run all day without collapsing like this. Running for a day might earn him dozens of experience points.

Yet now, after such fatigue, he had only gained six points.

Was that reasonable?

Absolutely not!

Lorraine’s excitement turned into frustration.

“I’ve been ripped off!”
