Chapter 104 Chapter 77 Intense Chase_2

104  Chapter 77 Intense Chase_2

The armed helicopter's naval cannon attack missed its mark and failed to hit Yan Fei. Instead, it left a string of potholes on the highway. Seeing Yan Fei jump off the bridge, the armed helicopter quickly turned around and began attacking Yan Fei under the bridge. However, due to the angle, it couldn't hit Yan Fei and only managed to send stone chips flying from the bridge piers.

The motorcycle rider who had collided with Yan Fei quickly caught up, pulled out the injured Ryoko Oogawa from the sports car, bloodied with a broken head, placed her on the back seat, and sped away swiftly.

The armed helicopter in the sky launched a fierce attack at Yan Fei's hiding spot, making it impossible for Yan Fei to even consider surfacing. Yan Fei seemed to be in grave danger, but he was not in a hurry. For he had activated his Drone Avatar lurking in Tokyo Bay the moment he had entered that room.

Once the drone was activated, it sped towards Yan Fei's location. To avoid detection, the drone's flight altitude was less than five meters. Yan Fei was determined to kill Ryoko Oogawa tonight, so he would use all his strength, being extra cautious, knowing that this was not his home court.

As the armed helicopter was fiercely attacking Yan Fei, a gigantic beast suddenly rose from the river surface far away and charged towards the armed helicopter. It turned out that Yan Fei's Drone Avatar had arrived at the critical moment.

The armed helicopter in the sky also spotted the drone, but before they could react, they saw the drone fire an air-to-air missile at them. The armed helicopter was taken by surprise and quickly maneuvered to evade while releasing decoy flares. However, with the Drone Quantum Radar's lock-on, the armed helicopter's evasive actions and decoy flares were rendered useless. The air-to-air missile avoided the flare's interference and struck the armed helicopter directly. The armed helicopter exploded violently, sending a burst of flames into the sky, and its fiery wreckage plummeted to the ground, setting the surrounding grass alight.

No sooner had the drone appeared than it displayed its might by taking down an armed helicopter from the Japan Self-Defense Force, eliminating the greatest threat to Yan Fei. With the armed helicopter no longer interfering, Yan Fei climbed back onto the bridge, found his motorcycle, and was ready to direct the drone to pursue the fleeing Ryoko Oogawa when he spotted two white flames approaching from afar, aimed straight at the Drone Avatar.

The drone's Quantum Radar quickly scanned the area and detected the two incoming air-to-air missiles. The drone swiftly turned around, and its naval cannon began firing, blasting the incoming missiles out of the sky.

Then, two fighter jets appeared in the distant sky, bearing the insignia of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, indicating they were combat aircraft from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. From their shape, Yan Fei immediately recognized the two fighter jets as Japan's main F-2 Fighters, produced with technology from the US F-16. These fighters were at the same technological level as the two US F-16s he had shot down in Africa.

Yan Fei knew Ryoko Oogawa must have sent out a distress signal, but he hadn't expected the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's fighter jets to be the ones coming to her rescue. For most people, the appearance of armed helicopters and F-2 Fighters would mean an immediate retreat, as killing the target under such protective measures would be harder than reaching heaven. However, Ryoko Oogawa knew too much about Yan Fei's secrets, and if those secrets were leaked, it would spell doom for Yan Fei. Hence, Ryoko Oogawa had to die tonight, even with two F-2 Fighters above his head, Yan Fei was determined to kill her.

Seeing their own missiles destroyed, the two F-2s shuddered, and each launched another air-to-air missile at the drone. The Drone Avatar did not bother with the threat of these two missiles; rather, it closed the distance to the F-2s at top speed. When the missiles got close enough, the drone fired its naval cannon to destroy them.

In that brief moment, the drone had drastically closed the distance with the two F-2 Fighters. The pilots of the F-2s were still reeling from their missiles being shot down by the drone and had yet to realize the danger when suddenly the drone shuddered and three balls of fire appeared. It turned out that upon getting close to the F-2s, the Drone Avatar had fired three air-to-air missiles at them simultaneously.

The F-2s were still underestimating the power of the drone, viewing it with conventional thinking, which is why they were shocked when the drone's naval cannon shot down their missiles, and they didn't pay much attention when the drone drew closer. When they saw the drone fire three air-to-air missiles at once, they quickly recognized the danger and hurriedly performed evasive maneuvers while releasing decoy flares, according to tactical protocols. To their amazement, no matter how they dodged or deployed decoy flares, the three air-to-air missiles doggedly pursued them.

The distance between the two F-2s and the drone varied, and under the lock of the Quantum Radar, the closest F-2 Fighter was targeted, and its forward escape route was blocked by two missiles. With no escape, the F-2 pilot had no choice but to eject. Just as he ejected from the cockpit, his plane was struck by the two missiles and exploded in mid-air, creating a fiery blossom.

The other F-2 was further from the drone, and after a few acceleration maneuvers, it had reached a distance of ten kilometers, which was beyond the maximum attack range of the air-to-air missiles, causing the missile pursuing it to self-destruct.

The pilot of that F-2, greatly alarmed, noticed the missile behind him self-destructing and continued to fly away. Albeit he had reached a distance of ten kilometers from the drone, he didn't completely leave the area but instead hovered nearby, keeping an eye on the drone.

If the drone chased after the F-2, the fighter would just keep its distance. The drone's maximum speed was only 1000 kilometers/hour, nearly Mach 1, while the F-2 could reach speeds up to Mach 2.2. Even if the drone fired air-to-air missiles at the F-2, their attack speed was only Mach 2.2. But because the F-2 had already put distance between itself and the drone, the drone's air-to-air missiles could not catch up with the F-2.

Yan Fei had fired only four missiles in order to create the illusion that the drone was out of missiles—the same trick he had used before—to lure the last F-2 into a trap. Unexpectedly, the F-2 was exceedingly cautious. Even after calculating that the drone might be out of missiles, it didn't approach carelessly but kept its distance, interfering with the drone from afar.

Therefore, for the moment, the drone couldn't catch up to the F-2, yet the F-2 could, in turn, constrain the drone, preventing it from supporting Yan Fei in combat. The aerial battlefield fell into a stalemate.
