Speed Is King

Red’s Transport/Fighter unleashed ten smaller units and the eleven of them began a vicious rampage to the north of the tower.

He had modified and expanded his ride to allow ten cute little birds to join him as little pilots of ten cute little fighters.

The ten birds were newbies, and weren’t really good fliers. But that Beast Tide was the perfect place for them to “practice”. Coincidentally, as mini meat grinders, it was also the perfect event for them to make their glorious debut and shine bright like a diamond! (Lol)

They were able to fly and crash their fighters through the huge mass of ants and rack up kill after kill at zero danger to their cute little lives.

Afterall, Red had designed their fighters with safety as priority number one, and penetrative power as priority numbers two to ten!

Through a series of advanced neural networks, the ten cute little birds were able to access Elliot’s public mindspace through Red.

And boy, did they make a splash in their debut.

One: “Haiyaaa! Bildie numbel one coming thlu! Make way! Make way! Wait! No! No make way! No move! Let me clash thlu youl body!”

Two: “Bildie numbel two lepolting fol duty! Boss Led! Whele al youuu? So many ants!! Ahhh!”

Three: “Bildie numbel thleeee! I go I go I go! Boom! Boom! Bildie numbel fol, watch outttt!!!!!!”

Four: “Bildie numbel thleee! Why u clash me? Look! You make me kill cute baby ant! Boo hooo!”

Five: “Bildie numbel fol! Why you clying? No cly! I help you kill the ants! I supel cool!”

Six: “Bildie numbel fol! I cool too! I help you kill!”

Seven: “… You bildies… Why so noisy!”

Eight: Whele am I? Why so many scaly ants? So big too! Hey! No bite me! No bite me! Take thisss!!!

Nine: Big ants! Big food!

Ten: “Bildie numbel fol! Whele al you! I no see you!!”

For a few moments, the public mindspace were stunned into complete silence.

“Kyaaaaaa! Why are they so cute?! I want one!!” Khellendra was the first to break the silence with a loud scream!

“I need a place to bang my head… This must be a nightmare. Red just cloned himself and made ten crazy baby versions of him. This can’t be true…” Brock muttered loudly as he smashed up the giant ants with his powerful paws.

He was paired with Winter who merely grimaced and continued to efficiently kill all the ants around her. She didn’t say it, but like Brock, she dreaded having their public mindspace invaded by ten mini versions of Red!

“Little birdies. Keep quiet. Talk in your own mindgroup if you want. This mindspace is for battle orders and emergency reports only.” Wu Kong said sternly even though his mouth was curled into a smile.

“Oooooh. Scaly. Vely scaly.” A birdie whispered.

“Okok, go talk in your mindgroup.” Red said with a sigh.

“Awww. Can I join that mind group?” Khellendra asked.

“No. Sorry, birds only.” Red immediately said. “If you want to join, you need to pay me a registration fee! Hehehe.”

“Enough. Rom, Blue Dragons, Kai, prepare for combat. We have incoming flying ants!” Wu Kong said sternly. “Take one direction each. Master, Kai would need to be assisted.”

“Ok. Jessica, please assist that cute little flying wolf.” Elliot said with a smile. He was very impressed by Wu Kong’s ability to command his beasts, and was content for him to arrange everything.

“Okay! Finally. I can’t wait to try out my new skills!” Jessica said happily and immediately shot up to the sky to take her place next to Kai.

“Big Bro! I want to fight too!” Jennifer said while tugging at Elliot’s sleeve.

“Wu Kong, please assign Jennifer a job.” Elliot sighed and relented.

“Mistress Jennifer can go and help Winter. With their mind-link, they should be able to exhibit synergistic efficiency.” Wu Kong replied.

“Okay. You can go and join Winter.” Elliot told Jennifer who immediately leapt down the thirty meter tall tower and charged towards Winter!

Brock and Winter were turning out to be an excellent pair. Winter was able to slow down many enemies with her ice-related area of effect attacks, and Brock was able to unleash pure destruction with his heavy-pawed attacks.

With the addition of Jennifer and her powerful area of effect attacks, they were efficiently holding the line to the west of the tower.

Ellie and Rex were to the south, and at that moment, they had their paws completely full! They were slightly weaker compared to Brock and Winter, and they lacked area of effect skills. So they were supported by Aldera who would cast an occasional Azure Lightning Blast to help them, and Blessings of the Wolf Goddess when they needed it.

Thankfully Frosty was right next to them to the East with her freezing field which made the ants slow down drastically!

Frosty took the East by herself and her six loyal Armored Kaijins where she had a relatively easy time killing all of her frozen enemies.

Together with the Darklight Summons who ended up fighting alongside them, they held the giant fire ants completely at bay!

Elliot and Wu Kong merely stood at the top of the tower and prepared to help as and when help was required.

“Ellie and Rex seemed to be awfully short handed down at the south.” Elliot remarked.

“Yes, Master. They need the extra levels.” Wu Kong simply smiled and replied.

“I see. Good thinking.” Elliot smiled.

Everything was going very smoothly. His beasts’ killing rate was so fast that they actually almost matched the rate at which the ants were rushing out of their holes!

At that rate, they would definitely have no problems clearing the first wave. Afterall, the ants were limited in number and would eventually stop pouring out of the many holes on the ground.

The giant red fire ants stopped streaming out of the holes, and the number of living ants began to plummet.

“We’re winning.” Elliot said softly.

“Yes. And with zero casualties.” Wu Kong added. “It’s a good first wave.”

“Very, very good indeed. I think I gained almost a hundred stat points from my own and the apostles’ level ups.” Elliot grinned widely.

Far away, El’Taras was grinning widely too. His plan to make Elliot get stronger was going perfectly so far!
