Chapter 129: The Pulse of the Forbidden
The stone door closed behind us with a deep, echoing thud, leaving only the eerie glow of the walls to guide our way. I started the stream, adjusting the camera to capture the narrow, twisting passage ahead, as well as the tense figures of Kijin and Raijuu beside me.
"All right, everyone," I whispered, keeping my voice low. "Welcome to the Forbidden Floors. This place… it's different. Feels like the dungeon itself is alive."
The chat instantly filled with reactions:
: WOAH Forbidden Floors reveal! Finally, the rumors were true?
: This is giving me serious horror vibes, Tsukasa…
: Is it just me, or is it too quiet? Usually, you can hear distant growls or something.
Kijin prowled forward, his gaze sharp, while Raijuu's fur bristled, tiny sparks crackling along his coat in response to the tension in the air. The strange, rhythmic pulse echoed through the floor—a low thrum that matched my heartbeat.
"You're right," I said, keeping my voice steady. "There's something… oppressive about this place. The walls, the air, even the ground. It all feels like it's watching us."
: Dude, I swear I just saw something moving in the shadows behind you!
: Raijuu and Kijin look super tense… something's off.
: Anyone else hearing that weird heartbeat sound? So creepy!
I adjusted the angle, letting the viewers see the massive chamber we'd entered. At its center stood a single, black crystal resting on a pedestal, the surface glossy and dark, reflecting the faint light from the walls. Strange symbols covered the walls, pulsing in rhythm with the crystal's energy, like veins feeding some unknown force.
"Check this out, chat," I murmured, zooming in on the crystal and the carvings. "Looks like a core, but… it's giving off a different energy. Almost like it has a mind of its own."
: That crystal looks like bad news…
: Anyone else getting major horror vibes here?
: Careful, Tsukasa! You don't know what that thing is capable of.
The closer I got, the stronger the pulse became, each beat resonating through my entire body. As I reached out, almost touching the crystal, I felt a sudden rush of icy energy surge through me. My vision blurred, filled with flickering images—dark shapes, ancient symbols, places I didn't recognize. And then a whisper drifted through my mind, clear and cold.
"You are not meant to be here…"
I pulled back, stumbling slightly as the images faded. My heart pounded, and I glanced back at Kijin and Raijuu, both of whom were watching the crystal with wary eyes. Chat had gone wild.
: What was that?! Did anyone else hear it?
: Something's not right. That crystal is dangerous, Tsukasa.
: That voice… felt like it was speaking to me too. Creepy af.
I shook my head, trying to regain my focus. "It's fine, everyone. Just… unexpected. Let's move forward and see what else this place has hidden."
We advanced through the chamber, only to hear a low rumble from behind us. I turned just in time to see a massive, shadowy figure rising from the floor—a serpent-like creature, its body twisting and coiling, its cold, glowing eyes fixed directly on me. The chat went silent for a heartbeat, then exploded.
: OMG, WHAT IS THAT THING?!
: Is this even a dungeon monster? It looks… wrong.
: Tsukasa, stay back! That thing looks like a nightmare!
The creature stared at me, an unsettling intelligence behind its eyes. This wasn't just a mindless monster. It was something else. Something aware.
"All right, team," I muttered to Kijin and Raijuu. "Let's see what we're dealing with here."
Raijuu sprang forward, his body sparking with electricity as he launched a bolt of lightning straight at the creature's head. Chat went wild, cheering him on as the bolt connected—but instead of recoiling, the creature absorbed the energy, its scales glowing with a strange, dark light.
: No way… it absorbed the attack?!
: Raijuu's lightning doesn't work on it? How is that possible?
Kijin darted in next, striking with shadow-infused attacks aimed at its exposed underbelly. But the creature twisted with uncanny agility, evading each strike and countering with a swipe of its tail that forced Kijin back. My jaw tightened.
"Looks like we're not dealing with a typical monster here," I muttered.
: This thing's adapting! Every attack just makes it stronger…
: How can it dodge Kijin like that? It's almost like it knows their moves.
I signaled for Kijin and Raijuu to regroup, feeling the weight of the creature's gaze as it watched us, as if calculating its next move. I rarely intervened directly in battles, but this creature was pushing us to the limit.
"All right, chat," I said, a note of resolve creeping into my voice. "This is one of those rare times you're gonna see me step in."
The chat lit up in excitement.
: YES! Tsukasa going all-out! This is what we came to see!
: Show us what an EX-rank can really do!
: Take this thing down!
I took a step forward, signaling to Raijuu and Kijin to create a diversion. Raijuu launched another burst of lightning, aiming high, while Kijin slipped through the shadows, hitting the creature's weak points. The creature twisted, hissing, but this time, I was ready. As Raijuu's lightning struck, I moved in, driving my blade into its core.
The creature shuddered, its body flickering and distorting, until it dissolved into dark mist, vanishing without a trace. I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding, and the chat erupted in celebration.
: THAT WAS EPIC!! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
: Forbidden Floors don't mess around. That thing was unreal.
: Tsukasa, Kijin, and Raijuu: unstoppable trio! Let's go!
I grinned, giving the viewers a nod. "Thanks, everyone. That was… a lot. But we're good now."
But before I could take a step back, the crystal on the pedestal began pulsing with renewed intensity, filling the chamber with a dark, vibrating energy. The whispering returned, filling my mind with fragments of images, glimpses of a world that felt distant yet familiar. And then, a voice, cold and calm, spoke directly into my mind.
"The seal is weakening…"
The voice was clearer this time, an unsettling clarity that sent a shiver through me. I could feel it probing, like it was reaching into the edges of my mind, searching for something.
"Did… did anyone else hear that?" I asked, glancing back at the chat.
: Heard what? Are you okay, Tsukasa?
: What do you mean? We didn't hear anything.
"Release… me."
The words echoed in my thoughts, filling the silence of the chamber. I stumbled back, feeling a chill run down my spine, the weight of those words pressing down on me.
"What… what are you?" I whispered, half to myself.
The chat continued to flow, messages of worry and confusion scrolling by.
: Tsukasa, don't do it. Whatever that thing is… it sounds dangerous.
: Release me? Is there something trapped down there?
: This is giving me major bad vibes. Be careful!
Kijin and Raijuu moved closer, sensing my unease. They looked ready for anything, but even they seemed wary of the crystal and the strange energy emanating from it. I took a deep breath, forcing myself to stay calm.
"Don't worry, chat," I said, trying to sound confident. "I'm not planning on releasing anything. We're just… here to figure out what's going on."
The crystal's pulse began to fade, its energy diminishing, leaving the chamber silent once more. Whatever had spoken, whatever ancient presence lurked within these floors, it was aware of me—and I had the sense that this was only the beginning.
Chapter Read:
With one last look at the crystal, I turned back to the passage, signaling for Kijin and Raijuu to follow. "Let's keep moving. There's more to discover down here."
As we disappeared into the next corridor, the chat filled with a mixture of excitement and concern.
: Forbidden Floors are legit terrifying. But this is the best stream ever.
: Just stay safe, Tsukasa. We're with you.
: I can't believe this is happening live… This is going to be legendary.
The path twisted and turned, the shadows growing deeper, more oppressive with every step. Whatever secrets lay hidden in the Forbidden Floors, I had a feeling we were only scratching the surface. But with my Shikigami by my side and the support of everyone watching, I was ready to face whatever waited in the darkness.
