Chapter 1183: Another trade deal
Chapter 1183: Another trade deal
The Merman King was surprised to hear this, but he knew what I was talking about.
He knew that I wasn't referring to the trade deal between the Merman Empire and the sea witches. He knew that I was referring to the trade deal between my human kingdom and the Merman Empire.
But it didn't seem like the Merman King understood what the relationship between this and the trade deal with the sea witches was.
I could see what he was thinking, so I pulled out something and put it on the table.
When I did, the eyes of Puffer and Zyra on the side immediately lit up.
This was the same as when I brought out that thing that I used to pay Zyra for helping Ariel break the contract.
This material wasn't one that could be obtained from under the water.
This material was something that could only be obtained from land.
That was why this material was considered rare in this underwater world.
But at the same time, it was something that the sea witches needed for their experiments.
The Merman King could see the way that Zyra and Puffer reacted to this, but he didn't seem to understand what this had to do with the topic at hand. He understood that this material was considered rare, but it was just the beginning of the trade with the sea witches.
It didn't seem like there was a place for this.
I could guess what he was thinking, so I said, "We also have a need for the potions from the sea witches above the sea. I think that the materials that we have are more than enough to cover for this since they are considered rare for the sea witches."
The Merman King just gave a simple nod before saying, "So?"
He could see all of this for himself, but he didn't see how this mattered to him at all.
After all, there was nothing for the Merman Empire to gain from this.
If there was nothing for the Merman Empire to gain from this, there was no reason for them to get involved in this matter.
The Merman King clearly knew that for this trade deal to even happen, the Merman Empire would have to be the ones that transported the goods between the human kingdom and the sea witches.
While there might be something to gain from that, it just wasn't enough for them to go to all that effort.
That was why he asked this question.
He was sure that Zwein wouldn't just leave matters like this, he was sure that he would have another idea.
As expected by the Merman King, I said, "The benefits from transporting the goods would be yours to decide. Since these are ingredients in the first place, this could be considered a high value trade, so the dividends from them wouldn't be low. If you decide how much you get, then it would be more than enough to satisfy you."
The Merman King gave a simple nod in response, but then he said in a calm and sharp voice, "But it seems like you're forgetting something."
I didn't react when he said this since I could already guess what he was about to say.
"The Merman Empire can also trade for goods with the Tide Empire if we need to. If there's anything that the sea witches need, then we can just get them from the Tide Empire for a much cheaper price."Nôv(el)B\\jnn
I nodded in agreement to this before saying, "But do you want the Tide Empire finding out about the sea witches this soon? While they might figure it out eventually, it's best if they didn't know during this time."
The Merman King narrowed his eyes to look at me before asking, "Is that a threat?"
I shook my head before saying in a calm voice, "There's no threat, it's just stating a fact." The Merman King didn't say anything back to me as he continued looking at me with these narrowed eyes.
With the way that he looked at me, it was as if he wanted to put pressure on me.
But I just ate this pressure for breakfast as I looked right at him with a calm look on my face.
When his brows relaxed slightly, I said, "Not to mention, you would have to lower your price with the Tide Empire since you'd want to keep them in the dark. Instead of decreasing the value of this trade, why not reap the benefits?"
The Merman King remained silent for a bit before a smile suddenly appeared on his face and he said, "You've already thought of everything, haven't you?"
I also revealed a smile, but I didn't say anything.
The smile disappeared from his face and he revealed another serious look before saying, "Other than that, there's something else that I want."
I gave a nod as I had already expected this.
"The lubricant, we'll need a larger supply since we'll have to share with the sea witches in the future. I want you to guarantee that there will be more supply soon." He said in a serious voice, but hearing what he said made me feel awkward.
In the end, I said with a nod, "I'll work with Haley to increase the production lines. We should be able to satisfy your needs."
It's been a long time since I've built the facilities to create these things.
The only factory that I made was in my former territory and I thought that this was enough, but now it seemed like it wasn't enough. The only reason that I didn't expand before was because it wasn't necessary.
Expanding too much would reveal secrets that I didn't want revealed.
But now it seemed like I had no choice.
Since the waves of the future weren't waiting for me, I would master them instead of being swept away by them.
Since there was more lube that would be needed, I would just build another factory in the capital of the Kite Kingdom.
There was no doubt that it would be much easier once that happened.
