Chapter 1671: Plan

Chapter 1671: Plan

Ning was simply flabbergasted at Shara's new powers. Her Ice Powers before were great, but this was so much better. So much more practical for someone who didn't want to get hurt.

She could dodge every attack that came her way, every person, without even moving a bit. What surprised Ning the most was the fact that she could do so while taking other people with her too.

"Do you wanna use the bathroom? There's one behind the house next door. I used it early in the morning. They might not be using it. Let me check," Shara said and walked to the back of the room, slowly peaking her head through the wall, and looking behind.

"Nope, no one. You can go now."

Ning didn't know what to say. He would have to think while he used the bathroom as he definitely wanted to go.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Shara sent him out of the wall and waited for a while before he came back.

"How are you not falling off?" Ning asked.

Shara gave a confused look. "What do you mean?" she asked.

Ning pointed to the ground. "Like right through the ground. How can you move through objects and not fall right underground?" he asked.

Shara shrugged. "I didn't think that was even possible. Hmm, I wonder why?"

"And you can see while you are phasing through?" he asked.

"Phasing?" she asked.

"When you're passing through objects," Ning explained.

"Oh, yes. I can see. Why wouldn't I be able to see?" she asked.

"Because the photons should literally pass right through your eyes, making you blind if you can phase through stuff," Ning said.

"Photons? Why are you using made-up words?" Shara asked.

Ning ignored her. "No, if photons passed right through you, they would also pass right through your body. You would be invisible while you used your powers, which you aren't. Hmm? Weird rules, I guess."

"Why are you thinking so much about my powers? Isn't it enough that I can use it? It's helpful, right?" she asked.

"The first step to learning how good your power is is to learn its limits. What can you not pass through? What if you stop using your powers while you pass through something? That sort of thing. This power isn't as simple as just creating ice. This will take a lot of training to master."

Shara nodded. "Okay, but first, you need to eat." She handed him a freshly baked bread that she had brought from somewhere.

Ning gave a helpless smile. "You need to stop stealing as well," he said.

"I did not steal this," she said. "I bought this proper, with my money. I am not so crude to continuously steal when I could be so easily caught in daylight."

Ning chuckled. "No one saw you come in, right?" he asked.

"I walked in through the alleyway, so most likely not," she said.

Ning nodded. "We will need to leave this place soon," he said. "That woman that came after the Earl, she will most likely hire an Overtaker to look for you."

"An Overtaker..." Shara said softly. "If I could see the Spirits, I could so easily destroy them. Since I can't..."

"Don't beat yourself up because of it," Ning said as he chewed on the piece of bread. "You can't choose how you were born, just like you can't choose what your next power will be. We can only make the best of what we have. Regretting over that which we do not have is nothing more than a grand waste of time."

Shara nodded and smiled. "You're right. I'll focus on the positive."

Ning nodded. "Anyway, we need to decide what to do next. If you wish to continue moving toward the Empire, I will help you. You deserve to know why they are trying to kill you. But, if you will accept my advice, I will suggest that we do not go to the Empire. Instead, we should head toward Lenes immediately, and then go to the Golden Republic."

"For as long as you are within their lands, they will continue sending people after you. It isn't until you leave it that they will stop."

Shara took a moment for herself to think. She took in Ning's words, analyzing the benefits and deficits of both of those approaches.

There was merit in going to the empire, but the road was filled with danger that she was not ready to face just yet. At least not as a 15-year-old girl.

She needed time to grow. Time to improve. She just needed more time.

"My parents died in the mountains of Lenes," she said suddenly. "It was an accident, they said. But now... I'm wondering if it really was an accident. What if, just like me, they came for my father too? What if... they murdered him?"

Ning stopped chewing and looked toward her, seeing her eyes fill with tears at those words. "Do you wish to learn if it was an accident or not?" he asked.

"We will know when we go to Lenes, right?" she asked.

Ning nodded. "I can't guarantee, but it will be a place to start," he said.

"Then yes. I will accept your suggestion. We can head on over to Lenes. We can leave when you are healed," she said.

Ning shrugged. "I'm almost completely healed," he said. "We can leave at any time. Maybe

even just this evening."

"There will be people around," Shara said.

"Let me deal with that," Ning said.

Shara looked at him and then at the spear. Without his arm, Ning wasn't as strong as he was previously.

"Could you... teach me how to fight with the spear?" she asked.

Ning looked at her for a moment, surprised. Then, a wide smile formed on his face. "So you want to learn how to fight with a spear huh?" he asked.

Shara nodded.

Very well," Ning said. "I can teach you. But let me warn you this beforehand. I can be a terrible

teacher."
