The next morning, after a full rest, everyone started getting the store ready, but they were interrupted by a sudden burst of noise that caught everyone’s attention.

Mao Qiqi clattered down from upstairs and shouted, “Zombies have appeared in the villa district!”

How could zombies appear in the villa district?

“I’ll go check it out.”

Lu Hao said and got ready to leave.

So, the curious group marched out the door to the place Mao Qiqi had mentioned.

After arriving at the villa district, Xia Mufei and Xia Ying were allocated by the staff to a small building that already housed a few people, but those who had moved in earlier didn’t seem very friendly.

“What’s the deal, Jia Sheng? Didn’t your uncle say he’d get us a detached house? Why are there other people here?”

The girl with shoulder-length hair said this in front of Xia Mufei and Xia Ying.

Before the Apocalypse, Jia Kaiji always doted on his nephew, giving whatever good things he had first to his brother’s family. Now that his brother and sister-in-law were gone, he was even more inclined to meet any request Jia Sheng made.

They had also moved here under the guise of participating in the base construction, after all. Anyway, his uncle had said once they arrived, he would find a way to remove their names from the list.

“But what to do? The rooms on the third floor have already been taken by my men. You can either live in the attic on the rooftop or take the basement, pick one,”

“We’ll live in the attic on the rooftop,” the man behind Xia Mufei said.

Xia Mufei looked at Xia Ying with surprise. He thought Xia Ying was going to fight with these people because he clearly sensed that Xia Ying was very angry. So, he still worried about facing a Special Ability User, didn’t he?

Downstairs, two people were still arguing with conviction. Xia Ying, with an expressionless face, pulled Xia Mufei along to the attic of the rooftop.

“From the bag,” Xia Ying answered.

Alright then, let’s pretend he didn’t ask. It just didn’t feel right to eat someone else’s food without contributing anything, Xia Mufei thought.

“If you don’t eat it, throw it away. I never take back what I have given away,” Xia Ying’s voice came from outside.

Well, it would be such a waste to throw it away. He might as well eat it. Sausages of this size were used for cooking before the Apocalypse, after all.

Grateful, Xia Mufei tore open the sausage packaging and began to eat. The smell of porridge from downstairs no longer interested him; the sausage was too delicious. He decided then and there that, as a Special Ability User, he must protect Xia Ying.
