Chapter 100 - 100 The Family's Decision
Chapter 100: Chapter 100 The Family’s Decision
“Xiao Jin, should we give it a try?” Su Xiangzhe said.
A thousand people, not just ten or a hundred. As a veteran, he really couldn’t ensure everyone would get out unscathed.
“Su Jin, stop hesitating and just do it!”
Lin Xiuyuan’s voice came through the walkie-talkie, and in the car, Nie Qing, Lu Guanhai, Lin Cheng, and Huang Yunxiang all agreed.
“Sis, we all agree, you don’t need to worry too much,” Liao Yifan’s voice also followed.
“Xiao Jin, don’t worry, I won’t let anyone get hurt.”
Lu Hao placed his hand on Su Jin’s shoulder. He knew the weight of the decision he was making. He had been a police officer and could not just stand by, so he would share the burden with her.
“Fine, but there’s one condition,” Su Jin said.
“What’s the condition?”
“You say it, sis.”
“No one is allowed to get hurt, or else there will be no forgiveness!”
Su Jin spoke decisively. She wanted to save people, but not at the expense of her family and teammates!
“Understood!”
Yin Chengtian was the first to shout out because he thought that this tone and these words were so much like Captain Lu—truly worthy of being called ‘sis’.
Xing Taining watched in surprise as a group of people got out of three cars. What could he say? Their presence, their demeanor, it was quite shocking.
“You…”
He saw the little girl who had just asked him why he wasn’t fighting the zombies pull out a megaphone from somewhere and walk over to him.
“There aren’t many zombies in the horde, just a few hundred. We can totally fight,” Su Jin said.
“Yes, sir, we all have experience killing zombies,” Su Xiangzhe also persuaded.
“I can kill zombies too,” Mao Qiqi added as she came over.
Everyone was persuading him, seemingly very confident.
“You folks really are…”
Xing Taining couldn’t help but laugh.
If that’s the case, I might as well join these noble folks. After all, he had already risked his life.
And the so-called safe refuge was actually a gymnasium, which was spacious enough to accommodate many survivors.
Although it already housed about a thousand survivors, the gymnasium was eerily quiet.
Looking around, despair and sorrow filled the eyes of these survivors. They all sat quietly, very silent.
Some had cried their tears dry, their swollen red eyes blankly staring at the people walking through the door.
The light outside the door was bright, and those walking in seemed to be draped in light because they were backlit.
It was like… hope itself…
Who were they?
Why did they seem not at all disheveled?
Why didn’t their eyes show despair?
They followed Xing Taining to the front of the gymnasium, onto the podium.
Xing Taining took the megaphone handed to him by Su Jin and explained the current situation. In less than an hour, a horde of zombies would reach their location, and they only had two cars, not enough to take everyone.
After Xing Taining finished speaking, he looked at the reaction of the crowd below. Just as he expected, there were no signs of anger or complaints, only quiet acceptance.
They no longer wanted to live.
One hour left, huh?
But there wasn’t even anyone to say goodbye to.
“All of you, listen up!”
A pleasant and powerful female voice came through the megaphone.
It was her!
What was she going to say from within that group?
“The horde only has four to five hundred zombies, yet there are a thousand of us here!”
“All of you present are humanity’s last hope! Are you really willing to just sit here and wait for death?!”
