Chapter 394: 394
Chapter 394: 394
Leon, dragging Lucien by the collar, arrived at the imposing white wall that marked the boundary of the Inner City. The walls loomed taller and pristine, its surface unmarred by the grime of the Outer City.
Unlike the Outer City, which was rife with chaos and rough elements, this area was heavily guarded. Rows of stern-faced soldiers stood watch, their armor gleaming under the city lights, their presence a constant reminder of the Inner City's importance and security.
Leon approached the checkpoint, where a soldier, recognizing him immediately, gave a curt nod.
In fact, the soldiers immediately identified Leon seeing his face.
'This feels great...I just rioted once and this happened. Should I riot often...'
The soldier's familiarity with Leon's face allowed him to pass without further scrutiny. Lucien, still grumbling, was dropped unceremoniously near the checkpoint, out of the way but within sight.
"Stay put and behave yourself," Leon snapped, glaring at Lucien. "I'll be back soon."
With Lucien safely thrown back, Leon moved towards the entrance of the Inner City. The transition from the Outer City was in stark contrasting, the hustle and bustle of the Outer City faded into a more serene and controlled environment. The streets were neatly paved, and the buildings, grand and elegant, stood as symbols of the city's wealth and order.
Leon entered a grand building, which served as a central communications hub for the Inner City. Inside, the ambiance was calm and orderly.
Leon made his way to a private chamber where secure communications were held. He sat down at a terminal, accessed a secure line, and sent a message to his mother.
The soldiers assisted him and led him the way. He was done with a few moments. He didn't call because who knew if they were in the middle of battle?
Knowing his mother, he was sure that should dump down the battle and look for him.
"Inform me, if you get a notification.
"Yes Sir!"
The man saluted with a fierce expression.
Giving a nod, Leon walked out but just as he stepped out, a figure screamed his name and raised his hand to wrap around his neck
"Hey, pal how is it going?"
SWOOSH!
Before the hand could touch Leon, he disappeared and stared at the figure suspiciously.
"Who the hell are you?"Leon asked, seeing the figure with pointed ears and then at the man who had black hair. He was human.
"What! How can you forget me...It's me the Great Ael whom you thras....Ahem.I meant whom you had a great battle."Ael spoke scratching his cheek.
"If you remember that very well why the fuck are behaving so friendly out of nowhere?"Leon screamed.
Of course, he remembered it after he beat this guy to a bloody pulp.
Ignoring him, Leon looked at the black-haired protagonist.
"Hello, I am Morbius. It is nice to meet you."Morbius politely extended his hands.
Leon took his hand, and returned a smile, "It's Leon, and nice to meet you Morbius.."
In the end, Leon's expression shook a little.
Who the hell named this person Morbius? It would be one thing if it's a title or name to use as
a cover-up.
But taking Morbius...
The guy wasn't ugly rather he was handsome so what's up with that name.
"What about me? You still didn't greet me, dear friend."
Giving the jumping Ael a serious look, Leon cast a suspicious gaze.
"Listen, pal. If a person gets beaten to dust by a person and still tries to act friendly then there are two scenarios.."
"What is that?"Ael asked, crunching his brows.
"It's either that guy is having sinister thoughts or..."
"Or!"Both Ael and Morbius spoke at the same time.
"Or that guy is a masochist."
PFTTTT!
Morbius laughed aloud upon hearing this but stopped getting Ael's chilling gaze.
"I am not a masochist. As a proud and noble Elf, we don't do such shameful things."Ael
shouted his chin as if showing the great man was the noblest.
"Despite calling yourself noblest you still lower yourself to go after girls that have been taken or do you have a cuckold fetish?"Leon snorted, making Ael choke.
"Hahaha!"Morbius laughed again. He just loved the way Leon countered.
Ael's eyes widened in shock, and he stumbled backward, his face a picture of mortification. He coughed and spluttered, his noble facade cracking as he tried to regain his composure.
Leon's gaze shifted back to Morbius, who was still chuckling softly. "Alright, enough with the pleasantries. What exactly are you two doing here?"
Morbius straightened his demeanor, and became serious. "A secret realm has been opened, and top academy students like ourselves have been invited to participate. The goal is to
explore the realm and see if we can uncover anything of value."
Ael, who was still recovering from his earlier embarrassment, nodded vigorously. "And since I was here, I insisted Morbius come along. I thought it would be... an interesting experience." Leon raised an eyebrow. "So, you're telling me you're here just because of this secret realm?" "Precisely," Morbius confirmed, his tone steady. "We arrived recently and were heading to the cafeteria when we overheard people talking about you."
Leon frowned slightly.
"Did my arrival get announced or something?" he wondered inwardly, feeling a twinge of
unease.
Morbius continued, "I'm sure many others from different sectors will be arriving soon. The secret realm seems to be quite the buzz."
Leon glanced back at Morbius and Ael, a resolute expression on his face. "See you around," he said, then turned and began to walk away.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
To his surprise, he noticed that both Morbius and Ael were following him. He stopped and turned, irritation flashing across his features. "What's going on? Why are you two still trailing
me?"
Ael, looking somewhat hesitant but determined, stepped forward. "We were wondering if you'd consider teaming up with us. It could be beneficial to have someone with your skills in the secret realm."
Leon raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued but his mind still cautious. "I'll think about it."
With that, he turned on his heel and walked out, attempting to ignore the two still following him. The feeling of being shadowed made him slightly uneasy, but he pushed it aside as he
exited the building.
Just as Leon stepped outside, he was met with an unexpected sight. His eyes widened, and he couldn't help but let out a stunned, "What the hell?!"
Before him, the scene was chaotic. People were gathering, their voices creating a cacophony of sound. A large number of individuals were murmuring something about, clearly drawn by the scene occurring before them.
