Chapter 233 - Frustration
Instead of telling the eight students, who were older than him by a few months, what they should do, he wanted them to become more confident in their own choice.
They had chosen those occupations willingly and worked hard to create a great plan.
Now they should learn how to value themselves and stand up against those saying that their occupations are trash.
It was already uncommon to encounter someone like Shane who almost fed them with answers, but Maya, Dyr, and Han were still a bit reluctant and didn't even dare to look into Shane's eyes after he lectured them.
"How do I fix that?" He thought, not realising that he had said it out loud while scratching the back of his head.
The small Artisan group, as Shane called them, was already thankful to him for accepting them for their choice.
Furthermore, they felt even better after he gave them the option to prove their worth, only that Maya, Dyr, and Han were left behind.
Shane didn't tell them what they should do and they were at most doing some support work to help the others who utilized their skills to create a large Nightshade flower field within a few hours.
This was a great feat and Shane knew that the Nightshade flowers would only need one month to blossom. He could also tell that the Hidden Paradise's mana absorption showed its true value right now.
After he enlarged his world to 400 meters in diameter in addition to planting more than 1,300 Nightshade flower roots, the demand for mana increased manifolds.
However, his mana absorption was still several times higher than the combined mana requirement of the flowers and the Hidden Paradise.
To put it simply, this was perfect because Shane could store mana to enlarge the world within him after some time while increasing the Nightshade flower field's size.
The only concern was that he didn't have enough gold coins to pay everyone, which he would have to solve in a different way than telling the Artisan group that he wouldn't pay them what he promised!
This would be a shame and a disgrace and Shane didn't want to lower their confidence by paying them less either!
Furthermore, Shane knew of a way to increase his funds, other than using the agri group.
If the remaining four, other than the ones responsible for the Nightshade flower field had different occupations, he would think differently, but they had a perfect set-up to create huge mountains of gold coins.
But instead of using their skills to reap benefits, they were bullied, beaten up and they had consequently lost their self-confidence, turning them into pushovers.
Only Dyr and Han seemed to have sturdy bodies which they had most likely obtained due to their occupation and the fact that they did hard and manual labor work without using their skills too.
The others looked sickly, like pushovers, and nothing else. It caused Shane to ruffle through his hair when he noticed that everyone was looking at him, not knowing what he wanted them to do.
"GUYS! What is wrong with you...Dyr, don't tell me you neither received a blueprint about any kind of weapon from your WEAPON specialized craftsman occupation nor did you purchase one? Did you manufacture weapons without learning how to do it by playing with legos?
Han...please tell me that your PLATINUM quality occupation gave you a blueprint? At least, tell me that you received a blueprint of how to create reinforced cement...at least the [Mortal (Bronze)] blueprint...pleasee!!!"
Shane became frustrated looking at the 8 students who were all standing in front of him, looking down as if their teacher had figured out that they were cheating.
'They're so talented and knowledgeable, but even denser than I'm sometimes….'
Taking a deep breath he said
"Let's sit down...this will take a while…"
He knew that losing his temper would be bad. Instead, he had to build everyone's confidence up which would take a short while.
As such, he started to talk about the positive traits of the [Farmer], [Florist], and [Plant researcher] occupation which he had noticed during the last few hours. Additionally, he stated that the combination of occupations they had fit perfectly because they were supporting each other very well.
This took Shane more than an hour and it was only now that he looked up to see how the twins, Louis and Elyon were crying.
'I didn't curse at them,....right?'
What he didn't expect was to see happy tears glistening in the eyes of the four students in front of him.
It was for the first time for them to hear that they were good or even excellent at what they were doing. They felt validated to be given the reassurance that they did nothing wrong.
So far, everyone had told them that they were stupid, that their dreams were made of thin air, that everything they were doing would crumble once time passed.
However, Shane was the only one to tell them the complete opposite. He rescued them from being bullied, helped them, and was now even telling them that they hadn't wasted their life so far!
He even said that they were worth more than most humans because of their hard work.
As long as they followed their dreams with all their might without caring about how others perceive and value them, they could achieve everything.
That was what Shane said and it hit them so hard that they were unable to stop tears from shedding their eyes.
Even Talia and the other three whom he didn't tell about the things they can accomplish with their occupations cried!
Seeing this, Shane couldn't help but become frustrated as he cursed in his mind while trying to maintain his calm.
'Giving them their self-confidence back will be harder than earning several million gold coins… They're talented and smart but at the same time extremely dense and devoid of any self-worth...Looking at how they're acting, I think they would have accepted 100 gold coins a month as salary, while I would have kept the remaining profits...Right now, it might be an exaggeration to say that they've hit rock bottom...maybe their confidence has dipped a little?'
Suddenly, Shane stood up as he began to explain swiftly that he would enter a dangerous dimension soon in order to finish a mission. As such, the others would have to decide whether they wanted to stay inside the Hidden Paradise or not.
If they wanted something from him, they needed to inform him right away because he would focus on the mission later.
With that, he wanted to pressure the 8 students that couldn't even stop crying as they were looking at him in disbelief.
'Why don't you give us some time to digest everything??' This was most likely their thought but Shane was running short on time anyway, so he had no choice but to push them a little.
He was already frustrated and slightly disappointed about how torn the 8 students in front of him were but Shane still had a little bit of hope.
As such he was happy when Dyr suddenly said, wiping away the tears that were still pouring down his cheeks.
"I...I obtained the blueprint for a unique Ballista....the better the grade and quality of the materials used, the stronger the ballista….but..its limit is at [Tier-2 (Rare)]...and it doesn't have and can never obtain a special ability…"
When Dyr had finally spoken up Shane smiled, but instead of answering he turned to Han, waiting for something as he said
"I...have only a few useful Mortal grade blueprints...I don't… have any great higher graded blueprints...But I have a skill called [Assemble]. With this skill, I can put together items and they're glued together...but it uses up a great amount of mana...Other than that...I have a [Reinforcement] skill that allows me to make materials more durable. The mana consumption is not that high compared to the [Assemble] skill but it's still high…"
Maya was still hesitating but when Shane stared at her she said,
"I can design lots of building constructions and began studying shelters since I was a small child.... I'll work hard to meet the requirements for the [Platinum] quality architect occupation..and then I can help too!!"
Finally, Shane revealed a smile that he could hardly hold back as he told Maya.
"Don't stress yourself, work hard and nobody will ever abandon you. Just be more confident. If possible, show me some of the designs that you have already drafted. I'm quite interested in what you think of humanity's shelters within the basic dimensions...in my opinion, they would have to be completely remodeled…"
Maya's eyes twinkled because she was of the same opinion and Talia who stood next to her ruffled her hair,
"See, I told you that he won't say that your occupation is trash!"
Averting his attention to Dyr and Han he asked,
"Those skills and that blueprint...what materials are required to construct it? If possible, you should create a few...and Han..please help Dyr! I think if you use the [Assemble] and [Reinforcement] skill while Dyr is using his weapon specialized skills to create the unique Bastilla, we should be able to create a weapon and kill or injure those beasts at the peak-Awakened stage that other bastillae's have problems with!
In one sense, this could be a good source of income if used properly!"
"But back to my question, will you stay inside the Hidden Paradise, if yes, I'll have to provide a few light sources because I will shut off the world from sunlight!"
Now, everyone was dumbfounded as Louis exclaimed
"That's possible?? Amazing!"
Smiling lightly, Shane couldn't help but feel that everything would become much more interesting than it already was.
