Pokémon Court

Chapter 387: Leaving again

The Gym assessment had come to a conclusion for the time being, and Terrance began preparing for the construction of his Gym.

With a suitable location secured, all that remained was to build the Gym itself. However, Terrance wasn’t particularly knowledgeable about which architectural style would be appropriate.

He looked into other Gyms for reference, and their architectural style was somewhat related to their Gym type. Perhaps this is a way to showcase the unique characteristics of a Gym.

Terrance quietly made notes to learn from the strengths of other Gyms.

As for the Badge design…

Artistic talent wasn’t something Terrance could claim to have, and even coming up with a name was a challenge for him. Thankfully, he could consult the others at the Old Green House. After much deliberation, they finally settled on a Badge design resembling Beautifly’s face, naming it the “Coordination Badge.”

Rather than naming it after a type like “Bug” or “Insect” Badge, they chose a name based on the core philosophy of the Gym’s assessment.

“Perfect!”

After finishing everything, Terrance felt as if relieved of a heavy burden and suddenly realized that training Pokémon seemed to be a kind of fun.

“Brother Terrance, are you planning to train Pokémon again?” Scarlet asked as he followed Terrance. Over this period, both him and Ayan had been learning battle fundamentals and basic Trainer skills under Terrance’s guidance.

“No…” Terrance shook his head. He had a new plan in mind.

“Ayan.”

“Yes?” Ayan was startled.

Terrance looked at Scarlet and Ayan, and to their surprise, he handed them five Poké Balls.

Scarlet received the Poké Balls containing “Little Beautifly,” “Vivillon,” and “Butterfree,” while Ayan was entrusted with “Beedrill” and “Dustox.”

“???” Both of them were baffled.

“Brother Terrance, are you leaving again?” Scarlet exclaimed in shock when he saw Terrance handing over the five Poké Balls containing Bug-Type Pokémon.

“Of course not. I’ve already build these five Pokémon’s foundation, planned out their training directions in coordination, and arranged for Taiga to handle their food supplies. They’ll be able to train on their own for a while.”

“Next, I’ll retrieve the rest of the Pokémon. For the time being, you two will take care of them. Ayan, including your Machop, I want you and Scarlet to conduct at least five 3v3 coordination battles every day. That’s your training assignment.”

The two exchanged glances, realizing that Terrance was testing what they had learned during this time.

“No problem!” Scarlet said excitedly, gripping the three Poké Balls in his hand. Since he didn’t yet have his own Pokémon, the chance to experience battles first hand would undoubtedly be a lot of fun.

“I understand,” Ayan said earnestly, nodding. He knew Terrance was busy working hard for their sake. As long as they could get through this period, even if it was a bit harder now, once the Gym was completely on track, it would be of great help to everyone here.

They were still young.

If you don’t put in effort while you’re young, wouldn’t you end up in regret when you’re older?

Terrance looked at them with satisfaction and said with a smile, “But don’t push yourselves too hard. I might be back sooner than you think.”

“Brother Terrance, about the Gym’s construction….” Scarlet asked.

“Don’t worry, I’ve already contacted them. After the official work starts, I’ve also found a temporary place for us to stay.”

“Where?”

Feigning mystery, Terrance pointed in a direction, drawing surprised looks from the two.

“The Pokémon Contest Hall?!”

As the two exclaimed in unison, Terrance nodded. “There’s still a long time before the Pokémon Contest can officially be held. Although the venue hasn’t undergone detailed renovations yet, it shouldn’t be a problem for us to stay there.”

“This was Raoul Contesta’s idea. Oh, and remember to have Grandma Arlan stay in the east-side room of the hall—that area is warmer…”

Uh…

Terrance suddenly realized he might be overloading them with instructions. After all, he wasn’t planning to be gone for very long, so there was no need to go into such detail.

“In any case, if I can’t return earlier than expected, we’ll stay in touch,” he concluded.

Scarlet and Ayan could only nod helplessly.

“I’ll go look for Rina.”

Look for Rina?

The two exchanged sympathetic looks, as if they could already imagine Rina being scolded by Terrance.

Scarlet wants to take over the Old Green House, wanting to help Grandma Arlan continue to develop the Old Green House in the future and help more people. The establishment of the Gym and its merger with Old Green House is a very good opportunity for him.

Through the experience provided by the Gym, Scarlet believed he could become an excellent Trainer, bringing him one step closer to his dream.

Ayan, on the other hand, had admired Terrance since childhood. As he grew older, he understood that everything Terrance did was for the sake of everyone at Old Green House. In particular, Terrance helped him obtain his Machop, deepening Ayan’s determination to assist Terrance unconditionally. He wanted to contribute to anything that benefited Terrance—and, by extension, everyone at the Old Green House.

The sentiments of the two were perfectly aligned with the original intention of establishing the Gym, allowing Terrance to divert some of his attention to other matters while setting up the Gym.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

“Rina!”

Terrance pushed the door open and was immediately met with the sight of the little kid glued to the TV, watching cartoons. His anger flared up instantly. Although he knew it was just a child’s nature… even Myu knew to imitate a few things from those cheesy romance dramas and work hard for her dreams. Why couldn’t she grow up a little?

“Villain, accept your punishment!” Rina declared fiercely, reciting the lines from the cartoon.

Terrance’s face turned dark as he interrupted the immersed Rina. “Hey!”

“Huh? Brother Terrance?” Rina turned around and asked curiously, “What’s up?”

“You’re almost ten, right? Are you still planning to become a police officer?” Terrance went straight to the point and asked.

He had thought about this for a long time and ultimately decided to ask Rina directly again. Her dream of becoming a police officer probably came from watching cartoons when she was little… but was it realistic at all?

“Of course!” Rina’s eyes sparkled with excitement.

“Well, if that’s the case, I’ll help you contact a junior police academy later. Whether or not you can stick with it will depend on your own effort,” Terrance said, clearly exasperated.

Even for Taiga, Terrance wasn’t this pessimistic. Although Taiga was a glutton, during the time Terrance was away, he had learned to cook. Even if it was just very simple dishes, it was still progress. Moreover, Taiga had also helped take care of the orchard, and now, he has even begun learning about Pokémon food and other “food” related knowledge from Terrance.

Now it seemed like… Rina was the only unreliable one left?!

As for Taiga, his dream of tasting delicacies from around the world – you could call it a dream or a personal wish – is a longing born from a foodie’s heart. This seems to be the most achievable dream among everyone at the Old Green House right now.

Terrance is keen to have Taiga start with Pokémon food and try out the Breeder profession. While teaching Taiga, Terrance unexpectedly discovered that Taiga has a knack for things related to food. Because of his own picky tastes, Taiga is also very good at catering to others’ tastes, a quality that Pokémon appreciate.
