Chapter 1348 Summit
Chapter 1348 Summit
At noon Japan time, various leaders of the world started virtually appearing one by one in a pure white space that lacked anything.
Soon enough, the leaders of the biggest factions like the Underworld and Heaven also started arriving, giving birth to the small talks between the different cliques that have developed over time.
Because the Alliance had already dissolved, it revealed various faction's true alignments which surprised no one.
The representative of the Underworld, Sirzechs, the representative of Heaven, Michael, and the representative of Grigori, Shemhazai, all stood together. Although the alliance was gone, their group still had a good relationship with each other. However, this in turn, made others think that they just took down Alliance in name and that their real goal was to cut out the smaller and weaker factions for their own stability, which, of course, didn't sit well with many.
Michael first invited Sirzechs and Shemhazai into a private voice call before he started talking with a smile on his face, "It would seem that we're hated quite a bit."
"I thought that they wouldn't reveal their fangs this much if we didn't compete in that Dungeon world." Shemhazai sighed. He could feel his head throbbing and it has been like this for the past few months, "I wish Azazel would take this position back."
"I doubt it." Sirzechs chuckled, also unperturbed by the surrounding hostility, "He and Ajuka are doing something secretive and with how much effort and resources they are pouring into it, those two won't be able to deal with anything else."
Shemhazai's ears perked up, "Yeah, about that. What are they doing? They are moving around massive amounts of resources but no one can figure out what they are up to. Some say they are preparing for the Shiva-Indra war, but I don't think that is."
Michael nodded in agreement, "I'm of the same opinion. If they really were preparing for the war, we'll at least be able to see where those resources ended up, however, no one can find them. I agree that they are capable people but I doubt they could just make those things disappear without a trace."
"What about the personnel they recruited?" Sirzechs asked.Shemhazai shook his head, "The peerage that Sona Sitri previously led including Genshiro Saji and the Slash Dog team, no one can find them. Just like those other resources, they seem to have disappeared from the face of this world."
Sirzechs and Michael were surprised. Both of them were extremely busy with their respective problems so they are not updated on what's happening on Azazel and Ajuka's side. In addition to their trust of those two, they ended up ignoring this very important information, "No trace at all?"
"None. I asked Azazel about it but he didn't give any concrete answer. He even asked the Grigori's intelligence department to trace and figure out what they were doing to see if they overlooked something on their side but we still found no answers. All I can say is that they are very secretive about it. Nevertheless, he reassured me that they are not performing dangerous experiments on the kids."
"Hmmm... It would seem that we neglected them." Michael commented while making a complicated expression.
Shemhazai could understand his feelings but still reassured him, "Please don't say that. Azazel also reiterated that they were only able to do what they were doing because we were keeping them free from interference."
"That's good to hear. I'm also rather embarrassed that I couldn't help them." Sirzechs let out a long breath, "But couldn't they just be hiding in some small world within the Dimensional Gap?"
"That's the most probable explanation, but I have a feeling that it isn't as simple as that. First of all, I couldn't think of any scenario where that would be advantageous unless they are preparing something dangerous, but my previous conversations with Azazel don't sound like they are doing anything even remotely close to that."
The new world that Kisuke discovered came into Michael's mind but he didn't say anything. In any case, it also doesn't make sense since that would only make it easier for others to discover it and unwanted attention would be gathered on them once again which would be exceedingly disadvantageous for them in the current political climate.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
But while they were deep in their discussion, the three noticed that everyone else's attention shifted to a certain corner and when they too turned in that direction, Sirzechs couldn't help but frown.
"What a way to announce that the Devil's side is fractured." Shemhazai remarked with a smile that didn't reach his eyes, "Were you expecting this?"
Sirzechs didn't answer immediately and stared at a middle-aged-looking man with black hair and peaceful violet eyes, wearing a nobleman's attire. He has an aura of strong dignity that exudes from him that doesn't just attract eyes toward him but also evokes fear in those surrounding him.
Zekram Bael, the very first Head of the House of Bael and is said to have greater influence than the current Four Devil Kings. He was the de-facto leader of the Devils after the death of the original Four Devil Kings but he mostly left the management side of things to the newly appointed Devil Kings.
While it's not strange for a power to have multiple representatives present, it's clear that Zekram is not here to support Sirzechs' position.
Throughout these years, Sirzechs and the other Devil Kings had tried wresting away authority from him but the most they could do was push him to the sidelines. Unfortunately, that failure has come back to bite them in a most dangerous way as his attendance has told everyone that he's not here to represent the Underworld Government like Sirzechs.
"He's been unsatisfied that the Three Biblical Factions are not taking a side despite its power to tip the scales to one side easily... But I didn't think he'd take a stand like this."
"That would mean he already gathered enough support and approval to oppose you." Michael muttered, "Do you have anything prepared to deal with this?"
"I do, but they were rendered useless the moment he appeared here. After this, he won't just have the Devils under him but also other factions behind him... And most probably, support either Shiva or Indra, making him virtually untouchable from where we stand."
"Shiva or Indra... Do you have any idea whose side he'll go to?" Shemhazai asked.
"His supporters are endorsing Shiva, but he never said anything regarding it."
Soon after Zekram's arrival, two more lights appeared, revealing the main actors of today's summit, Shiva and Indra causing the surroundings to go absolutely silent.
What do you think?
