Chapter 267 Monster Hunting Experience Points!
As one of the main resources of the Noble Sword House, the Namgung Family's Flood Dragon Pill was something deeply related to the path of their famous breathing of the 'Blue Dragon's Lake', containing energy deeply related to both water and lightning.
Naturally, other types of breathing techniques possess the ability to absorb any form of natural energy and convert it to their own regardless of its attribute. Still, the level of compatibility remained important when it came to absorption ratio.
'This one is a bit better as expected.'
Not to mention that both attributes had close relation to the 'Sky', the Internal Energy that had run through the channeling path of the Black Dragon's Transformations had a great affinity with lightning-type resources. As such, Leo's absorption of the pill was smoother than usual.
With two years of monster hunting experience under his belt, Leo had tasted quite a number of energy pills, but the Flood Dragon Pill was undoubtedly one of the better ones!
'This is worth quite a bit of experience points!'
As members of the Heavenly Strength Society that had deep pockets of its own, there was an obvious reason as to why Leo and his team bothered to register in the Monster Hunter Association, that answer was none other than variety!
While the pills provided by the Society were often the most effective, and their nature was the most compatible with Scarlet Sky Breathing, there was a limit to how many of them could be consumed at the same level of effectiveness! Leo had a direct experience with that after first consuming the Snow Blossom Pills…
It was understandable to just silently accumulate the decreasing effect in a normal situation, but why would they stand still with such a huge opportunity given by the emergence of the Monster Hunter Association? The true answer was to effectively make use of that bonus!
Although this world wasn't game-like to give experience points, while the monsters didn't even drop something like mana stones, the pseudo 'Adventurer Guild' made hunting trips cashable! The Monster Points that could be exchanged for resources to increase a Monster Hunter's strength was no different than experience points that allowed a player to level up!
Most importantly, unlike experience points whose value deteriorated as one got higher in level, the Monster Hunter Association possessed a cheat code that stabilized that value. Its core value was still variety!
The treasuries standing behind the Association's vault were many, so the list of exchangeable resources was always colorful. Not all pills had a special compatibility with Leo or the other three, but the Internal Energy they obtained from them surpassed the amount currently obtainable from the Scarlet Cloud Pill…
'It doesn't take much time to absorb it either.'
As a Peak Martial Artist, Leo's five days of wrestling energy out of the pill was something of the past. The path of a Martial Artist was to grow closer to the energy around and outside, one's energy control followed suit as they advanced further. Even without the assistance of someone like Cheon Jeong, a single night was satisfactory to absorb the content of both pills.
"It was worth getting into a fight for."
Ever since Leo and his team started their journey as Monster Hunters, he had always paid attention to the list to make sure they would get supplements of all tastes and colors. The only reason he chose the Flood Dragon Pill was that it was just added with limited storage. Obviously, he hadn't been intentionally targeting the Murim League.
In reality, while the Monster Hunting business sounded very beneficial for those who had confidence in their strength, it wasn't exactly that luxurious. After the large spread of cracks, not all monsters acted with one mind as most strayed away from their packs.
Unless it was an occupied settlement or a predicted attack, it was hard to obtain enough points to exchange for something useful following every single battle…
Even with martial arts solving the lack of advanced transportation methods, the lack of constant information feed made it hard for someone to directly pinpoint their target. In general, moving through the vast Murim infested with monsters was a tough job.
Starting from finding your target to running around to investigate them… all the way up until finally starting the extermination task, the process was quite lengthy. In order to obtain enough points for a full team exchange like their latest one, the First Demon Hunter would have to put in a month's effort at the very least!
Tak… tak…
"Give me a whole roasted chicken, please."
Once noon had come, Leo went down to get something to eat. Sitting on the counter, he could already see Yeon's figure on its way down. He planned to share the chicken while waiting for the other two to come down.
Although a murim-in Monster Hunter's job could be said to be anything but easy, Leo felt like he was smoothly pulling through. With the help of his experience at the Gigant Sword Association as well as his three unique team mates that filled up his day, it felt more like a picnic than a chore!
"Good morning~"
Three years felt like a lot, but Leo didn't feel like much time had passed since the Mount Hua Sword Conference's grand reversal. He had been simply focusing on honing his skills and growing stronger in preparation for the next major event to come.
"I would like a beef steak… and a fried fish for him."
Just as Leo's order came out, Cheon Sohee sat down with Cheon Yong following suit. At one point in their journey, they had bought a house in this city to act as a temporary base since they couldn't always go back and forth from Mount Heaven. Most of the time, however, they just chose a decent inn due to how convenient it was… It was only when Leo was in the mode to cook that they would occasionally go there.
"Ready to go?"
Their full plates were quickly reduced to bones. After washing his hands and face, Leo soon announced their departure. It was finally time to go back home.
