My Years as the Pure Love Interest at the Noble Academy

Chapter 98

Today was the first day of enrollment at the university.

The Shen family's car dropped off Song Yi and Shen Yujing together at Imperial Capital University.

After the car stopped, the driver got up to open the trunk and help with the luggage.

"Don't move, don't move. Go back to the car, I'll handle it myself," Shen Yujing dismissed him and instead took Song Yi's suitcase out himself.

With both his and Song Yi's suitcases in hand, Shen Yujing pushed them forward under the glaring sunlight. Song Yi stood beside him, holding an umbrella, as they walked side by side into the campus.

At the entrance, Shen Yujing glanced at the map provided to new students. The registration point for the Film Academy was relatively far.

As they passed a small convenience store, Song Yi tugged at Shen Yujing's wrist and said, "Wait, I want to buy a cola."

"Alright," Shen Yujing replied. "I'll go get it."

Song Yi shook her head. "No need, I can go in myself."

She then looked at Shen Yujing and added, "There are too many people here today. Don't wander off, just wait for me here."

Song Yi entered the store and picked up a cola for herself and an orange juice, Shen Yujing's favorite.

However, when she came out, Shen Yujing was nowhere to be seen. The spot where he had been standing was now surrounded by a crowd—men and women, all seemingly engaged in something.

"Song Yi! Song Yi!"

Just as Song Yi was trying to figure out what was happening, Shen Yujing's voice suddenly rang out.

He poked his head out from the crowd, his face filled with panic, and called out as if seeking help, "I'm here! Come over! Hurry!"

Song Yi: "…?"

Song Yi walked toward Shen Yujing, only to hear him desperately explaining to the people around him, "I told you I have a girlfriend! I'm not lying! I really do… Yes, of course, I like girls… What do you mean by that?"

As soon as Song Yi approached, Shen Yujing quickly grabbed her wrist and pulled her close, placing his hand on her shoulder. His face was full of irritation as he declared, "See? This is my girlfriend."

The people around them glanced at Shen Yujing, then at Song Yi, and quickly dispersed.

Song Yi looked at Shen Yujing with confusion. "What's going on?"

Shen Yujing rested his head on her shoulder and let out a long sigh. "I don't know. A bunch of people just surrounded me out of nowhere, asking for my WeChat. No matter what I said, they wouldn't leave."

Song Yi glanced at the retreating crowd and mused, "Men and women alike. Shen Yujing, your charm hasn't faded, huh?"

Shen Yujing wanted to retort but didn't know what to say. Instead, he sulked and reached for Song Yi's hand.

Song Yi asked, "Also, couldn't you just walk away when they approached you?"

Shen Yujing looked even more aggrieved. "You told me to wait here for you."

Song Yi: "…"

She handed the orange juice to Shen Yujing and said, "Alright, alright, let's go."

Shen Yujing took a sip of the orange juice, then stuffed it into his backpack. He picked up both suitcases again, and the two of them quickly made their way to the registration area.

The Film Academy's registration booth was set up in the distance, with many seniors sitting inside. Some were responsible for collecting information from new students, while others were tasked with guiding them to their dormitories.

Among them, Shen Yujing spotted a familiar face.

"Shen Yujing!" Cheng Kan waved at him with a smile. "You're here!"

The two had been chatting occasionally on WeChat recently, and while they weren't particularly close, they were on friendly terms.

Shen Yujing was surprised. "You're volunteering?"

"Yeah, I was just wondering if I'd run into you," Cheng Kan said, but his gaze shifted to Song Yi's face, his eyes filled with undisguised admiration. "You're… Song Yi? I've seen your photos on Shen Yujing's WeChat moments. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Song Yi smiled softly. "Hello."

A hint of unease crept into Shen Yujing's heart. He forced a smile and said, "Yes, this is my girlfriend. She's in the directing department."

Cheng Kan remarked, "The directing department? With looks like that, I thought she was studying acting."

Shen Yujing's expression darkened. "Cut it out. You've seen my WeChat moments and even checked the Saint Slee forums. Don't you know how well she performs academically? Acting? No way."

"I was just complimenting her beauty," Cheng Kan chuckled and didn't press further. Instead, he quickly helped them complete the registration and paperwork.

Next was dormitory assignment. Since they were in the same college, Song Yi and Shen Yujing's dormitory buildings were opposite each other and very close, which Shen Yujing found quite satisfying.

Cheng Kan turned to him and said, "Only volunteers are allowed into the girls' dormitory. You go ahead and drop off your luggage in your dorm. I'll help your girlfriend carry hers up."

Shen Yujing didn't respond immediately. Instead, he silently stared at the badge on Cheng Kan's chest.

Then he looked up and smiled. "Senior, can I ask you for a favor?"

In the end, Cheng Kan ended up carrying Shen Yujing's suitcase up to his dorm, while Shen Yujing, wearing a volunteer badge, accompanied Song Yi to her room.

When the dormitory door opened, two girls were already inside. They had arrived the day before and had already settled in.

Both seemed quiet or perhaps a bit reserved since it was their first meeting. They greeted Song Yi and then returned to their respective spots.

Shen Yujing, meanwhile, followed Song Yi inside and busied himself with setting up her bed, climbing up and down to install the bed curtains.

Song Yi looked up at him, a bit unsure. "Are you sure you can handle this?"

"Of course," Shen Yujing replied without hesitation.

Before the semester started, he had practiced installing bed curtains dozens of times at home.

Shen Yujing quickly finished and climbed down from the ladder. He walked over to Song Yi and asked, "Is there anything else you need help with?"

At that moment, the bespectacled girl next to them timidly peeked over and smiled shyly at Song Yi. "Your boyfriend is so good to you."

Song Yi smiled and thanked her.

Shen Yujing's ego was thoroughly stroked, and he continued to help Song Yi organize her things.

Then, the other roommate with long black hair turned around and said, "Song Yi? The girl in bed four is from the same high school as me. She should be here in about an hour. Do you want to go out for dinner together tonight?"

"Sure," Song Yi agreed immediately and took out her phone to add the girl on WeChat.

When Song Yi returned to her desk, Shen Yujing tugged at her sleeve and whispered, "Didn't we agree to…"

"Shh," Song Yi interrupted him, shaking her head.

Shen Yujing pursed his lips and said, "Fine."

After Shen Yujing returned to his own dorm, all three of his roommates had arrived.

They were all young guys and seemed quite outgoing, chatting and laughing together. One of them even expressed admiration for Shen Yujing, who had ranked first in the art school entrance exams.

Shen Yujing wore a polite but distant smile and eventually suggested, "How about we all go out for dinner tonight? My treat."

"Sure!" his roommates agreed enthusiastically.

That evening, at a hotpot restaurant.

Song Yi couldn't help but feel a bit exasperated when she noticed Shen Yujing sitting at a table diagonally across from her, winking at her.

Her roommate chuckled. "Your boyfriend is really protective of you, huh?"

The curly-haired girl who had arrived late that afternoon leaned over to look. "Which one is your boyfriend?"

"Over there," another roommate pointed. "The one at the table who's the most handsome."

Meanwhile, Shen Yujing's roommates were confused as they followed his gaze to Song Yi's table.

The guy in a basketball jersey sitting next to Shen Yujing asked, "Which one do you like?"

Another roommate answered before Shen Yujing could, "The one in the white dress is pretty. She looks so pure."

The third chimed in, "Should we go ask for her WeChat later?"

Shen Yujing picked up a piece of food with his chopsticks and glared at the two guys. "Stop staring. That's my girlfriend."

The table fell into an awkward silence.

By the end of the meal, Song Yi's table discovered that Shen Yujing had already paid their bill, and they teased him about it.

Finally, the curly-haired girl pushed Song Yi toward Shen Yujing and said, "She's all yours now. Just make sure to bring her back before curfew. We can't break the rules on the first day."

After her roommates left, Song Yi turned to Shen Yujing and asked, "Why did you come here?"

Shen Yujing handed her a cup of milk tea and said, "It's the first day of school, and everything's still unfamiliar. I was worried about you. I won't do it again."

Song Yi took the milk tea and asked, "There's a night market nearby. Want to check it out?"

Shen Yujing asked, "What's a night market?"

Song Yi thought for a moment and explained, "You can think of it as a place where people do business at night. There are lots of food stalls, as well as books, accessories, clothes, toys, and things like that. It's kind of like shopping at a mall."

"Sounds good," Shen Yujing nodded in agreement, then added, "Didn’t we agree to have dinner together next Saturday? Let’s pick out some gifts for him."

Saturday.

At the dinner table.

Murong Huan’s hand trembled slightly as she stared at the screaming chicken in front of her. "This is the gift you got me?"

Song Yi fell silent for a few seconds, unable to bear looking at the scene.

"Yep," Shen Yujing nodded and said, "You’re always yelling at Quan Le, right? That’s not good for your throat. From now on, just press this screaming chicken, and Quan Le will know you’re mad."

Murong Huan: "..."

She clenched her fists, gritting her teeth, "Shen Yujing! Today, I’ll show you how I express my anger without this screaming chicken!"

Quan Le quickly stopped Murong Huan, saying, "Don’t be mad, don’t take it out on him."

To divert Murong Huan’s attention, Quan Le opened the bag in front of him to see what gift Shen Yujing had given him.

The moment he pulled out a red mask, Quan Le’s expression froze. He looked at Shen Yujing and asked, "What is this?"

Shen Yujing replied, "A Guan Gong mask."

Quan Le: "So?"

Shen Yujing got a little flustered and said, "Guan Gong! Guan Yu! Guan Yunzhang!"

Quan Le: "I’m asking why you’re giving me a mask!"

"Because you’re shameless… oh, no, that’s not what I meant," Shen Yujing shook his head and explained, "Guan Yu is the God of War, representing loyalty and righteousness. In my heart, you’re always that kind of person—my best brother."

Even though the mask looked cheap and ugly, and Shen Yujing’s words sounded a bit like he was just making things up, Quan Le was easily convinced.

Fine, he’d reluctantly accept the mask.

Meanwhile, Xu Che and Hang Feng opened the boxes in front of them, their expressions almost identical in their complexity.

Xu Che held up a "metal ring" and asked, "What is this?"

Hang Feng took his gift out of the box—a metal ring almost identical to Xu Che’s—and looked at Shen Yujing with a puzzled expression, waiting for an explanation.

"It’s a friendship bracelet," Shen Yujing said. "Put it on first."

Though both Xu Che and Hang Feng were skeptical, they followed Shen Yujing’s instructions and put the rings on their wrists.

Shen Yujing then said, "Bring your hands closer together."

*BANG!*

The two rings seemed to have a powerful magnetic pull, and Xu Che and Hang Feng couldn’t control it as the rings snapped together.

Hang Feng: "?"

Xu Che: "?"

Xu Che took a deep breath and looked at Shen Yujing, "What is this thing?"

"It’s a brotherhood bracelet," Shen Yujing explained matter-of-factly. "It’s electronically controlled and will automatically release in an hour."

Xu Che: "..."

Hang Feng: "..."

Hang Feng: "What am I supposed to do for this hour?"

Shen Yujing: "..."

Oops… he forgot about that.

Everyone’s gifts were bizarre. Jiang Yiheng looked at the bag in front of him and suddenly lost the courage to open it.

But Shen Yujing wasn’t about to let him off so easily. He urged, "Jiang Yiheng! What are you doing? Why aren’t you opening your gift?"

Jiang Yiheng’s instincts told him there was probably nothing good inside.

So he asked cautiously, "First, tell me what’s in it."

"Huh?" This time, it was Shen Yujing’s turn to hesitate. He looked a bit troubled, "That’s not really appropriate."

Song Yi’s curious gaze fell on Shen Yujing because Jiang Yiheng’s gift was the most special. She couldn’t tell what it was, and Shen Yujing had kept it a secret, saying it was for Jiang Yiheng’s dignity as a man.

Jiang Yiheng coldly spat out one word, "Talk."

If Shen Yujing didn’t explain first, he might not have the courage to open the gift today. Who knew what strange thing might be inside?

"You’re forcing me to say it," Shen Yujing sighed with a look of resignation, then said, "Jiang Yiheng, out of everyone here, your gift is the most expensive—it cost me a full hundred bucks!"

The other four: "?"

Huh? So their gifts weren’t even worth a hundred?n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

But… even ten bucks for this stuff felt like a rip-off!

Shen Yujing’s expression turned mysterious again as he continued, "Your gift is truly special. I only saw this old master right before we left. He was sitting alone in a dark corner with a few boxes in front of him. He said they contained a secret formula passed down in his family for a hundred years. Everyone who’s used it has…"

Jiang Yiheng frowned and cut him off, "Get to the point."

"Alright," Shen Yujing nodded, his voice dripping with sincerity, "It’s foot odor powder."

Jiang Yiheng: "..."

Enough!!!
