Chapter 99 Purpose
Purpose
"... What do you think Master is doing?" Silver asked blankly, as he laid down, his head was on a pair of thighs. Kim's thighs to be specific, and she was gently stroking his hair.
"Chances are that something interesting happened with the Dimension and he's talking to himself about it." Kim answered.
Belladonna who was to the side saw the scene and giggled.
"My, you two are adorable." The comment caused Kim to blush slightly while Silver just looked slightly dazed. He'd had that look to him anytime he was with Kim recently. Almost as if he were perplexed by how he felt when he was near her.
At this point, all the members of the cohort had taken off their masks, there was no need to have them on anymore, since there was no one to hide from.
Prism and Lenax had told the original members of the group that Christopher had essentially kicked them out because he was doing something pretty dangerous, and they all became worried when they felt their connection with him fluctuate a bit. But gradually, it stabilised, and not only did it stabilise, it grew stronger, and beyond that, they felt their connection to the Dimension undergo a fundamental change, and knew that whatever had happened within the Dimension had resulted in a huge boom. The Mana within their bodies had also changed, becoming Void-Forged Mana which they knew would also do a lot for them in the future.
"Anyway." Belladonna turned her gaze to Titus and Aisha who were standing there kinda awkwardly.
After the enhancements, Titus had gotten taller, but not by a lot, only an inch or so. He still loved like a girl and was shorter than Kim, as for Aisha, she looked the same fundamentally, more beautiful, yes, as that was something that occurred naturally the stronger one became, but she also had a strange presence about her.
Aisha could use Fate magic, however her mastery over it was average at best. She performed well during the war as she was the only other person besides Christopher that could manipulate fate, but if she came face to face with someone who could really weave fate, then she'd be screwed.
That was before the enhancement though, and just by standing there, she had a strange magnetism to her. It wasn't as though she was a beacon of light or even releasing a 'look at me' type of presence. No, this was very subdued and hard to notice, and yet it still affected things around her and seemed to pull them in, as though quietly ensnaring them In a Web.
'That girl is interesting.' Umbra, who was laying down and lying around in his dragon form with his sister, opened one of his eyes and turned it towards Aisha.
'Indeed, she's giving off a similar feeling to when master began to use fate. I have a feeling she'll be put to work very soon.' Chiara responded to him telepathically and Umbra agreed.
"In any case. He should be summoning us back soon. Or coming out." Thanatos mumbled. And as if on cue, Christopher suddenly popped into existence high above the resting army.
His presence was like a beacon and everyone instantly fixed their attention on him. There were all sorts of gazes, but three primary looks his new subordinates gave him, gratitude, reverence, and complication.
The third one was mostly among the leaders of the armies. With the Emperor and Sylvaris looking the most complicated.
Christopher sighed in his heart and looked down on everyone and said calmly, though his voice was transmitted for all to hear.
"Well, I'm not particularly good at speeches, but I'll try my best." He said honestly before continuing.
"the battle is over, and the Void's avatar has been destroyed, meaning this world is no longer at risk." At this, many of the soldiers unconsciously relaxed.
Naturally, they had felt the aftershocks of the intense battle between Christopher and the Void, and the fact that their energy was so thick that it covered the entire planet was a testament to their power.
Not to mention the fact that 70% of the moon was no longer there.
That memory made many of them stare at him with awe and veneration.
Christopher huffed and continued.
"You must have all been briefed on the situation, so yes, your homes and families are all safely within my realm which you will now call your home from now on." He smiled.
"You are all my people, and you will be treated as such, everything that happened here is just the start, each and every single one of you will experience greatness you never even imagined as long as you are under me. So rejoice!" He finished and the army broke into cheers.
'How was that?' He asked his weapons.
'It was okay.'
'Average at best.' The second one, which was by Norn, made him feel like he'd been stabbed, but he let it slide. He really wasn't good at these types of things.
'Master, what about the Voidwalkers we spared?' At that moment, Belladonna's voice echoed in Christopher's voice softly.
'Right.' His gaze shifted to the group of masked… well not anymore, but the group of people that had been unmasked, stripped down to their small clothes, and tied up.
Christopher teleported to their front and their all stared at him with shock and apprehension.
"Who is the highest ranking person in this group?" Christopher asked calmly and the army watched curiously, wanting to see what their new Master would do to these people.
After a few seconds, someone spoke up.
It was a Man who looked quite average and was pretty lanky and pale. He had several injuries over his body and seemed quite battered. It was the Assistant.
"Me…" He said a but weakly, though his voice held no fear.
Nodding, Christopher walked in front of him and stared down at him.
"What's your name?" He asked.
"... Peter." The Assistant, Peter, answered.
Hearing this, Christopher nodded again and spoke again, though this time, his voice was addressing all the Voidwalkers, of which there were about 200 of them.
Christopher nodded.
"Well then, Peter, I want you lot to work for me." Hearing this, the Voidwalkers… weren't overly surprised, it was easy to guess that Christopher wanted something like that from them since he decided to spare them.
However, Peter snorted.
"Why are you asking us? I'm sure you have a way to guarantee our loyalty judging by the fact you managed to convince those people to work for you unconditionally. Why are you trying to coax us when you can just force us? You think you're some kind of hero?" Peter said, calling out the Hypocrisy. Christopher thus far had taken an incredible amount of people into his Dimension without their input, whether or not they were his enemies. So why do so now?
Hearing this, however, Christopher nodded slowly.
"You're right," He started, his calm gaze piercing through Peter and the other Voidwalkers. "I could just force you. My Dimension ensures that. And I've done it a bunch of times already. But this isn't about some heroics or some self-righteous notion of morality. I'm not here to be a savior or a Tyrant. If I were, then I'd be no different from the being you worship. The blind pursuit of a single purpose without thought to the consequences." He stepped closer, his presence suffocating, but not hostile.
"If you work under me you can still serve Oblivion, yes, but not in the same way you've done before. Worshipping it blindly, sowing destruction without understanding that doing so disrupts a fine balance. Creation and Void are two sides of the same coin. They exist because of each other, and when you try to destroy one, you destroy the foundation of the other. That's not faith. That's ignorance." The words made the Voidwalkers look at each other, a sense of unease coming over them. Christopher continues, his tone slightly sharper, but still lacking malice.
"I'm giving you a choice, a real one. Serve me willingly and inhabit a part of my Dimension where Void energy thrives. Use your knowledge and connection to Oblivion to maintain balance, not mindless ruin. If you refuse, well, you can guess what happens next. But I want you to understand that this isn't about domination." Christopher then opened a portal to his Dimension, and everyone watched in shock as beyond it, a black sphere, Nihilheim, floated quietly. The sheer scale of Void energy released a testament to his strength.
"Serving me willingly means you'll have purpose, autonomy within the bounds of balance. Force? That's a last resort. Not because I can't, but because true strength isn't just about control, it's about understanding. You can choose to stay what you are now. Blind Faithfuls with a bleak future, or you can become something greater, as I have." The Voidwalkers were silent for a time, then Peter spoke with some skepticism.
"And if we choose willingly, what guarantees do we have that you won't just turn us into pawns for later?" At that, Christopher just shrugged.
"You'll have nothing but my word. And if that's not enough for you then consider This. I have no interest in pawns. I want beings who understand their roles and choose to be part of something bigger. My Dimension, my world, isn't a prison. That part of it is a home for those who understand the Void's true nature. If you can't see that, then you've already failed the Void you claim to serve." Everyone fell silent at this.
The Voidwalkers now looked visibly uncertain. Peter stared at Christopher and seemed to be weighing his words carefully. For the first time, their dogmatic resolve wavers, replaced by a faint glimmer of something else. Hope, or perhaps clarity. Experience tales at empire
After a while, Peter sighed and stared at Christopher in the eye.
"We accept." He said simply, and the Voidwalkers nodded in agreement.
At this, Christopher smiled slightly.
"Good choice." Then with a thought, he sent all of them into the Dimension.
'That was many times better than what you said to us Master.' Kim's voice echoed in his mind, her tone one of surprise.
'Indeed, very insightful.' Thanatos agreed.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
'Was it that good?' Christopher thought with some surprise, he'd just been talking.
'It was very impressive master!' Chiara chimed in happily.
'Well I'll be damned.' He chuckled and looked up slightly.
'Alright, next order of business, those dragons.'
What do you think?
