Chapter 316 A Task
Zhang Liling made sure to convince Tungmei at the end of the day about just how stressful being a company owner was.
"Just look at me, I haven't had the time to take a break because of my work."
"I guess this is what you signed up for." Tungmei retorted as she slurped her juice while looking away from her
Slowly, she had come to an agreement with her.
A series of chuckles escaped Zhang Liling's lips as she watched her.
"I guess taking you out would help to calm your hot head."
"It really should otherwise you would hear that I killed someone at work." Tungmei released a deep breath to calm her nerves.
Raising a questioning brow, Zhang Liling probed while giving her the side glance. "Someone at work is annoying you? Surely it can't be Mingyu, right?"
Tungmei scoffed in annoyance. Then without giving her the chance to think, she dropped the bombshell.
"Secret girlfriend?"
Zhang Liling couldn't believe her ears. Her half-brother had a secret girlfriend from his work place?
What about his marriage plans to a girl from the same league as the Zhang family? Had he forgotten about that or he just wants to have some fun first?
Zhang Liling was suddenly curious as the feeling of surprise slowly turned to curiosity.
Interested in the affairs of the young man that had no rations to her in any way, she began to question Tungmei who remained adamant at her own decision.
"Curious to know about your brother? Then you have to schedule another date with me. Cause if I tell your everything I know, who knows when next we would get to sit like now."
Tungmei was very smart with her condition for spilling all she knew about Zhang Mingyu's secret relationship.
She knew very well that her best friend would get busy with work since she had a lot on her hands, but she had to at least have a leverage against her otherwise, how would she get to talk to her and clear her head after a stressful day at work?
"Alright. Let's chat about it some other time," Zhang Liling conceded with a small smile playing at the corner of her lips.
Zhang Liling understood her friend's plight and decided to give in to her.
The reason she was not lonely like Tungmei was because she had a supportive mother by the side. Not just that, she also had a boyfriend and her company matters.
Tungmei on the other hand, seemed like her life was turning upside down. She had annoying parents that always disturbed her for money. She barely had any savings.
Now at work, as an intern, she had so much work to do plus annoying colleagues as well.
Basically, she was the only person she had that was good to her and she was willing to make sacrifices for her even though it looked like her schedule was already choked up at the moment because of her company.
The second time the two friends met again, Tungmei spilled all she knew about Zhang Mingyu and his secret girlfriend.
"I nearly caught them kissing one day I stepped into Mingyu's office to find Mikayla as she had been gone for a pretty long time. But guess what..."
"They pretended that nothing was going on?" Zhang Liling laughed.
Tungmei nodded as she slammed her palm on the table. "You are right on point. They both acted like I was a fool. Immediately I stepped in, your brother pretended to be showing something to her on his laptop."
"Hahaha... They must have really thought you were a fool." Zhang Liling chuckled while pointing her week index finger at her.
The situation was not funny, but the annoyance spread across Tungmei's facez made her erupt in laughter.
She could tell just how annoyed she must have been with their pretence.
"I actually felt like going up there to slap Mikayla's cheeks. But I couldn't as it was not my place." Tungmei continued through gritted teeth.
It was truly aggravating to find the one person that gave you troubles, out there almost making up with the brother of your friend in his office.
After leaving her desk to go and submit a file to Zhang Mingyu's office for over several minutes, Tungmei was sent to go and look for her, making her abandon the work she had a target to finish.
Tungmei actually felt like slapping that rosy cheeks of hers.
Gradually, Zhang Liling's chuckle died down as her facial expression turned serious.
"Well, I known Mingyu very well. Even if he was dating that girl, it would all be for fun. He would never be serious about it because he has a wife prospect."
What she actually meant was simple. Zhang Mingyu was not foolish enough as to have a serious relationship with that kind of girl when she was not the kind of person he would want to marry.
Even if he truly liked her, he was already aware that he would never be able to end up with her.
It was not in the Zhang family that you would end up with someone of that social status.
Leave Zhang Renshu aside, Shi Wenqian would never allow that.
That woman that was power hungry was doing all she could just to get the best candidate for a daughter-in-law based on her family's background.
Zhang Liling wouldn't be surprised if Shi Wenqian went as far as trying to get rid of any girl that was not of standard that came close to her son and become attached to him.
She was capable of doing something as simple as that.
Tungmei shook her head. "I guess they are having fun indeed. I wonder who is going to get hurt."
Looking into the distance, Zhang Liling said as her lips curled into a smirk. "It would be good if there relationship turned out great so I can have some evidences in my hand."
"What are you going to do with it?" Tungmei asked, her eyes squinting at her as if trying to depict her inner thoughts.
"Something big."
Tilting her head to the side, she replied before going on to make a request.
"Tungmei, I will need your help. Please help me get so many pictures of them together as you can. It would be good if you can get one. I know the task will be a bit difficult given the work space, but you have to try for me."
Sliding her fingers against the transparent glass in front of her, she added, "I need to teach someone a lesson soon."
She could at least use those pictures to provoke Shi Wenqian a little.
Who knows what her reaction would be seeing those kind of photos on the net. Surely she would be displeased.
Tungmei agreed as she was with her on her plans. "l do what I can."
"Let's go shopping after my brand's launch." Zhang Liling announced, taking her hands in hers.
There was a big smile on her face as her brows moved upwards in a funny way.
It's been a long time. And since her friend could not afford to spend money on herself, the least she could do as someone privilege was to help out.
Tungmei finished the rest of her drink all smiles as the stress she felt after a day at work, came dissipating into the empty air.
"I wouldn't want to remind you of your promise" She said, sending a wink across their table.
