Chapter 233 - Inviting Disaster From A Mad Master
The supposed battlefield was now a desolate land, no living body in miles, in fact the place was empty of everything, only the craters told of a battle
"No bodies"
YuJu frowned, not even a speck of blood, what on earth happened here
"Where are those presumably killed?"
Donning his masked persona he asked Sid by the side
"Gone, disintegrated, it appears those spears the winged ones wield can wipe away any trace of those they kill, the armored people never killed anybody, leaving them injured only to be speared through from the sky"
Sid's voice was shaking, in anger rather than fear, all he could do as his comrades and guild members died was watch on in horror, how laughable and weak compared to that armored woman
"! RIght, the armored lady with you, they took her away"
"I know"
"Oh…"
YuJu was more than clear on the matter, he could feel her getting further and further away, and since there came back no response of any kind he could guess she was rendered unconscious
'To be capable of knocking her out before she realizes the enemy must be strong'
That said he wouldn't just let them have her, god knew what they would do to her there, best case scenario they would keep her captive, worst case…
'Torture the information out before killing'
And that was the most plausible one
'First, they would need to understand the language, that would take time'
Time he couldn't waste, it was the only opportunity to get her out safe and sound
"Just when I decided to ground him home"
"?"
Unable to make out the mutter under YuJu's breath Sid looked confused, before he could ask for the next course of action however heavy steps fissured the earth beneath them
"They are back?!"
Alarmed he took a look in the direction of the steps, all geared up for battle and so did the other guild leaders
What stomped in was not those armored beings, no, I was only one much bigger and scarier creature
"What…the hell"
"How are we even supposed to fight this monster"
"You got to be kidding me"
Hopelessness was etched on all their faces as they took in the long spiked figure of the Gardelos, symbols of red writhing on its skin under the swirling fumes of death covering that oversized body, everything told them this monster was one they could not beat
"Took you a bit"
Spoke the masked man beside them, his words half woke them from the fear, only when he jumped to the ride the monster did they finally snap out of it, watching the Gardelos swish its tail and turn toward the direction of their new enemies
"....Here I was worried about his friend, now I'm more worried about those armored people"
"Yeah, no kidding…"
With a monster like that there was no need to fear, the only ones who should be were their enemies
Feeling like things just might go well SId took a deep breath, calming his rapidly beating heart and returning to the level headed commander he was
"Everyone, retreat from the front, we are switching our priority from leveling to defense, make a scouting line extending from this place to our camps, leave not a viable way for the enemy to catch us unprepared again!"
"Yes!!"
Heading his command the Scroungers guild members obeyed, shouts of agreement soon followed as the other guild leaders gave their own orders
...…..
Beyond the new world's border, hidden under the creak of a valley lay a fortress one so glamourous and aweing one would wonder why they bothered to hide it here anyway
Inlaid with gems to match the extravagance of its golden design the fortress looked like a masterpiece, one that was heavily guarded as the flying figure of spear wielders kept patrolling the sky above it, meanwhile heavily armored people wandered its halls in search of anything out of the ordinary
Not everything was pretty inside this perfect abode though, if you search deeper, hidden under its spotless tiles, you would find a prison, marred with blood, rusty were its tough bars, everything about it screamed of death, especially the silence
"Puh!"
Today however a person's pained sounds broke this silence, sprouting new blood onto the dirty floor, red as her hair
"What a lovely voice you have, why not speak with it? I promise to hold back in my punches"
Speaking human with a snicker about them was one of those armor clad people, only this one had taken off most of her armor, only keeping on her gauntlets and boots to use against the chained up captive of theirs
"You look much like us, only tinier, and uglier"
The feminish metallic voice spoke arrogantly, her shiny golden skin reflecting the dim light, almost blinding Ellis from the womanly figure
"Ugly? At least I have a normal face, you look like someone clipped your nose off and stretched your mouth wide open"
"Pff hahaha"
The torturer laughed, she couldn't help it, the description in comparison to the human race was so accurate, indeed her kind lacked a so called nose and instead had bigger maws
"Nice one, almost made want to hit you less, NOT!"
Slamming her knee into Ellis's gut she watched as the woman gasped for air
"You should be about done with your smart quips now no? Make this easier on yourself and spill the beans, who among your race is as powerful as you?"
"..."
"Haah, so stubborn"
Following the mock sigh the metallic woman smiled widely
"Just the way I like it"
The sound of punches and kicks resumed, never giving the pooer Ellis time to breath, even so the redhead did not falter, how could she when the now angered master of hers was approaching at breakneck speed
'It would have been good if they kept me unconscious, now that they woke me up and started torturing me…'
Perhaps he had a cold mask of uncaringness now, but that man was seething, was it due to pride or really for her sake she did not know, one thing was for sure, these iron hunks would have a very, very bad end
