Nature was trampled under their charge with Ellis as the lead who mightly swung her sword at the beasts of many breeds banding together in a united front, unsurprisingly cleaving everything in her weapon's path in half

The rest, humans be they or thralls, exercised some caution during the first clash, attacking and giving way to others, but as the fight rumbled on they got braver by the minute seeing the enemy so weak, even they were better when the earth was invaded

Every land walker was sliced apart, stabbed to death or sashed into smithernes, flyers were shot down withhin moments and even the few beasts who tried attacking from underground were squashed in the very place they took cover with under the earth mage's skills

And these were not even the usual combat units, the one's manning the front, other than Ellis, were all usually backup or on standby

The real capable ones were acting as support to help anyone in need of assistance while the top brass were at the far back of the army, conducting the war and conserving their energy for the tougher enemies

At least so was the plan but after several hours of tireless fighting the sea of beasts did not look like it had diminished at all

"Hmm, notice anything strange yet?"

The voice of Ephai sounded near them as the smoke which previously tore into enemy territory returned

His question got them thinking that things weren't supposed to happen this way, and the first to 'figure it out' was his masked self

"Go fetch me one of the fighters at the front"

He ordered and Ika blurred from his side, soon appearing with a guy swinging his sword around before flinching and looking about in confusion

"Did you level up?"

The masked YuJu asked but it only made him tremble, no one could blame him though for YuJu's getup combined with the mask and the cold atmosphere was enough to make these them who slashed beasts effortlessly afraid

"Larry, how many times did you level up during the fight?"

Came the question from one of the upper members of this man's guild, snapping him out of his silence to check his status

"Huh, that's weird, I'm still the same level after all those kills?"

A frown adorned everyone's face after hearing that

"Could they be way too low leveled for even our normal members to gain anything?"

"That's possible"

"Verity, check if anything is weird about those beasts"

Nee interjected the discussion and had the blindfolded thrall reveal the enemy's trick

A strange light spread from Verity, creeping toward the battlefield and covering a small part of it, the beasts who were touched upon by it instantly started retreating as if they met their nemesis

"There certainly is something wrong with them, I am not sure what exactly the problem is but I can tell that they are partly unreal"

"Unreal? Hmm"

Nee brought her hand to her chin in thought, looking at her army of thralls and then the endless numbers of the enemy

"Have our forces retreat for now, we shall gather more information on these foes before striking once more"

"Yes"

Hearing the order the human side also called for a withdrawal

That's how the side that was winning slowly but surely backed away, leaving the land of the newcomers with their promise of pain and death unfulfilled

"Is that woman not retreating?"

The Poison Bite guild's leader spoke with a little irritation in her tone for some reason as she watched Ellis tearing through everything around her like she wasn't all alone in a sea of beasts

"Let's go"

Suddenly spoke the masked guy making her swivel her head toward him only to see his cloak flutter with each step he took toward the enemy

"I wouldn't advise it, the big guy in there is a troublesome fellow"

Ephai advised out of goodwill but the masked person was having none of it

"Wouldnt want it any other way"

"Hahaha, that's Pride for you"

Even as he laughed at the man's bravery Ephai followed behind, whether it was to lend a hand if need be or to enjoy a good struggle they didn't know

"Pride…"

The Poison Bite's leader muttered under her breath, eyes glued to the masked man's back, all the way till he disappeared into enemy formation, leaving behind a trail of death like no other

"How does my Lord do that?"

After disappearing from enemy view Ika finally asked the question bothering her all this time

"Do what?"

"Speak without a voice"

YuJu realized she was talking about how Ephai was able to speak when YuJu was standing trite next to her

"It's a trick every assassin needs to learn, otherwise you couldn't negotiate without revealing your approximate location "

"Can I learn it?"

He nodded, if he had time he should indeed teach her a thing or two about being an assassin, though she was not going down that path fully given her witch class

"Master, I seem to have felt some sort of aura coming from those things"

"Did you now? What sort of aura"

"Its weird but…almost every possible aura I could think of"

"Haha"

Hearing him laugh she realized it was just her illusion

"It's not to the extent of being every aura, that's too much of an exaggeration, but indeed it was a few hundred types wasn't it"

"! So they did have aura"

"More than that"

Taking off his mask revealed a grave look

"They are made of it"

"!!"

Elis was instantly reminded of the constructs inside the Aura Scape, could they be something like it?

"These things are very troublesome, hiding all day and eluding the enemy to think hey wee doing some damage while they were merely tiring them out for an opportunity to strike"

"Then why did we fight them?"

"To convince everyone that no benefit came from attacking, that way I don't have to bother worrying about them making reckless moved again"

Ellis and Ika shared a glance, it seems they were also fooled this time around

With no further questions the two speed up their pace of clearing way until they reached a cloud of YuJu's aura covering a small area, inside from came two figures

"Shall I start my Lord"

"Awuwu!"

Zero and Anput looked excited to be on the battlefield again, it had been some time since they could fight freely

"Go ahead"

Responding to Zero he watched as she extended a hand and spoke in a hushed voice, calling from the void all that was vile and vicious to appear before her, and appear they did, with floating bodies adorned in claws, a ravenous set of shark teeth, and red eyes almost bleeding in thirst for death

"Follow the smoke, and don't do anything untoward"

She ordered the smiling things, unsure if they would truly follow or not

"Grhhh"

The evil spirits responded and started floating about without purpose, wanting to find anything to kill and fill their thirst

"Be ready to strike"

Walking forward he allowed his aura which surrounded them for a bit to disperse, instantly finding many gazes lingering on their small party, some of which didn't feel right while others were very notable

'There'

First, he commanded Anput to strike at a precise location through their thought communication, the hound happily followed and sent one of her shadows in for a sneak attack, the undead creature burst forth from the ground smashing at empty ground, yet it hit something?

"Mi!!!!"

A big ball of hair with tiny yellow eyes was revealed to them, squirming under the big boar's hooves

Slash!

Without a second's delay Elis dove in and cut it in half, putting an end to the poor fellow's misary

Her merciless actions put shock on Ika's face, thinking to herself that the woman was becoming uncaring just like everyone else

'How could she kill such a harmless looking cute ball of fur like that?'

She would have to kill them too but that didn't mean she would look as uncaring as Ellis, at least she could show some humane emotions

'There is one'

Seeing the smoky aura of her lord's attach to her arm and point somewhere she followed until coming before a huge dog lit in flames, the smoke ignored the thing and so did she, going toward the underbelly of the creature

The smoke spread in a bursting manner and Ika realized that it was time to strike, readying her blade to put an end to the poor creature in one strike

'Sorry little fellow, it's not perso-'

Crunch!

A set of teeth no less scary than the evil spirits' appeared around her, snapping down with speed so fast she couldn't avoid without using her fire step, saving her in the nick of time

Her heart palpitating she looked at the murderball, mouth hidden once more under all that hair

"...Give me back my pity!"

Aggrieved Ika burst forth, rending the thing into cinders and going on a rampage to hunt every one of those murder floofs!
