Chapter 172: A Visit to the Green Sanctuary Peak, Silent Hostility; Yang Wei and Xie Xiang's Confrontation.
A good day to be outside...
Yang Wei strolled confidently along the sect's broad pathways, hands casually tucked behind his back.
He had already left Spirit Harmony Peak behind and was making his way to the place where he knew he could find the solution he needed.
If I plan to refine a true Blood Strengthening Pill, first I'll need a lot of information from some more advanced medicinal manuals. Plus, I don't even have a cauldron that can handle the corrosive power of a celestial dragon's blood or the ingredients I'd need, since I used them up refining those sixth-grade pills.
The only place I can get all these is at the Green Sanctuary Peak.
A self-satisfied smile appeared on his face.
Since I'm on good terms with them, I'm sure they'd be happy to have me.
He kept on walking.
Still, he couldn't help but notice the odd looks from some of the disciples. They greeted him with respect, but there were definitely a few who seemed amused or bewildered by his presence; looking at him as though he'd gone mad.
"Hm?" Yang Wei muttered, noticing their stares.
Why're they staring at me like that...?
It didn't take long for him to realize the reason for their curious glances. He glanced up at the slime resting on his head and chuckled. "Ah, it's because of this little guy."
Not letting their eyes stop his stride, Yang Wei dramatically swished his wide sleeves. "Imagine these disciples daring to stare so disrespectfully at their senior." Merely looking at his face, you could tell he'd been waiting to say that one for a while now.
He held his head high, walking with pride, making it clear to everyone that whether or not he had a slime on his head, he still exuded elegance.
After a few more hours, Yang Wei finally reached his destination.
Green Sanctuary Peak.
It was his first time visiting another peak in the sect.
Usually, he focused solely on his cultivation and didn't bother with other peaks. Whatever he needed seemed to come to him without much effort.
"Piiidi! Piiidi!" the slime chirped happily as it took in the sights of Green Sanctuary Peak, seeming excited to be there.
Yang Wei chuckled and replied to the slime, "I can't deny, this place looks even more appealing than Spirit Harmony Peak." He nodded in approval, admiring the scenery.
"Piidi!"
When Yang Wei stepped into the territory of Green Sanctuary Peak, he initially underestimated its size compared to other peaks.
However, as he fully entered, he realized its vastness.
"Wow..."
He spotted several junior disciples caring for the abundant wild plants that surrounded the area.
With few buildings scattered around and vegetation covering every inch, the place felt cozy, with towering trees casting a warm shade over the peak. It wasn't exactly dark, but neither was it overly bright.
And the most pacifying thing about this place? The fragrant aroma of medicines and flowers.
Hm, as expected of a peak that has experience in concocting spirit medicines.
It didn't take long for the people cultivating near spirit-boosting plants or gathering herbs to notice the confident man who had entered their sect.
They could already tell he was important thanks to his Heavenly Phoenix Robes that screamed excellence.
Surely, this was an Inner Sect disciple, but the fact that he wore customized robes meant he was a Star Disciple!
Soon, someone shouted, "It's Senior Brother Yang!"
"I-it really is him!"
"Here?! In our peak?!"
"Outstanding!"
Everyone smiled and rushed over to him like a wave. Some brought out scrolls with incomplete pill formulas, while others showed off samples of pills they had refined. They all looked like eager school children wanting to meet their teacher and learn any tips to improve.
"Senior Brother, please I need help completing this pill formula!"
"No, I need more help, Senior Brother!"
"No, me! Please, can you tell me what herbs would work best for this combination?!"
The disciples swarmed around Yang Wei, eagerly thrusting scrolls and pills toward him with burning, knowledge-hungry eyes.
Yang Wei chuckled, trying to calm them down.
"Calm down, young ones. I'll get to each of you in time."
Some of the disciples didn't even want to learn anything—they just wanted to touch Yang Wei, even if just once, to see how it felt.
Suddenly, a voice cut through the commotion, demanding, "What's causing all this commotion here?!"
Immediately, the disciples fell silent and shifted away from Yang Wei as if he were the plague.
This single action showed the immense respect they had for this authoritative feminine voice.
The beautiful young woman donned the light green and white robes of Green Sanctuary Peak. A slight difference in her uniform marked her as an Inner Sect disciple, and a Star Disciple to boot. Her long, straight light brown hair flowed gracefully, complementing her narrow, phoenix-like eyebrows and piercing purple eyes, cold as ice.
With a lovely complexion and a slender frame, she exuded pure elegance and grace.
Xie Xiang, Guo Xiaomei's martial niece.
She stepped forward, walking calmly through the parted crowd of junior disciples. "What's all this noise for? Would you dare disturb the peaceful sanctity that Green Sanctuary Peak prides itself on?" she questioned.
The junior disciples shook their heads, looking apologetic.
Xie Xiang let the silence linger for a moment before asking, "What caused this unacceptable noise?"
With composure, Yang Wei spoke up, "Me."
Xie Xiang looked at this nameless man from head to toe, trying to place him, but she couldn't quite figure out who he was. Still, his attire was enough for her to tell he was a Star Disciple.
Wait a moment...
Her soft, thought-consumed expression hardened little by little as certain physical traits caught her attention, causing her eyes to narrow slightly.
Snow-white hair...
Blue eyes...
Specially tailored Inner robes...
Could he possibly be...
Her fists tightened and she held her thoughts from making any unnecessary assumptions. "And who might you be?" Xie Xiang asked with her bold voice, though less feminine now.
Yang Wei cleared his throat, smiling. "I'm surprised you don't know who I am..." He adjusted his robes in a manner nothing short of self-congratulatory. "Perhaps you've heard of the name Yang Wei?" his voice deepened.
At the mention of his name, Xie Xiang immediately bowed her head and clenched her fist in greeting. Explore more adventures at mvl
As a proud woman, she found it difficult to show deference to a man whom she not only deemed undeserving but also harbored pure hatred for even before meeting him. However, she had been instructed to do so if she ever encountered him. "Greetings, Star Disciple Yang," she said.
This arrogant bastard keeps snagging more than half of the resources meant for Star Disciples, leaving us with a smaller portion to divvy up amongst ourselves! And it's even more infuriating that the elders would prioritize a man like him over a woman.
Curse you, Yang Wei!
When she lifted her gaze, she noticed Yang Wei hadn't returned her greeting with a bow of his own. Anger simmered inside her—how dare he act as if he were her superior when they were of the same rank!
He even dared show up here unannounced, and the disciples on watch duty let him. Green Sanctuary Peak does not take kindly to outsiders!
Ignoring her irritation, Yang Wei stated, "I'd like to see Peak Chief Guo Xiaomei."
Xie Xiang stood upright, interlocking her fingers. "For what reason, if I may ask?"
Yang Wei rubbed his chin, more interested in the scenery than her. "No, you may not," he replied casually. "It's something I wouldn't want anyone else to know about, and I'm sure she wouldn't mind my unannounced visit."
Xie Xiang's eyes widened slightly.
H-how did he--!
Yang Wei gave her a knowing look. "That's what you were thinking, right?"
Struggling to maintain a neutral expression, Xie Xiang turned away. "Please, follow me."
"Excellent."
It was scenes like these that made the male disciples have hope that they would once more be relevant in the sect.
