The assistant had bought the famous Yao’s Soup Dumplings from the film city, known for their thin skin and generous filling. Gu Huanhuan used to love them and would ask the assistant to buy a serving every morning. However, the moment the aroma of the dumplings wafted out of the bag, she felt nauseous and revolted.

Could she have eaten something bad? She didn’t recall eating anything unusual the previous day. Her appetite had been poor lately, likely due to stomach issues. She planned to take care of it once filming wrapped up.

The assistant looked at the dumplings in her hand, unsure of what to do. How could this happen?

Suddenly, a thought crossed her mind. With a peculiar expression, she leaned close to Gu Huanhuan’s ear and whispered, “Sister Huanhuan, could you be pregnant? My sister-in-law just got pregnant, and her reaction was exactly like yours.”

“Hmm?” Gu Huanhuan glanced at her, bewildered. Then she slowly shifted her gaze to her own stomach. After a moment, she murmured, “Pregnant?”

She suddenly remembered that her period had been delayed for some time. She had attributed it to adjusting to the new location and had dismissed it, as it had happened before.

Although she had longed for a baby with Wen Chi, the suddenness of the possibility took her by surprise.

“Judging by your reaction, you’re probably pregnant,” the assistant laughed. “You and Dr. Wen are so in love; it’s perfectly natural.”

Blushing, Gu Huanhuan wondered how Wen Chi would react. He had always wanted a daughter and would hold onto her cousin’s little girl, Joy, whenever they visited.

“But it’s still early phrase. You shouldn’t overwork yourself. Maybe you should tell Sister Gao and take a few days off to rest. We can reshoot your scenes later,” the assistant Zhao, suggested thoughtfully. Though she was a year younger than Gu Huanhuan, she was more experienced and considerate.

“No need. I’m feeling fine. I can manage a few more days. I’ll be careful,” Gu Huanhuan reassured her with a smile.

“Alright, I’ll get a pregnancy test from a nearby pharmacy for you later. That way, we can be sure, and then you can go to the hospital for a check-up,” Xiao Zhao said.

“Okay, thank you,” Gu Huanhuan said sincerely.

The thought of being pregnant lingered in her mind, making her anxious. As a result, her morning scenes didn’t go well, with two takes needed to get a shot right.

Concerned, Lu Yiming asked, “Do you need a break? You don’t look well. If you’re too tired, take a day off. We want to produce our best work.”

Gu Huanhuan gave him a faint smile and nodded. Director Zheng approached them, “Huanhuan, take half a day off to adjust. I’ll shoot other scenes in the meantime.”

“Thank you, Director Zheng. Sorry for the trouble. I’ll go rest at the hotel,” Gu Huanhuan said, feeling her stomach churn. She quickly changed out of her costume and headed back to the hotel.

“Must be nice to take time off at the slightest discomfort. Not worried about holding up everyone else,” Qin Wan’er said sourly, her voice low but loud enough for Gu Huanhuan to hear.

This time, Gu Huanhuan decided to ignore it. She felt too unwell to engage.
