Chapter 779 Armakea
"You almost gave Azikh and Gidan a heart attack with that suggestion," Cyneah told Kyran with a hopeless smile as they went to the Infirmary.
Almost two hours had passed after the four met in the receiving room, and Kyran had suggested a conquest.
Azikh and Gidan initially thought they did not hear Kyran properly. But when the latter continued to explain his suggestion, they turned pale, and Azikh almost fainted.
Gidan had it better but was also scared out of his wits.
By the time Kyran finished his explanation, the two more or less understood why he suggested a conquest. Even so, that move was such a huge leap that they could not respond immediately.
In the end, Kyran did not try to persuade them. In return, he asked them to think it over and consider it. The two agreed and promised to give him their answer tomorrow.
Because of the raid, Gidan was too exhausted to think properly and did not want to overlook anything when deciding.
The same went with Azikh. Although he did not participate in defending the borders, he had been with Cyneah and patiently relayed what was happening on the battlefield. That was how Cyneah knew Kyran had used his bare hands to fight the enemies and was worried he had broken them.
Kyran agreed. Regardless of their answer, he would still teach them how to defend the border properly.
"One of the reasons they can't defend the borders properly is because they lack real soldiers," Kyran replied with a shrug. "Being an Eidum, that is something we can't resolve no matter how much we try. Thus, if they can't make soldiers out of their people, conquering another nation with better soldiers will solve that."
"You make it sound so easy," Cyneah replied with a sigh. "But how can we even win against a nation with real soldiers if we don't have the strength to defend our borders?"
Kyran looked at Cyneah's profile in silence. But not because her words made sense, which they do, but because he noticed how she included herself among the Eidums. Hearing that somehow made his heart sink.
"Nar?" Cyneah looked to her right when Kyran remained silent.
"A conquest does not always mean defeating another nation in a bloody war," he replied after a short pause. "Yes, there will be fighting, but if one side shows absolute dominance over the other, unnecessary bloodshed can be prevented."
Cyneah shook her head with a helpless smile, "I understand the logic, but we don't have that kind of strength, Nar."
"The Eidums do. The only problem is, they don't know how to utilize their advantage," Kyran replied.
"Still—."
"There's no point talking about it now," Kyran cut her off. "Since Azikh and Gidan have not said anything yet."
He did not mean to be too abrupt when interrupting her. But he hated hearing her refer to herself as one of the Eidums.
Kyran knew he was being unreasonable.
Cyneah had been living in Somuli for seven years. And she had been staying with the Eidums for over four years. For an outsider like her who went through a lot alone on a foreign plane and escaped a certain death before being taken by the Eidums, it was not hard to imagine why she easily considered herself one of them.
Nevertheless, Kyran did not like it.
"Well," Cyneah nodded slowly, seemingly oblivious to Kyran's internal frustration. She continued, "You're right. We'll have to wait until tomorrow to hear what they say.
"So... how will you teach them to defend the borders properly?"
"Start with the basics," Kyran responded.
"Basics?"
"You're welcome to join if you want to know."
"I'll probably get in the way. Besides, we have to check our inventory for mana and healing potions."
"Right," Kyran almost forgot that Soria and Yalen were still inside his Void World and new supplies. "I need to take the supplies to the warehouse."
"I... Let me take you there."
"There is no need. You're needed in the Infirmary. After I drop off the supplies, I'll come help, too."
"Okay."
After the two parted ways, Kyran took Soria and Yalen from the Void world.
Both had pale complexions and looked as if they had aged several years. Obviously, Kyran cutting off their visuals made them worry.
Before they could question Kyran, they realized they were inside the HQ and, finally, let out a sigh of relief.
"Why did you suddenly cut off the connection again?"
"Got another emergency," Kyran replied vaguely. "They needed help in the Infirmary; it's best for you to go there."
Yalen initially wanted to protest. But she could only nod and leave for the Infirmary when she thought about why she was there.
"Well, I suppose I have to report back to my team as well," Soria said.
Kyran only nodded in response. However, before he could proceed to the warehouse, Soria looked at him solemnly and said, "But before that, Nar. You... know how to use lost technology, don't you?"
Kyran did not respond. He did not even show any reaction. It was a little unnerving, to be honest.
After a short pause, however, he smiled before turning to leave.
Soria was thrilled. Though Kyran did not answer, his smile meant a lot to her.
After all, there was an ancient saying: Silence means yes.
Soria knew how dangerous it could be to someone who knew something that had left most of the inhabitants and scholars in Somuli at a loss. If they knew Kyran could use lost technology, it would not only be the Nobles who would want a piece of him but also the Eidums, especially the Armakea.
Armakea is the nation the Eidums were at war. Apart from being known for their good relationship with the magical beast community, they were also known for claiming every lost technology as their property.
Apparently, one of their founders left an ancient text claiming that the lost technology- Array, was created by them, the Armakea. For this reason, they believed the Eidum's land was theirs because a very advanced lost technology was operating the borders.
"If you have time," Soria called out to Kyran. "Please teach me!"
At first, Kyran did not react. But then he raised his right arm and waved once, delighting Soria.
'He knows how to use lost technology and agreed to teach me!' She thought.
To be honest, Kyran's gesture could not be called an affirmation of her doubt. But Soria was convinced otherwise.
The manager assigned to recording the supplies was dumbfounded at the sheer amount Kyran had brought. He was not complaining, though. Though shocked beyond disbelief, he managed to pull himself together and immediately called over the others on duty.
The supplies Kyrana brought were almost a month's worth. It would take the manager a couple of days if he were the only one receiving and recording everything.
After that, Kyran teleported outside the HQ.
Kyran stood atop the edge of the chasm and looked at the other side.
Ordinary people would not be able to see anything from that position. Even those with powerful magic or even physique would not be able to see properly. At most, they would see a blur. And seeing a blur was rather pointless.
But Kyran was different. He had perfect vision even if he did not actively circulate the Draconic magic. Thus, he was able to see what the enemy side was doing.
At the moment, someone was giving out a speech.
As much as Kyran wanted to hear what was being said, his hearing was not that good. With an enhanced body, his hearing improved, but he could only hear things at a certain distance.
Kyran narrowed his eyes.
'The enemies are not gathering to start another raid, are they?' Kyran could not help but feel awe despite himself at how fast their enemies were able to recruit new people to become cannon fodders.
In any case, if the enemies dared to approach them, Kyran would gladly receive them. But if he kept appearing like this, it could backfire on the Eidums once he left.
Kyran observed the other side for a few more minutes, but the crowd dispersed after the speech.
Since the other side was not planning another raid, Kyran relaxed and finally reconnected with the old man. He summoned Gael and took the chance to hear what he had discovered.
Gael learned that the enemies had hired some people in Howling Pass to find the Abbot. However, none of the people in Howling Pass knew why. They also never planned to abduct or even kill the Abbot. When people from Armakea hired those in Howling Pass, they only asked them to find a way to isolate the Abbot. After that, a representative from Armakea would come and talk to him personally.
When the old man heard that, he was dumbfounded. He had no idea why the Armakeans would want to meet with him.
