Chapter 686 Finale (6)
Times like this always made Kyran feel helpless about his inability to create an essence. If he could create one or two, he would have fewer problems dealing with several things happening in different places simultaneously.
As Kyran thought this, a few familiar auras appeared outside the Regis Estate. Some were faint but a few were pretty close to his location. After that, a respectful yet enthusiastic voice sounded in his head.
[Master! We have come to see you!]
'Zephyr!' Kyran could not help but smile at Zephyr's timely arrival. His Sigil activated as well, making it easier for him to locate his exact position. 'Why are you outside the estate?'
As soon as the Sigil activated, Zephyr, Bas, and Mera received the full benefits of their being Sigils. The injuries and magic energies they were recovering from before the incident in Noser happened started to recover. It even felt like their mage level was given a sudden boost.
Kyran was surprised at how much these three were trying to suck on his abilities to replenish magic energy and heal as if they were people who had just tasted water after being deprived for so many years.
If not for Kyran's special body constitution and ability to absorb the magic energies in the surroundings with no regard to what type they were, Zephyr, Bas, and Mera would have already sucked him dry.
Kyran stopped short as he realized something. He frowned slightly as he counted the Sigils with Zephyr.
One. Two.
'Bas, and Mera?' Kyran also confirmed who they were, and his frown deepened.
Zephyr sounded uncharacteristically enthusiastic when he called out to him. Rather than enthusiastic, there was a sense of urgency and even relief from the former's voice. His exact words were also strange, as if they had appeared here solely because they wanted to see him.
'Where are Manti and Iss?' Kyran asked at once, not allowing Zephyr to answer the previous one.
A huge lump had begun to creep into Kyran's heart as he thought of why the two were not there. Nevertheless, he suppressed the thought because he did not want to jump to conclusions. Besides, although he could not see them, he knew they were still alive.
Sensing Kyran's apprehension, Zephyr immediately shook his head and replied reassuringly.
[Don't worry, master. I had them stay in Noser because of a sudden situation.]
Without waiting for Kyran to ask follow-up questions, Zephyr proceeded to tell him what had happened in Noser that prompted them to come to the Regis Estate.
During Zephyr's narration, he also confirmed they could not enter the Regis Estate through the other end of the transmission array in Noser because it had been destroyed.
Fortunately, Zephyr had another transmission scroll and used it instead.
When Zephyr used the transmission scroll, he had to think of his target location. However, he had not been to the Regis Estate. In the end, he could only use the memory he had of the Dragon plane, hoping the transmission scroll would use it as a reference to transport them to a place in the Human plane with the same 'wavelength.'
The Regis Terram.
After all, the transmission scroll did not have the capability to transport Zephyr, Bas, and Mera directly to the Dragon plane.
Zephyr did not know if it actually worked since they had not been transported to the Regis Terram. But since they appeared outside the Regis Estate, maybe it did work. The only reason they were not transported directly inside was that they were not allowed to enter it.
Frankly, Kyran had a different take on this matter. He believed the transmission scroll could really transport them to the Regis Terram. But because of the special condition of that place, instead of appearing inside, they could only appear outside.
Outside did not mean 'outside the estate' but 'outside the terram, which was within the Regis Estate's Inner Wall.
With this in mind, Ames's threat earlier crossed Kyran's mind. She likely prevented Zephyr, Bas, and Mera from appearing inside the estate's Inner Walls and was forced out of the Regis Estate completely.
Kyran did not know how Ames did it. But he was not keen on finding it out. He would rather use his brain cells to focus on Zephyr's shared situation.
When Kyran listened to Zephyr's narration, his expression gradually turned grim. He had thought Layla had almost exhausted her cards. To think she still had something like a Soul Link at her disposal.
The idea of a Soul Link was not the most surprising part. The most surprising part was Layla connected to these people at a very long distance.
Kyran also guessed Layla did not connect with the Archmagus alone. She likely connected with every person she marked and had them come to the Regis Estate.
Layla's move really took Kyran by surprise. Currently, he does not have a counter to it. Then again, how could he counter a plan he was unaware of?
'You're missing the point,' Kyran thought, scolding himself. 'Sometimes you can't read your opponent's next move in battle. When it happens, one of the best course of action is to stay calm and be alert. Only then can you come up with a solution on the spot.'
Knowing he did not have the leisure to understand Layla's thinking pattern in-depth, Kyran decided to focus on what he could do at present.
'What I can do is deal with the first wave of her forces that arrived outside the estate,' Kyran thought.
At the moment, Kyran believed Layla and even Obstruction had not made a major move after his father's arrival and the activation of the Grand Array because of the veil that enveloped the whole estate.
While the veil played a huge part in preventing hostiles from attacking because it stopped them from using magic, there were still ways to 'destroy' it.
Others might think it was impossible because how could one destroy it if they could not use their magic?
The answer to this was quite simple.
The effects of the veil were only limited inside its area of influence. If one wanted to destroy it, one only had to find where its main points were and destroy them from the outside.
With this in mind, Kyran devised a plan. Frankly, even he did not know where the main points of the veil were located. He could find them using his magic sense, but because of what happened with the Macabre Glacier, Kyran was a little reluctant to use it.
The truth, Kyran's magic sense was far more powerful when he used Void magic as its base. After all, Void magic could utilize any magic energies in the surroundings, which amplified it more than a hundredfold or so. On the other hand, Draconic magic only attracted the 'Draconinc' energy, which was also powerful but limited.
Kyran could limit the use of his magic sense within the border of the estate's Outer Walls. However, he was unsure if the Macabre Glacier would only make a move after his magic sense touched it directly or if it would as long as he used it.
If it was the former, Kyran could use his magic sense. But if it was the latter, he would only dig his grave, especially when True Void— the one who stopped the mirror from overwhelming Kyran and taking over him— was still transforming.
'If I can't use my magic sense, then I'll make full use of my Sigils,' Kyran decided as he looked at his Sigils' exact positions.
They were all hidden from the people moving about the Regis Estate's Outer Walls.
Since Kyran could not leave True Void while he was undergoing awakening, Zephyr, Bas, and Mera's arrival gave him more space to maneuver.
'Zephyr, locate all the transportation arrays these people used to come here and destroy them,' Kyran started to relay his orders.
[Yes, master.]
'Bas, Mera, you two circle the estate and find the Archmagus you fought in Noser. You don't have to worry about being at a disadvantage because of the level gap. As long as you are within the Sigil's area of effect, you'll be able to hold your own against her. Don't hold back and eliminate her as soon as possible.'
[Hiss...!]
[Rawrgh...!]
Bas and Mera responded with a hiss and a soft growl telepathically.
They left without further ado.
Though they had left, Kyran could sense their movements with the help of the Sigil.
Not long after they left, shouts of surprise, which were followed by explosions, could be heard beyond the high walls of the Regis Estate's Outer Walls.
Kyran did not tell Zephyr, Bas, and Mera to hide their presence simply because he wanted to draw Layla and her forces' attention to them.
They would serve as baits to lure out the two Archmagus.
Obviously, Kyran did not do this for no reason.
The main reason was quite simple.
It was so he could let his other Sigils move about undeterred.
That was right.
When Kyran sensed several familiar auras, he not only sensed Zephyr, Bas, and Mera!
'Byron, can you hear me?'
