Chapter 680 The Ultimate Weapon
Kyran chose not to respond because if he did, True Void was sure to prattle on until he was satisfied. Now that the latter was in a foul mood— to which Kyran think was justified— he no longer asked him to confirm the situation of their allies. Instead, he began to prepare the Key formula as instructed by his father.
In any case, confirming their allies' situation was only a precautionary measure. Kyran only wanted to be sure they did not encounter anything unexpected. Or had not been affected in any way when Obstruction tried to 'transport' the whole Regis Estate.
Then again, with his father's insight, Kyran believed nothing would escape his scrutiny. Besides, though he did not know how much improvement his father underwent after completing Azaloth's Inheritance, Kyran was sure his father not only improved his magic attainment, but also his insight.
[Oi? Are you even listening to me?]
True Void demanded after seeing Kyran had not paid much attention to what he said.
'Yes, I heard you the first time,' Kyran replied patiently. He was not idle when he responded to True Void. He surveyed the area tagged as I73 in the Regis Estate's map.
At the moment, Kyran was surrounded by houses. But none of these houses were occupied prior to the Royal Army's raid a few months ago. He remembered being told these houses were used to divert the focus of 'spies' who managed to enter the estate.
To be honest, Kyran did not believe this excuse. It was not because he did not believe these empty houses could divert the attention of 'spies' but because with the estate's tight security it was impossible for any spies to enter.
Would they still waste materials just to build these houses as diversion? Besides, how would these empty houses be used as diversions? That was something Kyran found strange.
But his doubts were answered when he met his father's essence in the Tower of Tribulations.
These houses were truly built as diversions. But Kyran should not look at their use at face value. Because these houses were built in a way that when one looked from above, they would realize they represented array formulas!
As a matter of fact, this was what Silas discovered the first time he infiltrated the Regis Estate to find the truth about Kyran's bounty request.
Silas found the formation of these houses to be interesting. However, due to his lack of Array knowledge, he did not recognized their formation as array formulas.
After Kyran finished looking at the houses, he jumped on top of the third tallest building that was six buildings away from where he was.
[What? Now you're planning to escape?]
True Void demanded as he followed Kyran.
'No. I have something to do,' Kyran replied patiently. He was not about to refute True Void for acting unreasonable. After all, he did not hear the conversation between Kyran and Cade.
Without further ado, Kyran sat cross-legged and began preparing the Key formula.
[What is so important that you have to brush off the fact my core reacted just now?]
'Activating the Grand Array,' Kyran responded matter-of-factly.
Although he was still responding to True Void, Kyran was already focused on the Key formula's preparation. He already sensed the surrounding houses shifted slightly from what he was doing.
[What could possibly be grander than my real body?]
True Void demanded yet again.
Kyran could not help but smile wryly at True Void's words. It seemed the latter had been too rattled about what happened to his core he failed to comprehend anything else.
'I'll be careful when using my magic so I won't accidentally hit your body,' Kyran assured True Void to appease him. Of course, he did not say that only to lift the latter's mood. He also meant it. After all, if he suddenly used his magic without thinking much of it, he might end up destroying a part of the Grand Array's array formation, which was hidden in the estate's Outer Wall.
As if Kyran's words were magic, True Void's mood did alleviate a little.
[You said it! You have to keep your promise! I will haunt you if you don't. Do you understand? I will hunt you! And I mean, I will really hunt you!]
This time around, Kyran no longer responded because he was already immersed in what he was doing.
While he drew the Key formula in his mind's eye, the houses close to him also shifted. It was as if there was an invisible hand that was moving the houses according to the formula Kyran thought of. But this hand was not plucking the houses. It was merely moving them like they had wheels attached beneath them.
A few seconds later, a twenty meter radius of pillar of light erupted from the ground as the last house moved to the last spot. It then curved to the left and went straight to the next point, which was in R10.
Meanwhile, Jared had just completed moving the last house when he saw a horizontal pillar of light coming toward his location.
When the pillar of light arrived, another twenty meter radius of pillar of light erupted from the ground. The two pillars then merged, before curving to Jared's left (the estate's right) and went to the next point, Alpha 37.
Cade, who had been standing on a similar building like Kyran and Jared with his eyes closed, finally opened them. He looked up ahead and not long after, he saw the incoming pillar of light.
A smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he thought to himself, 'Right on time. As expected.'
When the pillar of light was only thirty meters away, Cade spread out his arms and moved his fingers.
Without even trying to concentrate or think of the Key Formula, the houses around him also moved according to the movements of his fingers.
If an invisible hand seemed to have appeared to move around the houses in Kyran and Jared's side, Cade appeared to be a puppeteer that had attached invisible strings to the houses. With every movements of his finger, the houses would respond.
The ground around Cade lit up as a similar twenty meter radius pillar of light appeared and met with the incoming pillar of light. After the two merged, they curved to the right— which was also the map's right— and returned toward Kyran's position, I73.
Finally, after waiting for a while, the pillar of light merged at the end of the first.
Looking from above, after the pillar of lights connected these three points, a very precise triangle was formed.
After that, Cade's eyes glowed silver and he began to move his fingers as if he was playing on an unseen grand piano. The rest of the ground and houses that did not belong to the Key formulas shifted, soon they also lit up and a line of light appeared on the ground.
RUMBLE! RUMBLE!
Kyran looked at the ground around him and could not help but be shocked.
If his judgement was correct, then the Grand Array's array formation might occupy the whole Regis Estate's Outer Walls! It also meant that although most of the houses in the Outer Walls were occupied by a clan member or members, they were still part of the whole formation!
'Could the size of this array the reason it was called 'Grand Array'?' Kyran wondered.
[This…!]
Suddenly, True Void who had finally stopped talking exclaimed inwardly. But since he had been speaking telepathically with Kyran just now, he unknowingly shared his thoughts.
Even if True Void did not exclaim or shared his inner thoughts with Kyran, the latter would have already sensed something about the Grand Array the moment its formation reached a certain percentage of completion.
'Don't tell me… the Grand Array is…!'
At the same time, Obstruction, who had been preoccupied by the offensive array formation of the estate, also sensed the ground's sudden movement. Apart from this, he noticed some of the buildings nearby shifted.
He would not have paid much attention to it the buildings were simply 'moving.' However, a great amount of magic energy actually came out on the ground as soon as these buildings stopped at certain points.
It did not take long for Obstruction to realize he had been had.
When the voice he heard earlier declared the activation of a Grand Array and then these offensive arrays appeared in the sky, Obstruction was convinced it was the Grand Array. But comparing the amount of energy the offensive arrays possessed to the ones coming out of the ground, Obstruction was now convinced that the genuine Grand Array had not been activated— until now!
Crackle! Crackle!
Obstruction's countenance changed. The air around him crackled as his magic aura rose to an unbelievable level. Though he could not exert the level of a Sovereign, his aura was now comparable to that of a Sage!
Just when he was about to unleash another attack, an array appeared in the sky.
At the same time, True Void's body started to glow.
