Chapter 51 Center Of Attention
Chapter 51 Center Of Attention
A Perfect Array! How come this guy is going straight for his ultimate move?!? Not fair! William grumbled to himself. Any normal person would be terrified by the sudden turn of events, but William was unperturbed. He tried studying the Array, but there were many pieces he didn't understand.
The effects were much greater than from an Advanced Array. Even using his full strength, William couldn't move at all, and could barely think. He even felt his Mana slowly draining away to keep the Array functional. Without a doubt, these enemies were formidable.
The blue haired youth laughed at William's situation. "We did our research beforehand while you were off on your little trip. You're quite talented for your age. There's no way I'm letting an Array Master and a Quintuple Manamatus escape from me though." the young man finished with a smirk. Father was going to be impressed with his work today. He specifically reached out to his Uncle to prepare a trap for William.
William was confined by the Array and had no way to respond with his voice. If it was at the Advanced level, the Array might only be able to temporarily obstruct William's movements before he broke free.
The young man walked over to William and asked his Uncle to unseal William's voice. The experience seemed like karma after what William did to the bandits not long before.
"I want to know how you have that Space Ring on you." the young man pointed to a specific ring on William's finger. It was the same Space Ring he recovered from the corpse in the Livingwood Forest.
The question reminded William of where these enemies could have come from. The Rhio Family must have some involvement with that unknown old man whose corpse was discovered in the Livingwood Forest.
"Who's asking?" William stalled for time as he looked through the System panel.
The young man frowned. He gave William a swift punch to the gut, which would have made him double over if not for the Array. "It seems you don't know who you're talking to. I'm Peter, the next head of the Rhio Ancient Family, it'd be smart of you to show some respect."
"Never heard of you." William found what he was looking for. He calmly ordered the System in his head. 'Upgrade my Arrays Talent.'
Another punch was sent to William's stomach while the System notified him of the ongoing upgrade. A flood of information entered William's brain. Even with the Mind Talent awakened, the mass of knowledge instantly triggered a migraine.
He could still hear Peter Rhio talking to him about his family background, but his vision was blocked by thousands of images of Arrays and their formation. He closed his eyes to better absorb the information, which warranted another punch from the young man.
Peter's Uncle thought it was odd that William could move his eyes while confined by the Array, but shrugged it off. There was no way a child could break free from a Perfect Array, even if they had twenty years of practice.
Peter noticed his method of torture wasn't working on William. He couldn't unlock the Space Ring right now, unless William gave permission or he hired an Array Master of the Space Element.
Fowley was at Blue Moon City, but he was unlikely to help, and the next closest Space Array Master was in Heartsteel Village nearly half a continent away, so Peter decided he would torture William back at their family estate.
The young man stepped back with an annoyed look, "Since you won't talk I guess we will have to take you with us." he turned around dramatically and motioned to his Uncle.

William didn't wait for the old man to take action. With his improved knowledge of Arrays, he was able to identify the weak point of the Array and break free. Before the others had time to react, William had already made use of his Speed Talent and various elements to sprint away.
Peter's face darkened, "Didn't you say he couldn't escape your Array? Retrieve him now!"
The Array Master would normally be offended by such a rude remark from one of the younger generation, but Peter was an exception given his status in the family.
He adopted a somewhat respectful tone, "I'm just as confused as you are, I can only assume that the boy has been hiding his strength. No normal person can break out of a Perfect Array, we must be wary of his backer. How else could a boy of his talent survive thus far?"
Peter was furious, "We investigated thoroughly, there was no sign of a backer other than that old fart in the Guild. He's just a Commoner who got a bit lucky." Peter turned to the group behind him and ordered his bodyguards to chase after William. If I can't restrain him, I'll just have to beat him until he can no longer move.

William sped through the City, taking random turns in alleyways and side roads in an attempt to shake off his pursuers. Even at his speed, three figures had caught up in less than a minute and another pair were closing in quickly. They were probably all Golden Core Cultivators that excelled in speed.
The trio launched sword beams and fireballs while chasing William, forcing him to dodge left and right. A fireball the size of a car blew past his right shoulder, setting his sleeve on fire. Where are the City Guards now?!? How can you not act in a situation like this? William wailed in his mind.
Little did he know that the City Guards recognized the Rhio Family members and turned a blind eye to the chase. Blue Moon City could not compare to the wrath of the Rhio Family Head.
William dodged another fireball and cursed. He made a quick turn towards the nearby Guild Hall and entered the building. He flew directly towards the arena and stepped inside its Array. With his A-Rank Array Talent, William was able to discern the exact functions of the Array.
He adopted a confident stance and looked at the Rhio Family members outside the Arena, "Hey bozos! Why don't you come down here and fight me?"
The remark triggered rage in one of the Rhio Family members that had been chasing William the entire way. "You have some nerve to say that after running so far, boy. Let me teach you some manners." he jumped into the Arena and drew a greatsword of unknown origin from his back. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
William shrugged, "It's not my fault you're slow. Next time don't skip leg day."
The Rhio Family member didn't fully understand what William was talking about but it hurt his pride nonetheless. Goddard was an Elite member of the Rhio Family and was mostly known for his speed and his skill with the greatsword. Yet a boy in his twenties
with no cultivation was faster.
Hah! If the other Elite members heard of this, Goddard would be a laughingstock for the rest of his life. He motioned the others to step aside then charged at William with his greatsword raised high.
