Chapter 487 I Can Help
-Developed a new Magic Spell: +1 PP
-Name your new Spell.
William didn't have to think very hard about what to name the Spell, he didn't even need to pick a throwaway name as one immediately came to mind. Simply the spatial effects of the Earth Spell and the glimmering trail it left in its flight path told William exactly what it should be called.
He only wondered how long it would be until he could use it again, considering the level of Mana Control and density of Mana was required to fire it.
-New Spell: Comet Pellet
William ignored the System prompt and made the most effective use of the time-slowing bonus effect: collecting the loot. He allowed the spikes sent towards him earlier to continue, conjuring glass vials and using one large, horizontal portal to send all of the Solar Nectar from the Sun Stone Golem's joint to a second one in front of him. All of the Solar Nectar was gathered with not a single drop wasted, and the vials safely stored inside a Space Ring. Only then did William destroy the incoming spikes, thus ending the bonus effect.
He looked at the Sun Stone Golem that was now scattered in dozens of pieces on the ground. All four of the glass marble joints were broken and had separated the upper and lower arms from each other, and the same for the legs.
The upper thighs and shoulders detached on their own as well, but the System hadn't yet notified William of the Boss' death. It wouldn't grant him any Potential Points for Magical Beast kills in the Dungeon, but he would still refer to it to verify whether the Beast had actually died.
This wasn't the case, though. The Sun Stone Golem's vitality was a fraction of the original, but he could still sense a slight aura. It hadn't been eliminated yet, even after the Comet Pellet Spell.
The Sun Stone Golem's pieces shuddered and vibrated, as if a miniature earthquake had formed solely around the Boss. William tried to prepare another Comet Pellet, but the ambient Mana had been exhausted and would need quite some time to recover, possibly months.
What he could condense was hardly worth mentioning compared to the previous version of the Spell.
William switched focus, reopening the Domain of Fire and engulfing the Sun Stone Golem in fierce flames that reached to the ceiling of the Boss room. He continued pouring Mana into the Domain, then condensed it further and further until the Sun Stone Golem was like wood chips in a massive furnace.
Fifteen minutes later when the Sun Stone Golem's vitality had nearly disappeared, William retracted his Domain of Fire and looked at the wreckage.
To his surprise, the Sun Stone Golem was mostly unharmed, enshrouded in a dense orange forcefield that was almost as thick as the pillar of a marble temple. Its thickness prevented William from seeing too deep into the forcefield and turned the Sun Stone Golem into a hazy blur.
Did it use its vitality to power the forcefield? This is insane! William had to take multiple deep breaths before he made multiple bad decisions.
With how impossible it was to defeat a giant orange rock, William almost wanted to open up all of his Domains at once and swallow it whole. He could even use a Primary Law or two and probably wipe away both the forcefield and its remaining vitality all at once.
But William knew very well that it wouldn't be a good idea to do that. Alerting the third-year students that another powerful competitor had arrived was already a bad choice, but at least that William could deal with.
He could take advantage of the situation to secure more benefits, but what benefits could he secure if someone leagues ahead of his own Cultivation decided they wanted something from him?n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
It would be just like when William was a non-Cultivator in Blue Moon City and Sect Master Gu Dianlong from the Five Elements Sect saved him from a group from an Ancient Family. While his actions were probably swayed by Retribution and Tenebris, it was a prime example of just how little William could do to the truly powerful enemies.
Just because it happened in the Mortal Realms didn't mean that the Ascended Realms were any different. At all levels of Cultivation there was always someone wanting to establish dominance over another or use others to their own benefit.
William didn't want to be looped back into that endless cycle that he had escaped rather quickly. Instead, he planned to forge his own path.
But first I need to deal with that thing... William thought to himself as the Sun Stone Golem's forcefield became even denser than before, compressing its parts into a tiny protective ball that could withstand anything.
Masssster... maybe I can help? a familiar voice entered William's brain telepathically. Simultaneously, a previously invisible purple snake appeared on his shoulder and uncoiled itself slightly.
William hadn't forgotten about Atticus, but usually the Companion Beast remained silent unless William specifically asked for its help. Atticus had only just reached the Ascension Realm recently and didn't possess the Talents that William did.
An Initial Deity Realm Magical Beast was still a bit much for Atticus to deal with on his own. Perhaps that wasn't the case, though, considering Atticus was now able to talk to William mentally without the help of the System.
Despite its barely Ascension Realm Cultivation, it was just as fearless of the Sun Stone Golem as its Master. Atticus had fought many battles alongside William, and it learned firsthand that he never fought seriously against anyone or anything at the same Cultivation level as him.
If he did, it was because the number of enemies greatly exceeded the allies on his side. The Mythical Rat Snake cast the Territory of Illusion on itself and slithered through the Sun Stone Golem's protective forcefield as if it didn't exist, then wrapped itself around the Boss creature.
William watched as Atticus expanded dozens of times, its body pressing against the interior of the forcefield while its jaws unhinged. With one big gulp, Atticus consumed the entire Sun Stone Golem whole, its forcefield shattering in the process.
A much larger Atticus slowly floated over to William then spat out the Sun Stone Golem's body like it was a nasty piece of food. His tongue flicked in and out rapidly, as if trying to use the air to wipe off the taste of stone.
"Here, Massster."
"Why do you say it like that? You've grown so quickly, yet you still have a lisp?" William patted Atticus on the head while opening a smaller version of his Domain of Fire and casting it on the Sun Stone Golem.
"Hehe, I'm sstill working on it. It'ss hard to talk like thiss." Atticus reduced his size and slithered up William's shoulder, taking his usual place on William's shoulder and just beneath his forcefield. With another minor Illusion Spell, Atticus disappeared without another word.
William smiled and thanked Atticus through their mental connection. He gave up on trying to kill the Sun Stone Golem with the Fire Element and cast dozens of Spatial Slash Spells until the Boss was diced into thousands of pieces.
A System notification rang out after five minutes of continuous attacks.
-You've killed the Boss, finally.
What do you think?
