Chapter 167: Why don't you ask Hera?
Chapter 167: Why don't you ask Hera?
Promise ordered and the next moment, Hecate, who was still processing the situation, reflexively threw one of the potions in her hand toward Thetis.
As the latter, wide-eyed and confused, watched the potion fly toward her.
Meanwhile, Pegasus, who had just been groaning in supposed agony, had already leapt to his feet and bolted to a safer spot.
Well, this guy is clearly well-practiced in dodging danger.
The potion smashed against Thetis's arm, and its liquid splashed all over her.
Everything happened so quickly that when the potion flew in front of her, all Thetis could do was subconsciously stretch out her hand to block it as the broken potion spilt onto her.
However, given that this was one of the magic potions/concoctions prepared by Goddess Hecate, it wasted no time taking effect.
Soon, Goddess Thetis felt her body grow weak, and she slumped helplessly to the ground.
'Oh no, what am I doing?'
'What is this place?'
'Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing?'
As Hecate stood, tilting her head in deep thought about the philosophy of life, she suddenly heard Promise's enthusiastic voice.
"Nicely done, Goddess Hecate! Now, quickly, tie Goddess Thetis up before she causes any trouble!"
"Oh, right, I'll... wait a minute!" Hecate subconsciously took two steps further before her body froze mid-step and her face turned red with fury.
"Not right! What are you even talking about!?"
Unable to bear the ridiculousness any longer, Hecate's temper flared so much that even though she knew her next move was going to lead to even bigger trouble, and get her chased by Hera, Athena, Hades, the God of the Underworld and many more but she didn't care.
In a flash, she appeared beside Promise, who hadn't anticipated her sudden approach, then jumped up and delivered a magically enhanced punch to his head, sending him to the ground, cradling his head in pain.
"What are you doing, Promise?!" Hecate growled.
She was about to get angry and unleash her full fury on the boy, but as she lowered her head and looked into the Promise eyes, who was squatting with his head in his hands, she paused.
Because despite the pain, the seriousness in them caught her off guard.
Therefore, once Hecate looked into those emerald eyes, she feel into a brief moment of daze, then with a sigh of resignation, she turned around, and without further argument, bound Thetis with a spell.
After tying up Thetis, Hecate stood alone, leaning silently against a big tree not far away, her face lost in contemplation.
She was thinking about life.
'Maybe it's time to consider dragging this guy down with me and ending this madness once and for all.'
"Great goddess Hecate..." Thetis spoke softly, still weak from the potion's effects. "Alas everyone spoils you far too much."
Though, drugged and tied up, the goddess was weak and powerless, she wasn't really angry. She simply leaned against the Pegasus, who had calmly returned to her side, looked at the young man in front of her, who had obviously made up his mind, and smiled weakly. Hecate, now staring at the sky with a blank expression, opened her mouth as if to protest. She wanted to declare that she did not spoil this guy.
In fact, she could even be said to be irreconcilable with him!Nôv(el)B\\jnn
But given the current situation, her words would hold no weight, so, with a defeated sigh, Hecate closed her eyes, pretending to sleep to avoid the embarrassment.
"I'm sorry, Goddess Thetis..."
Promise said as he looked at the tied up and weak goddess of the sea in front of him...
She was Thetis, the sage of the sea, who was recognized as the most virtuous goddess among the gods.
Her beauty, as acknowledged by all, was undeniable.
On should know that, in Greek mythology, it wasn't just Zeus, the king of gods, who pursued her.
But the god of sea, Poseidon, the god of light, Apollo, and even Hermes had launched a fierce pursuit of Thetis.
If this were not the case, Zeus would not have issued a death order, forcing everyone not to touch Thetis, and even ask the gods to swear an oath to this end.
So, now, as Promise gazed at her, with her elegant figure restrained by magical chains, her body limp from the potion, resting against the snowy white Pegasus, the goddess still smiled warmly, her gentle blue eyes meeting his.
Even in this vulnerable state, her charm was overpowering.
So much that despite having long built up a resistance to the allure of goddesses, at this moment, Promise found himself gulping.
Awkwardly, he shifted his gaze away, however, unfortunately, his eyes locked with Hecate's instead.
And the goddess' crimson eyes were filled with clear disdain as she looked at him.
"So, the reason you summoned me this time... was to help you capture Thetis?" Hecate crossed her arms over her chest and rolled her eyes, saying, "Was all this necessary? You could've just asked Hera. Doesn't she still owe you a marriage? If you like her so much, why don't you just ask Hera to marry her off to you?"
Hearing all this, before the boy could respond, Thetis spoke up.
"Oh? So, Promise, you like me?" Thetis said, looking at him with a soft, shy smile. "If it's
you... I think I could consider it."
"That's not it! You misunderstood, Goddess Thetis!"
Promise quickly tried to explain, but...
"So, does it mean that you don't like me? Am I really so unlikable?" Thetis pouted, her eyes growing sad, as if deeply hurt. "I suppose it makes sense. After all, you bullied me and tied me
up."
Her pitiful expression left Promise speechless.
However, his earlier nervousness melted into a flat, unimpressed stare as he addressed her, "Respected Thetis, are you sure you're not just Goddess Hestia in disguise right now?"
Giggling softly, Thetis replied in a playful tone, "Oh, Promise, what are you talking about? I don't understand~~"
Hecate's expression grew more bewildered as she watched.
Looking at Thetis, who seemed like a different person in front of Promise, and then looking at
the boy again...
Of course she recognized Thetis, the sage of the sea, known as the most virtuous goddess, who carried herself with grace and wisdom.
The Thetis she knew was an object of desire for countless gods, admired for her beauty and
virtue.
If it weren't for her noble status and her father being the elder among the sea gods, the first
true sea god in ancient Greek mythology,
How could Thetis remain pure until now?
Considering the attention she garnered, it was quite a miracle.
So, were her status and background, her only shields in such a dangerous world?
In other words, it could be understood this way.
There were only two types of goddesses, who were able to survive in the ancient Greek Age of
Gods and remain pure.
Either they were so ugly that no one wanted them, or they were strong enough and had a
noble status no one dare to offend.
Not considering the special cases of the three virgin goddesses Athena, Artemis and Hestia, the best reference was undoubtedly the great goddess Hecate, who has been repeatedly pulled out to work by Promise.
This goddess had managed to retain her autonomy by virtue of her strength and status.
Those who were both powerful and privileged enough could maintain their purity, but it was
a rare occurrence.
At the same time, because of this, Hecate understood how special Thetis' attitude towards
the boy was.
It was one thing to feel comfortable with someone and one thing to feel extremely so.
The way she acted around Promise was too different from her usual self.
Hm... this was quite a mystery worth thinking.
'No why is it worth thinking?'
'What does this have anything to do with me?'
'Obviously, there is no connection at all! So, why should I care?
