Chapter 91 Black And The Hat
Crackle.
Red shards flew apart, flying in front of Zayne's blue eyes, which were aimed at Enar.
"I'm sorry I broke it, I just couldn't listen to it anymore. I hope you're not mad at me." Zayne stared at Enar as he opened his fist, red dust falling from it.
Enar shrugged, "Nah, it's no problem, I'm glad it worked out that way. I would have done it myself, but then I would have had to write a report. It turns out I'm grateful to you, right? How unusual..." Enar scratched his cheek in confusion.
Zayne cast his gaze over the entire battlefield, and his face grew darker. All of his allies were unconscious and near death. Elin was the only one left, but without her arm, she couldn't do anything, though that wasn't the main deterrent.
'Agh... It feels like looking at myself during my first battle...' Zayne muttered inwardly, looking at Elin, who was trembling with fear, and tears flowed from her eyes. After Roland fell, she realized it was over, no one could save them.
"Boy, I honestly didn't expect you to be the last one left standing. I'm impressed, though, something still bothers me, I don't understand why Fate turned its sight on you." Enar spoke in a deep voice.
"Enough talk. Let's fight! Only one will win, and I'll do anything to stay last!" Zayne said confidently as he prepared for battle, gripping his sword tightly.
Enar stared at Zayne for a moment, then his body was covered in a torrent of flame in which he disappeared. Zayne became wary, but as he blinked, Enar was right in front of him with the dangerous glint of his blades.
Zayne was about to attack immediately, but before he move, he felt the cold metal of Enar's blades, which clutched like scissors at his neck. All Enar had to do was move his hands slightly to cut off Zayne's head.
"No way..." Zayne gulped.
"Before I finish, let me ask you one question..." Enar calmly said staring intently into Zayne's eyes, "In all this fighting, that's the only thing I'm really interested in."
Zayne didn't answer anything, he was in a panic, trying to think of a plan of action, he had to get out of his situation somehow.
"Why did you come here? What are you hoping for? I thought your name was Zayne... Now, Zayne, do you realize that this death will not be ordinary? You may be a Traveler... but I can take everything you have from you in the name of Chaos..." Enar whispered as his blades lit up in red flames.
Enar's fire could melt even Roland's thick armor, but there was no heat coming from this fire. It was the flame that pierced Zayne's mind, forming the silhouette of the crimson eye while Enar's words were repeated, over and over again.
'No... If he kills me, will I lose everything...? Is it possible? What's the point then... No, it can't be true!' Zayne inwardly shouted as his eyes went wide.
Zayne remembered what happened after his first death. Though Chaos Hearth had long since disappeared back then, small bits of Chaos had prevented him from being reborn.
'Wait... He's not lying... Chaos can affect rebirth just as much as increase the punishment for death... If the Apostles are directly connected to Chaos, his words might be true...' Zayne internally muttered as he got goosebumps.
He couldn't quit, and he couldn't ditch his friends... He couldn't do anything, there was no way out of this situation.
"Hey, will you answer it? You can do this little request, I don't ask for much." Enar said calmly.
Whooooooooooooooooooosh.
As if for the first time, Zayne ran away with his eyes wide open while fear consumed him. He ran to where he was looking, not understanding anything at all, Zayne was completely lost.
"I see... After all, you're just an ordinary kid, though quite talented. There's nothing wrong with being scared, I don't know if Fate is watching you now, but you weren't supposed to be here. Maybe if you had gone through more hardships in this world, you'd be a worthy adversary, but right now... Let's just get this over with." Enar took a deep breath and stepped forward.
Step. Step. Step.
Enar was slowly approaching Zayne, who was desperately trying to escape him. Zayne didn't realize it, but he was having a real panic attack, all he wanted now was to get out of there and forget about it.
"You have nowhere to run... Just stop." Enar said quietly while every step he took echoed through the cave, increasing Zayne's fear.
"NO! Get away from me! Don't you dare touch me!!!" Zayne cried out fearfully as he glanced at Enar.
Crackle.
Zayne tripped over a rock and fell, rolling over the ground. He tried to get up, but as soon as he looked at Enar, whose silhouette was covered in darkness with burning eyes, his legs went numb, and his whole body seemed to be shackled by invisible chains.
'Zayne... Run!' Elin shouted, or so she thought, because she didn't have the strength to do so, she could only tremble like him.
Step. Step. Step.
Enar inevitably approached as his silhouette grew larger while Zayne's eyes trembled.
'Hey... Why are you running away?' Suddenly came a calm voice that sounded as if it had long since learned all the secrets of the world.
'Tsk, you fucking coward! Rark! What a shame this is! Get up quick!' Another voice appeared, angry and menacing, but for some reason very familiar to Zayne.
Zayne turned around, and his pupils narrowed. In front of him, he saw the Black Wolf, the same one, but it was several times larger, like the image of some ancient creature.
'What the hell...? What are you doing here...? No, how is any of this possible...?' Zayne muttered, looking at the Black Wolf and at Gael, who was sitting off to the side.
Gael's ghost-like silhouette was imprecise, but his blue eyes and the hat he held lightly were accurate and flawless.
'Isn't it obvious? We just can't let you lose because of fear.' Gael said calmly, 'You still don't seem to understand anything.'
'Idiot!' Black Wolf exclaimed sternly, 'Why are you running?!'
'I'M SCARED!!! What the fuck am I supposed to do?! Unlike last time, I can't win!' Zayne shouted so loudly that his throat went up in flames.
'Pfff.' Black Wolf snorted, "Hey, I don't think you understand why you're scared at all. Answer me then, why were you afraid? Was it all because of my fangs that dug into your flesh? Hah, I'll never believe it! You were scared because you were fearful that it was a failure, weren't you?'
'Failure...? Zayne muttered in confusion.
'Yeah...' The Black Wolf grinned widely, 'Deep down you knew it was your only chance. Otherwise... how will you save your sister?'
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ Zayne's eyes went wide as the fear within him began to take on a strange metamorphosis. He wasn't afraid of anyone in particular, he was afraid that if he failed, it would lead to his sister's death, which would be his fault alone.
'Fine, now I see the same fire in your eyes as when we first met...' Gael muttered standing in front of Zayne, 'Do you remember what I told you? Words won't help, you need action.'
'But... What I need to do...? I can't beat him! Zayne shouted.
'Is that so? You seem to have completely forgotten that Fate has turned its eyes on you. Aren't you ready to use everything you've got?' Gael said calmly, and Zayne's ring glowed.
A white coin with a blue sword appeared in his hand.
'Use our powers as well as your own.' Gael and Black Wolf said simultaneously.
