Chapter 291 - Only One Way to Be Sure (1)
Feng Tianyi had given his word to the empress that he would never disclose the special medical condition her twins had. He seemed calm as he followed her to the twins's room and tucked them in their own beds, bidding them good night. He leaned on the doorframe for support as he watched them converse lowly with each other.
He'd looked at Tang Moyu for a long moment, his eyes never leaving her, not even for a second.
He should have figured that she was the woman he'd been looking for. The clues were fairly obvious. The timeline between the twins' conception and the time he was in Shenzhen should have been a huge giveaway when she told him that they were the result of a one night stand with a stranger. Why did he think that such coincidence is common?
Though Tang Moyu hadn't told him much about the father of her twins, and he'd never questioned her regarding the matter, it was just too much of a coincidence that he was in Shenzhen a month before her rift with Feng Tianhua, breaking their betrothal effectively.
Feng Tianyi wasn't sure how Tang Moyu would take the truth if he revealed that he might be the man who'd taken her innocence five years ago. However, the thought that she'd been his even before he actually knew who she was made him feel warm inside.
Still, how would he be able to explain this to her and her little buns without freaking them out? Knowing the empress, Tang Moyu wouldn't easily believe his claim, not unless he showed proof of his paternity of her little buns.
The golden blood…
Within the country, Feng Tianyi knew that the golden blood ran in the Song family, his maternal family. It was a family secret they'd been keeping for generations. In fact, only a few family members had inherited such blood and it usually skipped a generation or two.
However, coincidentally, he and Song Fengyan were born a year apart with the same blood type. And Feng Tianyi, who hadn't expected to have children of his own because of his horrific experience with his father, found himself at loss.
Not only did he not expect having children in this lifetime, but he also didn't expect to pass the cursed blood that almost took his life. If the accident wasn't enough to kill him, Feng Tianyi was sure that his blood loss would be able to.
Tang Moyu had told him that she and Xiao Bao went to Switzerland two years ago due to an accident that required the boy to receive a blood transfusion.
Wasn't it around the same time he was waiting for his last surgery on his pelvic to commence but was slightly delayed because another patient had requested for the same blood type?
Song Fengyan had donated his blood, but it wasn't enough to be used for his surgery, so he and his mother had sought to secure a few blood bags of the same type.
However, they were told that there was another patient that needed the blood immediately. A two year old boy from America had arrived for the same blood. In the end, Feng Tianyi gave way and let the other patient have the blood he also needed, not knowing that the same boy was Tang Moyu's own son.
Feng Tianyi couldn't believe that he missed such a rare encounter. The almost meeting with the empress was so close, yet so far. However, he knew that it wasn't the right time for them to meet. His pride wouldn't have allowed Tang Moyu to see him in the horrible state he was in.
"Aren't you heading to bed yourself?" Tang Moyu appeared in front of him, intending to leave the twins' room.
Feng Tianyi stepped aside and gave way for her, before following her lead outside.
"I'm just making sure that they are asleep and well." A hand reaching out to pat her head, earning a scowl from the empress.
"Tianyi, I'm not a child." She lightly slapped his hand away from her head. Although she was pleased with the change in their relationship, Tang Moyu still found it difficult to respond to his advances because she didn't know how to.
Now was no exception, but she had to admit that she was comfortable being with him.?Something that she'd never felt with any other man.
"Indeed, you aren't." The devil's eyes looked at her with interest. "I assure you, you aren't a child in my eyes." He added.
If the twins were really his, she was definitely that woman who seduced him on his own bed. That same woman who left him paper bills, treating him as if he was some kind of escort that served her that night.
Who would have thought that it was the empress herself?
A beast, huh? Feng Tianyi chuckled inwardly as he remembered how Tang Moyu reacted the last time Li Meili put her in the hot seat. The empress had no idea that the beast she was talking about was right in front of her.
But knowing that because of that fateful night, Tang Moyu's life started to fall apart, he wasn't sure if she would be alright once he revealed the truth to her.
Feng Tianyi partly blamed himself as he was the one who subjected her to such a situation that led her to lose everything, even though he wasn't aware of it. However, if that never happened, then she wouldn't be able to give birth to her twins and he wouldn't be able to reunite with her without the help of her children.
Tang Moyu gave him a pointed look before shaking her head in exasperation.
There was no helping it whenever he was like this. She'd never assumed that the polite and respectful author she had welcomed to her home had a flirty and shameless side that he only showed in her presence.
She tightened her robe around her, intending to return to her own bedroom to sleep early. She was planning to review that report her assistant had sent her tonight, but at Feng Tianyi's insistence, she supposed it could wait until morning.
"Then I'm going first. I'll see you tomorrow morning." She said without giving him a chance to respond.
