Chapter 286 - I’ve Already Fallen Hard for You (2)
When Tang Moyu and Feng Tianyi arrived at the main house, they were just in time as the rain started to pour without warning, drenching everything within the city in its wake. It would give its residents a temporary relief from the hot weather they had to endure throughout the day while enjoying a slightly cool night as they slept.
The devil found himself perplexed at the foot of the stairs as Tang Moyu stood next to him.
"I'm sorry. There's no elevator here. We don't have any choice but to use the stairs." She told him, gauging his expression.
Feng Tianyi shook his head and put the brakes on his wheelchair before allowing Tang Moyu to help him stand up, his right hand holding on to the banister of the stairway for support.
"It's alright, Moyu. I think I can manage with your help." He said as he looked up, gauging the distance he needed to face to reach the top. He should be able to reach it with Tang Moyu's assistance.
"Alright. Wait here and I'll bring your wheelchair upstairs, so I don't need to come down again." Tang Moyu replied before disassembling his wheelchair, folding it up and bringing it up stairs, careful with her steps so she wouldn't fall.
She came back down the stairs and guided Feng Tianyi, one step at a time.
"Moyu, I won't fall. Stop worrying too much." Feng Tianyi said as he heaved for breath when they reached halfway through the stairs.
"I'm not going to fall and roll down the stairs." His eyes flashed with mischief as he leaned closer to her ear. "But I've already fallen hard for you."
Tang Moyu scoffed and tightened her hold on him. She was itching to hit his head hard. How can he still have time to flirt around when they'd been stuck on the stairs for a few minutes now?
"Who said I'm worried?" She threw a glare at him. "You better focus before I kick you down the stairs." She warned him.
Feng Tianyi laughed and slowly lifted his right leg to make another step.
"But dear, I'd rather fall with you on your bed. That sounds more enticing than rolling down the stairs like an idiot."
Tang Moyu felt her blood pressure rising. Couldn't he choose a better place to flirt than on stairs?
"Tianyi. You idiot. Don't blame me if you miss a step and slip down!" She could feel a vein in her head ready to pop at any given moment.
"Alright. Alright. My fault. I'm an idiot. Your idiot." He grumbled before pulling his weight with him as they slowly ascended the stairs.
It took several minutes for them to reach the top and Feng Tianyi was left panting for breath. Darn it. He was just taking the steps upstairs but his whole body felt like it had just finished a rigorous workout. His leg muscles and pelvic were aching.
"Are you alright? Did you bring your pain medications with you?" The empress asked once she noticed that his face had lost its colors and he was panting for breath. She immediately assembled his wheelchair and allowed him to sit down.
"Yes, I have them. But there's no need for that, just give me some time to catch my breath. I don't want the twins to get worried over me." Feng Tianyi immediately felt relieved the moment he sat down. He couldn't believe that it was enough to cause him to break into sweat.
Ah, so much for getting a shower before coming here. He should have known that his body was still slowly recovering its previous strength lost after the accident.
"I'll work on getting someone to build a lift in here. That's better than seeing you like this or the twins tumbling down the stairs." Tang Moyu said as she waited for him to recover.
Although the stairs were wide and the steps weren't too steep, Tang Moyu knew that stairs and hyperactive toddlers were never a perfect match. She would rather be sure than to place her twins in a precarious situation. At least with the lift, her little buns wouldn't really need an a.d.u.l.t supervision to use it.
"Come on, they've already waited for too long. They wouldn't think that you are trying to monopolize me, right?" The devil asked with a grin, earning a pointed glare from the empress. Ah, she was really cute whenever she was annoyed. Feng Tianyi just couldn't help but tease her.
Tang Moyu sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose before wheeling him towards Little Star and Xiao Bao's room. She turned the doorknob, pushed the door open and allowed Feng Tianyi to enter the room.
"Daddy!" The Tang twins yelled at the same time, which made the empress wince from the loudness of their voice.
Little Star, who had yet to leave her room, smiled once she saw their Daddy Ji arrived with their mommy. Even Xiao Bao abandoned the toys he was playing on the floor and sprinted towards Feng Tianyi. He climbed on his l.a.p and wrapped his small chubby arms around his neck for a hug.
Feng Tianyi smiled and ruffled the boy's hair in greeting before looking at the little girl lying on her bed. He wheeled himself and Xiao Bao towards her bed and placed a hand on her forehead to check if she still had a fever.
"Little Star, Daddy came to visit you. How's my cute little peanut?" He asked, not noticing the amus.e.m.e.nt in Tang Moyu's eyes as she sat behind her work table, watching the three of them.
She appreciated how Feng Tianyi never ignored her children and loved them like they were his. She was briefly reminded of a quote she read somewhere.
"A daughter needs a dad to be the standard against which she will judge all men," and "Dad is a daughter's first love." Perhaps Little Star had found her father figure in Feng Tianyi.
