Chapter 283 - Precious Little Buns (2)
Chapter 283 - Precious Little Buns (2)
When Feng Tianyi, together with Song Fengyan arrived at the hospital with Xiao Bao, they waited for two hours at the waiting area before they were allowed to see the patient.
Little Star was placed in a private room. They found Tang Moyu seated next to Little Star's bed as the little girl was still unconscious and connected to an apparatus to assist her breathing.
For the first time, Feng Tianyi could see lifelessness and helplessness in the empress's eyes. Her hand was holding her daughter's hand in a tight grasp, refusing to leave her alone. This was one of the rare times she hoped she could do more for her daughter and Baobao.
Unlike her twin brother, who was born healthy even though they were lacking a few weeks in gestation, Little Star was underweight and her lungs didn't fully develop while growing inside Tang Moyu's w.o.m.b, causing scarring on her lungs, leading to Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, a condition that her daughter still had today.
Babies with this disorder heal and grow at different rates. The doctors had told her that there's still a possibility for Little Star to recover and live as a normal child like other children, as most of them get better over time.
However, it seemed to be worse for Little Star, the episodes persisted, leaving Tang Moyu on the edge whenever her daughter got sick. If only it was just that illness that made her child suffer.
Both of the Tang twins had a special medical condition that she'd been keeping from everyone else. So far, only Li Meili was aware of it since she accidentally read Xiao Bao's medical file due to her carelessness when exhaustion caught up to her.
It turned out that her twins had inherited a rare blood type from their unknown father.
A golden blood, one of the rarest types in the world.
Of all the things that they could inherit, why did it have to be something as rare as that? It was so rare that only less than a hundred people had it on the entire planet.
Tang Moyu doubted the accuracy of the numbers. Maybe there was someone like her, who'd been keeping this secret about her twins' blood type to protect them from those who would attempt to use them. After all, the blood type Xiao Bao and Little Star had was considered as a new universal blood for anyone with rare blood types.
This also made their blood highly prized by doctors. However, it could be very dangerous for Xiao Bao and Little Star in times when they need blood transfusion due to the lack of available donors.
The last time Xiao Bao got into an accident and needed a blood transfusion, Tang Moyu had to fly with her son to Switzerland to get the blood he needed. The cost left a massive dent on her personal account to the point that she had to accept multiple requests for her professional services from prominent companies in Europe in order to cover that dent.
This kind of blood type runs in the family, so if things turned to worse, she would eventually have to find the twins' father and ask for a favor.
Until then, Tang Moyu needed to work hard and raise funds to make sure that she would be able to purchase blood bags that contained the same blood type as her children's. She didn't care how hard she needed to work, as long as she could assure that she would be able to provide for them.
This was why her fear was so great whenever her children were hurt. She had to make sure no doctors or any other people would find out about the rare blood type her children had. Anyway, they needed an intensive test to prove it. A simple blood test may show an anomaly in their blood, but wouldn't be identified unless more tests were conducted.
"Moyu? How's Little Star?" Feng Tianyi touched her shoulder, trying to get her attention.
It was only then that the empress snapped back to reality and saw Feng Tianyi standing behind her and Xiao Bao clinging on her.
"Mommy?" His obsidian eyes were filled with worry over his twin sister. "Is Little Star alright, Mommy?"
Tang Moyu hoisted up her son and placed him on her l.a.p.
"She's fine now, Baobao. You did well, darling." She kissed his forehead. "You made it in time and saved your sister."
"I did?" Xiao Bao blinked, not sure if he truly did something good for his sister despite him being almost too late. He shouldn't have left her alone to play with their classmates unsupervised.
He shouldn't have forgotten their Mommy's words. He should never leave Little Star on her own. He buried his face on his mommy's c.h.e.s.t. Xiao Bao promised right then to become a better brother to Little Star. No matter how many times they argued over trivial matters, Little Star was still his one and only twin.
"En. So don't worry anymore, darling. Little Star just needs to rest and she will be coming home with us soon."
Tang Moyu ran her fingers over her son's thick hair while Feng Tianyi and Song Fengyan took a seat across her, on the other side of Little Star's bed. The devil felt relieved seeing that the little girl would be fine and only needed a rest.
Although there was something that felt off with Tang Moyu. He could tell that she was keeping something from Xiao Bao and him. As to what it was, perhaps it was something related to Little Star's condition.
Was it because she didn't want them to worry? It made sense. That would be something she would do to protect her loved ones.
He now understood why Tang Beixuan hated this trait of his sister's. Her stubbornness against seeking help was frustrating at times. He wouldn't force her to spill whatever it was, but he hoped that she would trust him enough to look after her and her little buns.
Feng Tianyi looked at her with sadness in his eyes. He still wasn't strong enough for her to be able to rely on him.
