Chapter 269: Lamia (1)
Chapter 269: Lamia (1)
"Let's go, boys!" Alex selected a few individuals to follow him. Each of them was armed with a Thunderbolt Rifle, which indirectly making this task easier to accomplish.
As for Satella, she's fitting the Anti-Materiel magazine into the sniper rifle at her casual pace. The attachment on this sniper rifle differed from the Lunacy AMR given to her by Zhang Qin Feng.
After getting a substantial upgrade from one version to another, this was the latest version created using the best material the Heavy-Engineering Department could produce for now.
Since it was counted as one of Satella's favorite weaponry, Zhang Qin Feng gave the right to name it to Satella.
"Raven," that was the name Satella chosen for this sniper rifle.
…
"Vice-Boss, we're ready," Alex delivered his report through the Luna Device on his wrist.
"Let us get started." Satella chuckled after hearing what Alex said. Her idle hand pulled the pin for the sniper rifle to make sure a bullet was ready within the chamber.
Although it was a sniper rifle, it doesn't seem to have a requirement on how it was positioned. Instead, there's a piece of glass display eyewear on Satella's view, which clearly shows where her crosshair is pointed at.
From what Victor said, the accuracy of this Glass-Display reaches 98%. Unless a particular factor like electronic disruption, this supporting piece would be working without failure.
*BANG!*
Satella's shot split apart the air as it went and planted into the chest of a Tyrant-Type before it could react. It happened so suddenly, to the point the other Tyrant-Types were unable to respond before the second shot was fired.
*BANG!*
The second shot took out one of the Tyrant-Type. But it was far from dying because the body was still twitching and resisting even with a destroyed head. It was evident that the head is not considered a fatal would for this new Tyrant-Type.
But these slight disturbance was all Alex needed to secure the survivor's safety. The group of twenty or so people was escorted through the barricaded passage using the MCC's deployable walls before it was retracted.
The overall process was smooth like they've been repeating the same practice over and over again.
After ensuring that the walls were back to their position, the soldiers continued with a barrage of indiscriminating attacks towards the zombies. This was for the sake of disturbing the zombie's concentration from what they're doing. It would also adjust their attention to the dead bodies on the ground.
One of the Electronic Recycling Hub survivors taught them this method to control the zombie's aggression. And it was proven to be helpful in certain situations, such as right now.
The aggression that was now scattered allowed them to control the zombie much better. And after a while, they're back to their usual self.
Meanwhile, Satella and the others are currently checking on the survivors to make sure nobody is infected. Even if a survivor or two were infected, Zhang Qin Feng has plenty of Decrystalization Serum prepared to prevent the infection from spreading.
The only thing that would be unfortunate is if the infection passed the curing stage.
But getting into that situation is likely impossible because one would be losing control over movement when the virus spreads to an incurable stage.
After going through all the security processes, food was distributed to the survivors to replenish their strength. As for those exhausted survivors, they're given a temporary place to stay outside of the MCC.
"Have all of you rested well?" Zhang Qin Feng asked when he came to the frontline to check on their progress. His arrival stunned the twenty-three survivors as nobody would have thought that they'd be seeing a base leader out here.
From what they assumed, a base leader would always make sure to hide in his base for his own safety. Unless needed, they would instead rely on their subordinates to deliver their order all over his territory.
This made the control over the base a mess due to the leader's absence.
But this is not the case for the Wind Base under Zhang Qin Feng. Although the control over the base's operation is still reliant on the department head themselves, it seems that their loyalty towards Zhang Qin Feng is relatively stable.
It was different from the other base where everyone was scheming on how to replace the boss as the Base Leader.
"We're… Thankful for your help. Please let us know if there's anything you need from us. As long we can do it, we will try to give a hand to repay the favor we've been given." a slightly more experienced survivor said.
Judging from his look, Zhang Qin Feng could guess that this survivor should have lived out here much longer than Satella did. This means he might know more about this place compared to Satella and the others.
"I believe there will be somewhere you could be helpful. If you're willing to share with me, can I ask where did all of you come from? Also, what is the situation with Turbine Town right now?" Zhang Qin Feng asked.
For Zhang Qin Feng now, nothing was more precious than his time because he had another world to get back to. He's been here for about half a month now. If he takes any longer to return, it would definitely cause some inconvenience to him in the modern world. He would prefer to drop all the pretense and talk about relevant topics now.
"Of course. My knowledge about Turbine Town might be limited, but I can assume that I know more than the others."
"To make it simple, I would say that Turbine Town is currently preparing to welcome a new lord. The locals here addressed the monster as (Lamia)." said the survivor.
"Lamia? Was it because the monster has an appearance of a black snake?" Zhang Qin Feng asked. This made him remembered something not long ago when he came to this place with Satella.
When they're about to fall to the hand of a Tyrant, it is also a snake-like creature that saved them by devouring the dying Tyrant.
And by putting this fact and the reason the new Tyrant-Type resembles Satella, he could roughly guess what actually happened here.
