Chapter 250: Mobile Command Center (1)
Chapter 250: Mobile Command Center (1)
"What? But how?" Zhang Qin Feng blankly stares at everyone like he just noticed that he was worried for nothing. He thought he's been hiding it quite well from everyone here.
Except for Satella, he never told anyone about that before.
"Boss… Everything on you does not click with what we have. We knew that you have your own circumstances, so we didn't go ahead and ask you to be honest with us." said Victor. As the person handling Zhang Qin Feng's inventory, he would be the first to notice Zhang Qin Feng's origin.
Because right now, gold was the cheapest and most useless metal in this post-apocalypse. With technological advancement, even the most straightforward electronic chip uses silicon, resin, and a mixture of other elements to conduct electricity. Gold, Silver, and Copper are no longer their optimal choice.
Furthermore, as the one handling the good Zhang Qin Feng brought from the modern world, it was filled with unknown production factories and descriptions. This further explains the fact that what Zhang Qin Feng had was not from their world.
Of course, the most evident proof came from his blood. And this part is where Valerian was the one who knew more about it.
Unlike everyone else here, Zhang Qin Feng's blood was like a pure serum catalyst. It reacted much better than any of the catalyst replacements they produced and work without side effects.
Even the dullest one amongst them, Marvin, knew about this based on the relics he's been bringing over here for him to tinker and upgrade.
Zhang Qin Feng was speechless when everyone nodded at him that they knew his identity from the start. He was both confused and perplexed by their decision not to expose his secret and remain faithfully by his side.
"If you all know, why would you still stay with me here and willingly follow my absurdity?" Zhang Qin Feng couldn't process their thought. He knew that loyalty was a fragile thing. In this post-apocalypse, everyone is struggling to stay alive for another day.
If he were honest with himself, loyalty means nothing here, as long one can survive for a minute longer than the others.
"It's because you're someone we can rely on and dependable. Do you think we're like Satella and Valerian that stick with you because you're good-looking?" Miria said. Her offensive-speaking manner is still around like before.
"Boss… No matter what happened… We're here with you. Trust us." Victor, Marvin, and Valerian said. As for Satella, her gaze is at Zhang Qin Feng from the start until now, unfazed, unmoved, and undisturbed.
"Thank you," not knowing what else can he say, Zhang Qin Feng, bowed at them. For the first time, he felt that he has trustable friends here in this post-apocalypse. Putting Satella aside, he had no idea that everyone else in this room was the same.
"Alright. Since there's no secret between us anymore, I hope we'll continue to be together and live through this. Let's start the talk about the motorway leading to Turbine Town." said Zhang Qin Feng.
Everyone's expression gets serious the moment the topic returned to what was necessary at this moment. Since each one here has a department to take care of, they knew what is going on right now outside of the Wind Base.
The number of zombies is starting to decrease, and it was a bad omen. From all the experience in dealing with the zombies, there are only one to two possibilities.
First, a Tyrant has appeared. On this scale, maybe not just one, but more. And because they're unable to smoothly get to the Turbine Town to check on the shelter's condition, this causes them to have a delay in delivering the latest intel regarding what is going on there.
Hence, Satella, Alex, Queenie, and Shaun were putting effort into clearing the motorway. But their action was slower than what they're expecting due to the restriction in equipment. Because the fortification matter with the Wind Base is their priority, for now, they have no choice but to leave the two Reprinter Units back in the base.
Without a piece of heavy-duty machinery to work on the motorway, it would be impossible for them to make this place crossable using vehicles.
Furthermore, the motorway was not a mere kilometer journey. The distance between the current Wind Base to Turbine Town is believed to be between 25 to 30 kilometers, which is quite a stretch of the distance between the two-point.
They could take a detour and return to the previous Wind Base and make it into an outpost. But that will undoubtedly cost them more manpower and also resources to get that place back to operation.
As for the second, the possibility is lower, but there might be another base popping up nearby them. Of course, it would require considerable manpower and influence to establish a base like Zhang Qin Feng's Wind Base.
But there's a possibility here because recently, fewer survivors are found in the open, like the shelters around them stopped working. With hardly an increase in the number of workers joining them, Zhang Qin Feng would have to start going out and looking for people soon enough.
Right now, their numbers were barely enough to keep the base running efficiently. At least five hundred more people are needed to keep the base operating to its maximum capacity. If he could reach 1500 people before the end of this year, it would be a great piece of news to him.
"Feng, what kind of idea do you have for the motorway? I'm interested to know more about it." Satella asked. She was responsible for controlling the route back to Turbine Town and clearing it.
And Satella was eager to know what Zhang Qin Feng have in mind to help her get this matter done.
"Anyone here has an idea about a deployable operation center?" Zhang Qin Feng asked. The impression from gaming back in the modern world contributes to bringing up this idea on this table.
Using the tablet computer as a drawing pad, Zhang Qin Feng relies on Stein's sketching guidance to visualized a dream that might comes true in this post-apocalypse.
Soon, simple sketching of a vehicle with deployable walls on the front appeared on the tablet computer.
"This one will be our front to keep moving forward as we clear the bridge." Zhang Qin Feng turned the tablet computer around and said.
