Chapter 346 All Must Fall

Two figures could be seen floating high above the clouds. Both of them had their arms wrapped around each other and a set of twelve foot wings jutting from their backs.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

The man had a black pair, while the woman had bright red.

"Well that… Could've gone better." Malachi finally admitted aloud.

"Never seen a guy turn that red before… I almost thought he was going to pop." Anna could still feel the ringing in her ears from Arias' yelling.

"We probably shouldn't have split in the middle of him talking though."

"Probably wasn't our finest decision, yea. But that just means we have to do such a good job that he can't find anything to bitch about." Anna nodded proudly as if it would be easy.

Malachi stared at Anna tenderly.

She recognized the look he was giving her and covered his eyes gently with her palm. "Don't."

"I didn't do anything." He defended.

"You're looking at me like this might be the last time you see me without a missing arm or strapped to another chair."

"Anna, please-"

"No, Malachi." She said with a soft, but firm voice. She covered his mouth this time too.

"I don't need you to hold my hand for this. I don't need you to ask me if you're sure I want to do this for you. I don't need you to give me some long, painful goodbye..."

Anna slowly uncovered Mal's lips and leaned forward. He felt a small peck on his skin that was hardly enough to satisfy his need for her. She had done that on purpose.

Anna wanted to leave him with something to look forward to later.

"Just come with me… and let's do this together so that we can go home."

Anna's hand slipped away as she fell back. She tucked in her wings and fell through the sky while staring up at him.

Come on. She mouthed.

Malachi only spent a moment watching her fall before he tucked in his wings and followed her.

Storm clouds formed in the path of their descent. Each one crackling and brimming with cyan colored lightning.

Malachi channeled the electricity in the storm clouds and wrapped it around his body like a protective ring.

For a moment, he locked eyes with Anna in mid-air.

She was smiling at him. Even while plummeting from their ridiculously high position in the sky.

He was quickly realizing that there may be no real quantifiable limit to just how much he loved this woman.

She made a beckoning gesture with her hands and Malachi quickly pulled his mind from dreamland.

The arc of lightning circling his body was guided towards Anna's plummeting figure.

Malachi made sure to strike her in her exposed stomach as per her earlier request.

She gritted her teeth so as not to scream out while she dealt with the initial pain.

Her husband's powers really were no joke. It felt like a wave of fire had just crashed into her navel.

Once she overcame that hurdle, she felt a massive amount of kinetic energy flood every nerve, blood vessel, and bone she possessed.

The air itself seemed to aid Anna's descent and launched her towards the ground.

A sonic boom was like the last catalyst needed to draw in the attention of those working below.

Anna held her fist out and struck the ground with the force of a small hydrogen bomb.

The sound was deafening. The scene was jarring. It was like a perfect storm of inconceivability.

There was a blinding flash of white light and the ground seemingly blew itself apart in an outward ring.

Anna had landed smack in the middle of an armed motor pool. The force of her strike had blown the nearby vehicles into the air like they were toy cars.

Those working nearby were luckily durable enough to avoid being blown apart- but that didn't mean that they weren't grievously injured.

The building had suffered significant structural damage in the wake of Anna's assault.

She closed her eyes, and concentrated on the inside. Your next read awaits at empire

Since the rebirth, a discovery had been made in the area of blessed genetics.

Every blessed, no matter how big or small, exhudes an intangible energy from the cells within their body.

The amount and density of this energy differs from blessed to blessed, and at present, it is unknown whether or not it is possible to produce more through training or other methods.

This energy not only fuels the powers that would otherwise be categorized as magic, but it also replaces the divine senses that were formerly being provided by the gods.

Anna's eyes were still shut, but she could see better than ever.

She could sense numerous figures running around in the building, trying their best not to pick themselves up after her surprise assault.

They were disoriented. Some were bleeding. But most importantly, they were pissed.

They were gathering their weapons, scrambling to raise alarms, and contact any superiors.

Anna channeled this strange new energy into her throat. Specifically stimulating her vocal cords.

The next time she parted her lips, everyone within a mile could hear her sarcastic voice dripping with humor.

"This is the weatherman here, coming at you from BDSM-K5 news. Were here to bring you news of a potential earthquake moving in from the east coast and-"

'Ahem.' Malachi cleared his throat in her mind.

"Sorry, make that down south." Anna corrected. "To avoid aftershocks, nearby residents are urged to surrender in the name of the New Day Front, and- God, that name sucks, we really need a better one…"

Anna was busy picking lint off her jacket when several heavily armed officers recovered.

Instead of rushing out to charge Anna directly, they kicked open the windows and trained ammunitions on her from up high.

Anna grimaced. "Huh. You guys aren't fans of the morning news, are ya? I swear, nobody watches cable tv nowadays besides Nadine.."

The men opened fire in response.

A hailstorm of bullets fell from the sky. Some metallic, some comprised of a bolt of energy pulled straight from the screen of a sci-fi movie.

Anna jumped above the gunfire.

She spread her massive twelve foot wings and gave them a hard flap- freeing a myriad of beautiful red feathers and flinging them into the air.

With her back to the ground, she caught sight of the man she would one day marry, standing on the rooftop. No one else had noticed he was here as well.

She flashed him a wink and a faint smile on the edges of her full lips.

'Don't take your eyes off me, handsome. I wanna show you exactly what kind of woman you're engaged to.'
