Chapter 32
C32 – The Black Tortoise Sea Eye
Since the Black Tortoise Sea offered such tremendous benefits, Chu Yangxiang naturally had to make his way to the sea’s eye for cultivation.
He followed the mountain path, hastening toward the location of the sea’s eye. The sun had already dipped below the horizon, and as the old saying goes, “When the sun sets, the wolves emerge from their dens.” True to the adage, mournful howls began to echo from the vicinity of Hyphosis Mountain.
Chu Yangxiang quickened his pace, heading straight for the sea’s eye. From a distance, a chorus of wolf howls grew louder as a pack of wolves made their way toward him. The sound of their paws thundered across the ground. Glancing back, Chu Yangxiang saw a dust cloud kicked up by a group of Demonic Wolves as they surged out of the mountain ridges.
“Heaven-martial,” he called out, sprinting as fast as he could.
The Heaven-martial Godly Tortoise, concealed within the Nine Horns Xuanwu Cauldron, chuckled to itself. “Kid, it’s time for your race against the wolves. If you outrun them, you’ll make it into the cave. If not, you’ll become their next meal.”
Chu Yangxiang’s expression soured. He hadn’t anticipated the Heaven-martial Godly Tortoise abandoning loyalty in such a dire moment. But there was no time to dwell on it; he dashed off, kicking up a trail of dust behind him.
The wind howled past his ears, and his body seemed to be carried by the gusts, his legs moving as if on their own accord. He ran desperately, propelled by sheer survival instinct.
Behind him, a horde of Demonic Beast wolves gave chase, closing in like relentless demons. If he couldn’t reach the cave in time, he would be reduced to nothing more than a meal for the ravenous pack.
A shiver ran down Chu Yangxiang’s spine as the ground vibrated with the wolves’ pursuit. He glanced back in alarm to see the wolves, each the size of a bull, with red fur and gaping maws that seemed to gape like bloody chasms.
Chu Yangxiang understood that the Heaven-martial Godly Tortoise would never truly leave him without the protection of the Nine Horns Xuanwu Cauldron. Despite the peril, he was prepared to face the immense danger head-on.
If he lacked even this much courage, how would he ever navigate the relentless trials on the path of a Martial Cultivator?
He was still 60 feet from the cave entrance, with the Demonic Wolf trailing just 30 feet behind him.
“Kid, figure it out on your own,” Tianwu said, his voice tinged with mirth.
In the face of mortal peril, he had no inclination to jest. Clenching his teeth, he pushed his speed to its limits.
A thunderous wolf howl exploded behind Chu Yangxiang, as a wolf, large as a bull, leapt through the air towards him. Astonishingly, the beast covered 30 feet in a single bound, landing right in front of Chu Yangxiang.
Summoning all his strength, Chu Yangxiang kicked off the rocky terrain, propelling himself over 20 feet forward and landing precariously on the cliff’s edge.
Without a second thought for his safety, Chu Yangxiang hurled himself another 20 feet along the cliff’s rim.
The red-furred Demonic Wolf, as large as a bull, howled and lunged at Chu Yangxiang once more.
Chu Yangxiang’s palms struck the ground as he slid down towards the valley.
The Red-furred Demonic Wolf came to rest on the cliff’s brink.
They stood in a line at the cliff’s edge, eyes fixed on Chu Yangxiang as he continued his descent.
Together, the Red-furred Demonic Wolves let out a chorus of howls.
Echoes reverberated through the valley, the Mountain-cry Valley responding with a symphony of sound, the wind and clouds gathering momentum as if heralding an impending storm.
Chu Yangxiang reached for the myriad vines on the cliff face, sliding down another ten feet, hanging perilously off the cliffside. It was a moment of extreme danger; had the vines failed to bear Chu Yangxiang’s weight, he would have plummeted to his death.
Chu Yangxiang scrambled towards the cave entrance with urgency.
Above, the wolf pack began gnawing at the vine roots, intent on sending Chu Yangxiang tumbling down.
But the vines were densely packed and exceptionally resilient, allowing him to narrowly avoid disaster.
Drifting and swaying, Chu Yangxiang finally reached the cave’s mouth.
The Heaven-martial Godly Tortoise laughed softly, “Impressive. You’ve gained much from this brief encounter.”
Chu Yangxiang gave a dismissive glance. “Let it be. Just quickly check if there are any Demonic Beasts in the cave. If there are, I’m done for.”
Upon entering the cave, Chu Yangxiang felt utterly drained.
The Heaven-martial Godly Tortoise was correct. He would indeed benefit from such rigorous training.
Facing off against the Red-furred Demonic Wolf at the cliff’s edge required immense courage. The shock to one’s spirit from making the leap down was beyond compare.
Chu Yangxiang quickly sat down cross-legged to thoroughly reflect on the experiences he had gained on the cliff.
The Heaven-martial Godly Tortoise materialized and gave Chu Yangxiang a nod. He had pushed his energy to the limit. He had nearly been shattered to pieces.
At such times, one is most weary. His ability to quickly enter a state of cultivation and assimilate the experience was an essential step on the path to becoming a formidable warrior.
An hour later, Chu Yangxiang felt his bravery surge anew.
Chu Yangxiang ended his meditation and took a stroll inside the cave. The entrance was quite narrow, allowing only one person to squeeze through. However, the interior was spacious. He walked fifty yards without reaching the end.
The concentration of Profound Qi inside the cave was exceptionally high. Absorbing Profound Qi here once yielded the same benefit as two hours of absorption outside. This place was undoubtedly his ideal training ground.
The cave floor was made of smooth, flat stone with hardly any uneven spots. To the right of the cave was a small stream that flowed into a very narrow cavity near the entrance.
He walked from the entrance across the broad, level ground. After twelve yards, he discovered a turtle-shaped depression about waist-deep.
This was a naturally formed Fortune Land Cave.
“Heaven Martial, why aren’t there any Demonic Beasts residing here?” Chu Yangxiang inquired, puzzled.
Heaven Martial gazed at Chu Yangxiang and replied, “Someone without destiny will never find this place.”
Chu Yangxiang nodded in understanding. He knew that to ascend to the pinnacle, a Martial Cultivator needed not only martial skills and Pills but also a stroke of good fortune.
If someone lacks good fortune, they’re unlikely to achieve much in their lifetime.
Those blessed with luck can stumble upon Xuanwu Coins just by stepping outside.
It’s precisely for this reason that such individuals find success.
In that case, he too must be considered fortunate.
From the very first day of the Martial Dao Talent Test, he discovered the Nine Horns Xuanwu Cauldron, marking the start of his serendipitous journey. Without this stroke of luck, he would have met his demise several times over by now.
The teachings of the Heaven Martial Cult emphasized that talent, fortune, and resources were merely supportive elements. Without outworking others, one could not expect to attain extraordinary feats. Each year, numerous prodigies perished on the Xuanwu Mainland.
It was only through his diligence that he could truly claim his fortune as his own.
Chu Yangxiang approached the cave, removed the corpses of the Black Panther Profound Warrior Group from the Nine Horns Xuanwu Cauldron, stripped them of their valuables, and discarded them outside the cave.
He tallied his gains.
His loot was considerable; he claimed all the resources carried by the twenty-three members of the Black Panther Profound Warrior Group.
At this moment, Chu Yangxiang felt a sense of gratitude towards the Black Panther Profound Warrior Group. They were the real benefactors, selflessly providing treasures without any thought for their own gain. They had traveled from Zhenhai City, sacrificing their lives to bestow upon him resources and opportunities.
Once he emerged from Hyphosis Mountain, he resolved to properly thank the Black Panther Profound Warrior Group.
Chu Yangxiang consolidated the resources into the Nine Horns Xuanwu Cauldron. How they were utilized was now the concern of the Heaven Martial Arts. Whether they were meant to challenge or train him, without the Heaven Martial Arts, he would not have reached his current level of achievement.
Chu Yangxiang arrived at the turtle-shaped depression and released the two-meter-long Iron Back Tortoise, which thudded onto the ground.
After removing the treasured sword from the eyes of the Iron Back Tortoise, blood spurted forth, streaming into the pit below.
The Nine Horns Xuanwu Cauldron absorbed a bit of the blood’s essence, flickering on and off before trembling and settling into Chu Yangxiang’s right hand.
A profound energy penetrated deep into his mind, an energy known as Heaven Smashing Bash.
Chu Yangxiang was elated; he had finally acquired the first martial skill emanating from the Nine Horns Xuanwu Cauldron.
The Heaven-martial Godly Tortoise poured a medicinal liquid into the turtle-shaped pit, and the Iron Back Tortoise was once again enclosed within the Nine Horns Xuanwu Cauldron.
The dark red, thick blood within the pit was imbued with a Raging Energy, incomparable to that of any inferior Demonic Beast. The Energy Concentration was intensified more than tenfold.
Chu Yangxiang gazed at the Blood Pool, contemplating, “I’m eager to discover just how formidable the energy of a Yellow Rank Demonic Beast truly is.”
