Basketball System: Rebound of the Underdog

Chapter 155 Shizi Dogs vs. Feng Foxes (8)

Coach Ben frowned as Kai went back to dribbling once more—acting like he wasn't just tripped by Junfeng.

He had already noticed this during their practice game, and he thought that it was only because he sent out the weak players.

However, Junfeng, despite being a newbie at basketball, had one of the greatest strengths on their team—maybe even stronger than Yiming.

Yet, Kai was acting like he was just being pushed by someone as lean and skinny as Kexin!

Meanwhile, Kai's annoyance was already at its peak.

Not only had he been fouled three times already, but they were all non-shooting fouls!

Junfeng acted like it was a mistake once again for this particular foul, causing Kai to pursue his lips in anger.

Zeren went beside him and patted his shoulder.

"It's annoying, but control your anger. The third quarter is going to end soon."

Kai nodded. However, with Yiming scoring another two points for the Feng Foxes, Kai knew that he already tipped over the edge.

60-50

With Junfeng defending against him again, Kai glared at him with profound hatred.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"You're not the only one who is good at acting," he spat, causing Junfeng to frown in confusion.

Kai moved quickly, moving around Junfeng to shoot from inside the paint.

Meanwhile, Zeren and Jinping guarded against Yiming, which left Kai open.

Junfeng cursed under his breath as he watched Kai prepare to shoot. He was only a few inches away from him, but he had a feeling that he wouldn't be able to foul him this time.

Just then, as he got to where Kai was, Kai suddenly toppled to the ground, the ball rolling away from his hands.

Junfeng's eyes widened in surprise as he looked at Kai, who appeared to be clutching onto his abdomen.

"What the heck?" he muttered.

He didn't even touch him this time!

Meanwhile, Kai, who was kneeling on the ground with his head cast down, smirked to himself as the people around him threw another round of curses at Junfeng.

"It's really intentional this time!"

"What the heck? Did he hurt his wrist?"

"Poor guy. He's been taking hits for the entire third quarter."

Meanwhile, Coach Ben covered his mouth with the back of his hand just as he smirked.

Junfeng was going to be fouled out soon, but what was important was that he fulfilled his objective—to take one of the Shizi players out of the game.

The referee blew his whistle, and he finally called Junfeng for an intentional foul, which made the guy's eyes widen in surprise.

"What? I didn't do it!" Junfeng said.

The referee shook his head and persisted with his decision.

"I didn't even touch him. You could watch the playback or something," he continued defending himself.

"Oh, it looks like we have a dispute going over here. Kai Guo is still on the ground, his worried teammates surrounding him. Meanwhile, Junfeng is pleading himself innocent. However, it looks like the referee had already made up his mind."

Chunlei frowned as he watched Junfeng defend his innocence as if his life depended on it. For the past three fouls that he had done, he blatantly admitted it—almost as if he was proud of what he had done.

However, seeing that he was defending himself to this extent made Chunlei realize that it was possible he didn't commit the foul after all.

Chunlei then glanced at Kai, and for a second, he saw a small smile playing on the first-year players' lips.

Then, he let out an amused chuckle. It seemed like Kai Guo was much more cunning than he had thought.

Kai saw Yuze preparing to go to him through his peripheral vision, so he quickly stood up and nonchalantly looked around, acting as if he hadn't just fallen to the ground mere seconds ago.

The arena turned silent as they waited for Kai to walk.

Then, he did, even jogging in place and shaking his hands to get rid of the tension in his body.

Kun frowned in confusion.

"Are you alright? That was a pretty loud fall."

Kai smirked as he stretched out his hands.

"Oh, I was just stretching," he said, causing his teammates to click their tongues in annoyance.

"Idiot," Jinping said, wondering why he was even worried in the first place. Deep inside his mind, he knew that they needed Kai in this game if they wanted to win.

Jinping wasn't sure when Kai became an integral part of the team, but he just did (which he wasn't too happy about).

"Well, it looks like nothing could bring Kai Guo down. He's once again showing that he has bones as hard as steel," Mark Li exclaimed.

"What is this? His fourth fall? But it seems like he's still up and running."

"Now, he has to take his free-throw shots. Will he be able to sink it? Or were the first two that he did during the second quarter just lucky shots?"

Kai took his position in the free throw line despite his tingling wrist. He dribbled the ball.

One...two...

Then, he threw it high into the air.

He smirked as it went in once again.

60-51

"Just one more," he muttered.

One more shot, and he would fulfill his weekly mission!

For this shot, he didn't take such a long time. He threw it like he did during the first time, and as expected, it went in without touching the rim.

60-52

"That's two clean shots from Kai Guo! However, it seems like he'll still have his third and fourth shot," Mark said, causing Kai to turn toward the professional scorer's table.

Then, he saw the number five on the side of the Feng Foxes' scoreboard.

"That's right! We'll have a penalty shot since the Feng Foxes had already acquired five fouls!" he said.

Yiming clicked his tongue and ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.

He had worked so hard to build the two-digit gap, but in the blink of an eye, it seemed like they were going back to the cursed 6-point gap!

"It's not luck anymore," he muttered as Kai positioned himself once more on the three-point line.

If, at first, they could keep fouling Kai without thinking of him getting a point, then it was now an entirely different story.

"He can actually shoot now," Chunlei said from the bench, a chuckle of disbelief escaping his lips.

Then, to prove his point even further, Kai sank the two penalty shots perfectly.

60-54

Kai smiled since his mission had now finished.

"We're back, baby," he whispered.
