497. The Mysterious Arrival!!!
497. The Mysterious Arrival!!!
In the endless darkness, it felt as though a massive curtain covered all things.
Alex opened his eyes once again, his soul returning to his body. At that moment, he could feel every cell in his body cheering with excitement.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
This sensation was difficult to describe, like having a deep, restful sleep until dawn. Alex felt invigorated, and it was clear that his own body was the most suited for him.
If possible, Alex never wanted to experience possession again for a third time.
With this matter resolved, it was time for him to leave. In the universe of the The Boys, Alex had gained quite a bit. Though he still hadn't fully figured out the pollution and its source, he knew he was very close to the truth.
This strange universe born from pollution was constantly generating new contaminants. Now that Alex had severed the flow of pollution at its local source, it would surely affect the outside world in some way.
However, Alex wasn't sure exactly how this would play out. He only wanted to return to Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum as quickly as possible, so he could organize the clues with the Illuminati in the mysterious house.
It was difficult for him to figure it all out alone, but with the wisdom of Stark, Reed Richards, and others, some inferences could surely be made.
With this thought, Alex closed his eyes once again and began to channel the energy within his body, allowing his mind to exit this strange dark dimension.
But just then, a strange energy surged toward Alex.
Strictly speaking, this was supposed to be the Sentry's mental world. Aside from the void, nothing should exist here.
But Alex didn't have time to think much. He quickly stepped back to avoid the energy's impact, but when he looked back, there was nothing there. All he saw was an endless expanse of darkness.
While Alex was momentarily distracted, that formless, conscious energy attacked again. Alex furrowed his brow and swiftly dodged once more.
'It seems I can't engage with this thing here.'
In this boundless darkness, Alex's senses were obscured, and his own energy couldn't be freely used. He was unable to retaliate effectively, only passively avoiding the attacks.
Although the creature's attacks weren't very powerful and could easily be dodged, Alex was growing frustrated with constantly evading. Additionally, he was genuinely curious as to what this thing was and why it was attacking him here.
After a brief pause, Alex decided to stop retreating. He felt the consciousness approaching again and suddenly released his energy, wrapping it around the incoming force—
In the endless void of the universe, Deadpool massacres the Marvel Universe dimension.
In the Sanctum Sanctorum's twisted chamber, the black liquid that had been simmering for a long time began to bubble once again.
Noticing the change in the liquid, Doctor Strange and Punisher immediately sprang into action.
They were both familiar with the origins of this cursed thing. Just as Alex had decided to explore the Sentry's mental world, the black, viscous liquid had flowed out of the shadows, enveloping both of them completely.
After Alex took action, the liquid, which resembled oil, settled down like mashed potatoes. But now that the liquid was reacting so violently, it was clear that something within was stirring.
Since this was the first time they had encountered such an event, neither Doctor Strange nor Punisher knew whether the bubbling was normal. So, they remained on high alert.
Doctor Strange raised his hand, casting a protective magical array in preparation for any unknown danger, while Punisher grabbed his axe, ready to strike at a moment's notice.
The black liquid continued to bubble and roil more violently, emitting a series of explosive sounds. Doctor Strange and Punisher exchanged glances, both sensing the wariness in each other's eyes.
Anything related to pollution was never simple, and this was especially true for them.
Just as they stood ready, the black liquid suddenly exploded with a deafening roar!
As the liquid splattered everywhere, a figure materialized, landing in the corner of the room in a crouched position.
Doctor Strange and Punisher looked toward the sound and saw that it was none other than Alex, though his condition didn't look good. Perhaps due to a lack of exposure to light for so long, his skin had turned pale, and black liquid was dripping from his body.
"Alex, are you okay?" Punisher asked, gripping his axe.
"I'm fine."
Alex wiped the liquid from his forehead, but then his expression changed. He suddenly shouted at the two of them.
"Something came out with me. Be careful!"
Upon hearing this, Punisher reacted instantly. He noticed a dark shadow emerging from the black liquid and, without hesitation, swung his axe toward it.
But the shadow was too fast for Punisher to catch. Just as the axe was about to strike, the shadow twisted in an unnatural angle, leaping onto the ceiling beams above.
Seeing this, Doctor Strange immediately took action. A golden magical array quickly repelled all the black liquid, and invisible energy flowed, lifting the still-standing Sentry.
At this point, the Sentry had lost consciousness and even reverted to its original, frail form. After pulling it close using magic, Doctor Strange immediately protected it.
"What the hell is this?!" It wasn't until then that everyone stopped their movements. Punisher's gaze was fixed on the shadow from earlier.
"That's a good question, Punisher. I'd like to know the answer myself," Alex said as he adjusted his clothes and slowly stood up. He turned and looked up.
For some reason, seeing that shadow felt strangely familiar, like he had seen it somewhere before. Moreover, from the way it moved, it resembled a friend of his.
"Is it a creature that escaped from the pollution?"
Doctor Strange waved his hands, and golden energy immediately transformed into ribbons that spread out. The entire room began to shift.
"How dare you trespass in the Sanctum of the Supreme Sorcerer? I will judge you in the name of Vishanti!"
The floor and walls seemed to come alive as the entire chamber expanded. The beams that had supported the ceiling retracted back into the walls, transforming the previously small room into a large open space.
Without the beams beneath it, the shadow immediately leapt down from the ceiling with lightning speed, landing in a corner, crouching and watching the group.
As it moved, Alex, Doctor Strange, and the others gathered together, all turning their attention toward the shadow.
Within that shadow, an eerie creature with a human-like outline was observing them. The creature wore a bat-like mask, with dozens of tentacles resembling octopus appendages protruding from the lower half of its face.
The creature was draped in a black cloak, its arms adorned with sharp blades. Its clothing was covered in black liquid and gel-like substances, making it a grotesque, horrifying monster.
"Batman?"
Alex tilted his head in confusion, staring in astonishment at the bizarre figure before him.
"What's a Batman?" Punisher frowned, looking at Alex.
Since Deadpool's slaughter in the Marvel Universe didn't include DC comics, the two beside Alex had no idea what this bat-like creature was.
"You could think of him as a superhero from a parallel world, but the Batman I remember was a genuine human being, not this monster," Alex explained, his gaze shifting toward the tentacles on the creature's lower face, feeling a wave of nausea.
When Alex had turned into a demon before, he hadn't felt anything strange, but seeing this bizarre creature now made his stomach churn.
The bat-like creature's glowing eyes scanned each of them, and an unknown vocal organ emitted a series of high-pitched, low-frequency whispers.
It was a sound no human could understand, akin to the screech of a bat.
"I was actually interested in hearing about your experiences, but after seeing this thing, I think I don't want to know what you've encountered in the pollution," Doctor Strange said flatly.
"Honestly, I've never seen anything this bizarre in the pollution either," Alex said, feeling exasperated.
"Then how did this thing follow you out?" Punisher gripped his axe tighter.
"I want to know that too. After I left that universe, this thing latched onto me. I couldn't fight back in the Sentry's mental world, so I had no choice but to bring it along," Alex replied.
Looking at the strange creature, which was constantly emitting black glowing substances, Doctor Strange frowned. This was the first time he had encountered such a peculiar being.
After a pause, Doctor Strange extended his hand. "Stop thinking about it. No matter what this thing is, let's first control it."
"Mm." Punisher nodded resolutely.
Alex, standing beside them, had no objections. Compared to the other two, he was more curious about what this creature was and why it appeared in the Sentry's mental world.
Could it be that this strange "Batman" was part of the pollution, or perhaps a creation born from it?
The three of them began to move slowly, each taking a different path as they surrounded the bizarre "Batman" from three directions.
It seemed the creature sensed their intentions. A booming noise erupted from its mouth, as if it was trying to intimidate them.
But its sound didn't stop the trio from advancing.
