A random pokemon journey

Existential crisis

Existential crisis

'He's wrong but not terrible so which is a testament to his and the leagues diligence.' I thought genuinely impressed at how close he got. He certainly couldn't be blamed for failing to grasp the truth when until now all he had was one half of the puzzle and even then the pieces don't all match up. "That's an interesting theory but in reality not something so easily done, after all I doubt the Dialga is just going to sit back and let it happen." I said pointing out the problem with his idea.-

Rowan frowned "I'm not familiar with the name, what is it?" he asked seriously. I sighed at the question because I had clearly held my expectations too high after meeting Cynthia. "What is with you people and not reading up on your own legends and myths? Dialga is the temporal ruler pokemon, the big boss in charge of time and history. You know all those stories about people trying to change the past and getting mysteriously struck down? That's Dialga at work. I had assumed that with Cynthia in the region you'd at least know this much but clearly I was wrong, not the first time I guess." I say slightly annoyed.-

"And how did you come across this knowledge if it takes an archeologist like that girl to understand this matter?" Rowan asked sternly. "It doesn't take an archeologist, any historian with access to records from the Hisuian era could tell you the same. Unlike apparently everyone in the league I actually spent the time digging up the information on the beings of this world that I needed to add to my "don't fuck with" list. It's how I knew about Rayquaza and the other two and so much more as well." I said seriously.-

"I'm a scientist Mr. Drake, chasing tall tales and myths has never appealed to me and the same can be said for most in the league as well." Rowan defended himself. I groaned in annoyance "They aren't tall tales or myths for the majority of the time damn it! You live in a world where gods roam and you people have the audacity to shrug off the historical records of these beings doing something as mere myth? Is it any wonder humanity has reset itself multiple times already?" I said angrily but paled as I realized what I just said.-

"What do you mean!?" Rowan demanded raising his voice for the first time in our entire conversation. I sighed and looked at him firmly in the eye "If what I am about to tell you gets out I will personally hunt you down, do you understand?" I asked seriously while pressing down on him with my aura. He paled and his knees weakened under the pressure but he didn't fall as he nodded. While my aura was not nearly as intense as a pokemons I had the advantage of being able to actively utilize it and thus could emulate the innate pressure that an extremely powerful pokemon such a Rayquaza had just by existing.-

The benefit to using this pressure was that it was extremely dissuasive to lying to me or trying to trick me. It was hard to think straight when all your instincts are screaming at you after all. "By now you should be aware that I went to Rayquaza to get his aid to stop his siblings. What not even Steven knows however was that I have spoken to the sky lord on more than just that."-

"I won't share the entire conversation as it was a private matter but during that time Rayquaza revealed to me that humanity and civilization as a whole has reset itself multiple times since the dawn of the world. He also revealed to me that it has more often than not been our own fault for messing with things best left alone. I was going to keep this information to myself but I got carried away by you peoples willful disregard of your reality. This information cannot be allowed to spread however or it would bring chaos. It goes with you to your grave or it will be the death of you." I said firmly.-

"So what, it's all pointless? If civilization will simply reset then doesn't that mean nothing we do has meaning?" Rowan questioned disillusioned. "Quite the contrary, everything has so much more meaning because just maybe THIS time will be the last, the final product if you will. Rayquaza himself told me that there have only been about a handful of civilizations to reach where we are now. I won't lie and say that the chance is high, but it does exist and isn't that enough? I refuse to believe it's not, that all I aspire to be is a meaningless goal simply because the chance of pulling it off is abysmally small." I say seriously.-

"Nothing worth doing is ever easy is it? I always thought I understood what that meant but it would appear that you have a far better grasp of it than I do. How did you do it? How did you get past the realization that everything you do might be pointless?" he asked looking for hope. "I didn't, I use it as fuel to be the exception, the best I can be. My greatest ambition was simply to not be forgotten. Sad isn't it?"-

"I want to be remembered for all time and until Rayquaza told me what he did I never understood just how grand an ambition that was. Don't get me wrong I was shattered when I discovered the truth. How could I not be when learning that even if I left behind a legend it would likely be forgotten if humanity reset? So I changed my goal, or rather the way I aimed to reach my original goal. I won't say what I changed it to but THAT is what I strive for everyday one step at a time." I say honestly.-n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"Is this why you hunt the criminal element so ferociously?" he asked and I chuckled and shook my head "Oh no my reason for that is far simpler. I hate the aftermath their actions leave behind, all victims and no good. While I have no doubt my hunting of them has an effect on increasing the probability of this civilization being the final one due to their end goals and methods of achieving them, it isn't as big an impact as you might think." I say honestly.
